It would be REALLY nice to get more half-long skirt light armors

I dont know how others feel but most light armors are available in either a full long skirt that reaches the floor or pants...imo for a lot of motifs both look kinda really meh...

The best looking light armors imo are usually the ones with half long skirts - for example the ebony light armor or the celestial light armor that only reaches down to the top of your boots...it still looks magelike but at the same time more parctical, less "floaty" and you can show of your boots...

How do others feel?

But it sounds like you're asking for short skirt / miniskirt? Something to get that thigh-gap look?

Not really. Those are more of the knee-length skirt look. Or the split runs up the center, so like a long coat.

My favorite is Mercenary heavy, though Merc light has the split skirt the OP seems to like.

Yeah, there are some more "half-skirt" styles in medium and heavy... I myself do like the Silver Dawn...

celestial is also one of the very few half length skirt styles that are a leg style and can therefore be combined with a chest
