Greymoor is gonna make me actually Role Play

Among the firestorm of performance oppression threads and players crying out (exclaiming, not literal crying), I want to just share some neutral to positive thoughts the upcoming Chapter is giving me, if that is alright.

I know the bugs on Live is substantial, and I'm sure what's on the PTS also has it's issues, but I'm still genuinely anticipating the next installment. I'm excited to Quest and explore a land that's captivated me for years, re-imagined, and I'm going to do it as a Furry Tailed Fem as I've always done. Though what's been on my mind for a short while now is the new state House that's going to be available in Solitude. A really nice medium sized estate in the Nobles district of a city that has both attractive aesthetics and nostalgic allure. It's definitely going to be a purchase, but I'd been coming up with ways to justify a Khajiit owning property in a somewhat Xenophobic Western Skyrim's Capital. Most don't bother with these Lore conflicts, but I love a good rounded story.

I'm sick of the Alliance War. The story behind it wasn't carried on in any meaningful depth since the original Cinematics, and in-game all it is, consists of points farming and PuG crushing. Not many even care about the actual objectives anymore. The "War" in the Alliance War is all but straight ignored by veteran players as all they care about is the Zone being a Dueling arena on a large scale. When it comes to the story of the War and Cyrodiil, I've spent my time fighting as you can see my Main's rank in my signature. I've gone into the Imperial City, quested through each District, helped the Drake relight the Brazier underneath the city and battled my way up the White Gold Tower, striking down the imposter Molag Kena and closing the Anchor above the city, ending the Daedric invasion of the Empire, (even though this isn't shown permanently once you leave the Dungeon). In my perception of the timeline, I've ended the direct cause of the Three Banners War and restored some stability to the Empire. The Three Banners have no reason left to continue their senseless pursuit of a Throne that's not theirs to sit on. Which brings me to Greymoor and it's House.

I had taken to the Season of the Dragon's questline and invested my characters into being Agents and Champions of Khamira and the new Confederacy. With the Alliance War being pointless in my mind now and our attention shifting to Skyrim, I've thought it perfect to have my Khajiit take on the role of Queen Khamira's Diplomatic contingent to the Nords. To move away from the Dominion and represent the Khajiit as a sovereign people again. The house will act as an Embassy, no doubt humbly awarded to the Khajiit after Khamira's Champion aids Skyrim in defeating the Vampiric threat. My MagSorc Dehyesha, the Scholar, shall act as the Diplomat while my StamBlade Ka'atali is her bodyguard, and one of Khamira's Claws. I think this is fitting enough to justify a Khajiit living in a Nord city who isn't a Thief, Beggar, or Merchant.

If you have any backstories to your Characters concerning Greymoor's story I'm interested to read them!

Yeah by contrast my alliance war story has run amuck. So I took the time to secure the ring of Stendarr so the amulet of kings may never run afoul. Lead an army into Coldharbor, destroyed the great shackle which I thought was at the center of Tamriel I:E above the White Gold Tower. Lead an army into Cyrodiil to find out it wasn't. Had me and some of my best men infiltrate the tower. Found a false empresses who was leading an imperial remnant that I postponed dispatching for the sake of an magical floating egg roll they'd had promised to the Covenant. Turned out to be a Daedra, wasn't surprised. Killed it. Tried to recover said eggroll, was recalled by my soul back into Cold harbor. Got saved by a moth priest who used the recall of Molag-Kena to weaken and destroy the dark anchor. Proceeded to attempt to kidnap said moth-priest with the scroll for the Covenant. Stepped out the district with the spoil to have the moth priest and the scroll disappear, and the giant dark anchor loom over head. Quickly realized that the scroll was a scroll of time, a defense mechanism of tower. It had been used to cast the White Gold Tower into a Dragon Break. It the only reason why after years of pulling on the Tower that all of Nirn wasn't sucked into Coldharbor. As the tower is frozen in time.
Taking up the expedition a few more times I came to realize the necessity of events. Defeating Molag-Kena before she revealed herself would turn the Imperials and the moth priests on me. They were destined to be subjugated by the Covenant anyway but I needed the moth priest to unlock the scroll & despite being a Breton, I was no good at necromancy. Even standing back to destroy the anchor myself wasn't fruit full, as the scroll would be lost to Coldharbor with one of my companions who'd use it to reset time.
I departed from that quest flabbergasted perhaps to return on a day with a moth priest loyal to the Covenant.

Empty handed, I returned to the warlord of Cyrodiil. Who had me fight campaign after campaign until I eventually outranked her. With trips to the homeland, and undaunted expeditions seeking items of power, all for the Covenant, I heard tales of rumors of turmoil & adventures in distant lands. Their heartache is my respite I would always say. (Leading me not to complete a single chapter DLC on my main character.) Hearing rumors of the Psjiic order, masters of magic, made me seek them out for power, power that may end the dragon break. After clearing the landing for, and avenging the death of a few Daggerfall infiltrators, it somehow got me on the good side of the queens hand and into the order. After that I was done with Summerset.
    As for western skyrim...
An associate of the mages guild has invited me to make a trip. She and I go way back before my conquests when I was was making myself out to be the hero of Daggerfall. She helped with & survived Coldharbor and now wants me in a relic hunting club. Most useful because anything I find can go towards the war effort.

As far as helping to sow unity between the Pact & Western Skyrim, that's treason. And Queen Arzhela can teach you a thing or two about treason. What's a few more dead Nords & an undead army ravaging the pact going to do to me. Outside make life easy.

@ArchMikem I like the thought you've put into your kitty's role in Skyrim among the 'Skryrim is for the Nords' natives. Surely, your Khajiit will be a better envoy and ambassador than the Nords' offering of Rigurt the Brash. ;)

I'd love to have a Nord character to play through Greymoor, but I have 18 characters and not a single Nord. LOL. I'll have to come up with some fun idea like this.

I think this post more or less perfectly captures the attitude ZOS hopes players will take, for better or for worse.

For me most of it is actually already settled. Greymoor is allowing one of my characters to come home. Once the chapter hits and Q4 comes out, I can go and explore the places that exist there and see how my character actually fits in there.
From the way it's looking right now I think Karthald makes for an interesting place of origin.

That is if I am going to buy Greymoor at all considering performance, bugs, balance decisions, stubborness to stick to week 1 version of PTS, lack of content, lack of rewards...

That was a hell of a ride, I'm guessing your character did content way out of order?

The reunion between Varanis Arano and members of House Ravenwatch is going to be awkward.

She wasn't a fan of Count Verandis' "friendly neighborhood vampire" schtick in Rivenspire or the way he basically escaped all responsibility for his contribution to the crisis.

I personally never thought the war made much sense. How in their right mind would be warring over a single region in the midst of a crisis like a Daedric Prince literally trying to drag Nirn into CH? It makes so little sense that the Alliances would be so focused on Cyrodiil, when if Bal had been successful, literal no one would rule anyways because everyone would be Bal's slaves.

    @VaranisArano
He doesn't exactly escape, iirc. He gets preeeetty hecked at the end of the quest.

I sort of decided I wanted to do something similar, my story also similarly revolves around the new house but mine is the beautiful black reach house bastion sanguinaris. I’m making a new vampire character that is going to be the lord of all my other vampire characters. I’m am going to try using mostly a vampire only build which will be hard since the skill line lacks the full kit and sadly the npc vampires are way cooler :(. But anyway he is going to be a Breton aristocrat ruler who became infected from lemae bal, he then turned his most trusted soldiers to be by his side(my other characters) he wanted to grow stronger and rule over many more lands so he allied with the new main (vampire antagonist). he was granted access to built his castle side by side to greymoor keep for being the (vampire antagonist) most ruthless and skilled ally. After many centuries past he decides its time to end the (main antagonist) rule so he can become the one ruler of blackreach and soon to be many more lands. And that is where the greymoor questline starts... he seems to be helpful to others like Jorunn and Lyris etc. but he is really making friends with the mortals to destroy his enemy and soon after rule over all mortals
