Can you trade items found in chest trials?

So, I did a trial with guild and I’m looking for the 2 handed lok axe. We finish the trial and a guild member posted in chat he got it and was willing to trade for a piece I found. We start trade and I put my item in and he puts a dagger in. I say oh sorry I’m looking for axe. He says my bad and there’s a lengthy pause and he says he can’t because he found it in chest.

I’m just curious if my guilde wasn’t being honest and was hoping I didn’t notice trade item was wrong and backed out when I called it or you can’t trade chest items. I was with group during every chest.

If it dropped from the weekly Coffer, it cannot be traded. If it was found in just a regular Treasure Chest, it can be traded for up to 2 hours after it was picked up.

Yeah, he likely meant the coffer you get from the weekly. If you had clicked it to see a description of the item it would have either said Bind on Pickup or Bind in Equip.
