Is there a config file where my locale is stored that i can manually edit it?

Someone has suggested that my locale is set to C and that because of this, my in game clock defaults to UTC

Anyone can tell me where this is stored? Thanks!

I simply must protest. There are no Penguin avatars for me to use in the forums.

I would think that would be set at the OS level.

I am not asking about the OS i am asking about the game. My OS is set to america new york.

Clearly you have forgotten the first time you installed the game it asks for your location. It stored that info somehwere. Perhaps that somewhere is known. If it is known perhaps someone will respond here and tell me. Perhaps that someone is not you. Thank you for your help.

There is a [User]\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\UserSettings.txt. Not sure if what you are looking for is in there.

Thanks. I did look there but could only find settings for the server not for the locale... Perhaps that's the problem? Would you post yours here so i could compare them?

The game didn't ask me for my location when I installed it.... but then, my "install" was copying a friend's install folder from stick to my SSD....

Now, that said, there is in my C:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\Launcher folder, a folder named "locales". There's nothing in there in my setup, but if you have a similar folder you might see if there's something there. Also in the Launcher folder is a file named "launcher.settings". The contents of that file in the launcher folder follows:

    {"logExpirationDays":0,"maxFileWriteRate":0,"maxFileReadRate":0,"maxUploadRate":0,"maxDownloadRate":0,"webEnabled":true,"p2pEnabled":false,"region":"US","language":"en-us","zosLastError":"","lastLog":7}

Doesn't look all that useful/helpful. Anyway, good luck.

The issue is likely that Linux stores the system time by default in UTC and then adjusts the displayed time to the specified time zone while Windows stores the time in the local time zone by default. Since the game was originally written for Windows, it probably just looks for the system time. When I shift OS on my laptop that I dual boot, the clocks always get shifted. To check and see if Linux is storing UTC or local, run timedatectl and look for the line that says “RTC in local TZ”. If that is no, your system time is in UTC and likely the cause of the issue. You can google how to change the settings, it is pretty straight forward.

That was one of the first things i tried...

    sudo timedatectl set-local-rtc 1

made no difference either before or after reboot in regards to the time changing

    timedatectl
Local time: Fri 2020-05-15 19:33:16 EDT
Universal time: Fri 2020-05-15 23:33:16 UTC
    RTC time: Fri 2020-05-15 19:33:15
    Time zone: America/New_York (EDT, -0400)
    System clock synchronized: yes
    NTP service: active
    RTC in local TZ: yes

Warning: The system is configured to read the RTC time in the local time zone.
This mode cannot be fully supported. It will create various problems
with time zone changes and daylight saving time adjustments. The RTC
time is never updated, it relies on external facilities to maintain it.
If at all possible, use RTC in UTC by calling
    'timedatectl set-local-rtc 0'.

GMT Offset is what you may have to look for, not some region code.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

AMDVLK sets timezone to GMT+0 when vulkan loader just enumerates ICDs. According to the nice folks at Mangohub, aka Jackun

    https://github.com/flightlessmango/MangoHud/issues/175

    And so i did this:

Is that something i can manually edit if i build amdvlk from the aur? Or maybe i can downgrade amdvlk until the regression in amdvlk is fixed?

    THAT WORKED! Downgraded to 2020.02.01

Just FYI if anyone was paying this thread any mind...
