Dusted off the old MagDK

So I haven't run my old Dunmer Dragon Knight for a long time and I decided to play it again after two years. At the time I was running a combination of Grothdarr + Burning Spellweave + Silks of the Sun. I'm still getting decent results out of it but I'm wondering if its time to try something different.
I was contemplating certain gear combinations out of the hoarded collection of armor I have stashed in lockboxes and the bank and such.
If anything, I'd like to keep Grothdarr simply because I like its utility in PvE.
Beyond that, I'm open to trying something different - I was thinking of doing BSW and False God but I'm open to anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Elfbane got a nice buff last patch, and will still be worth using for MagDks. MagDk’s are really powerful this patch. However, you kind of missed out. Due to a few upcoming fixes and nerfs, they will probably be back down at the bottom of Mag dps. Still, elfbane gives Grothdar a huge uptime boost, and, in the upcoming patch, will now also boost Llambris uptime, so not all bad I guess.

Currently Elfbane, 3xPFGD, Perfected Asylum front-bar performs the best. But if we leave the Asylum builds aside (because it's getting both fixed and nerfed making it non-viable come Greymoor), then I believe ElfBane-Siroria-Zaan is the next highest parsing build on the dummy atm. Requires alot of experience to use in raids though and still not suitable for many of them. PFGD and Sorrow is the more versatile set-up that some people use in trials but it doesn't parse as high on dummy ofc. Sorrow still beats having BSW on front bar.

I have no PTS access and no first hand experience it sounds like the Vampiric melee spammable Eviscerate, which costs HP instead of magicka, solves the DK sustain issues (especially paired with Elf Bane) despite vampirism increasing the cost of all other abilities. Requires a healer to keep a HoT on you though to prevent you from dropping dangerously low though and maybe not particularly suitable for solo content.

Also from what I'm hearing so far a very strong candidate for next patch will be ElfBane/Siroria/Sorrow, 3xFGD with Master and Maestrom staves on either bar. Master staff gives 600 sp. dmg. for 4 secs after casting Reach, which is equivalent to what you get for full stacks Siroria which you can never keep up anyway. So with that DK will play like other classes re-casting the same ability every X seconds (like Blastbones, Grim Focus, Bound Armaments, Shalk etc.).

Early days on the PTS stuff though, who know how the meta will evolve.

That's what I use, It seems pretty good at what it does.

I am apparently weird in that I use Chains and Fire Rune (since they are fire damage)

my dps is pretty consistant I think my low crit could be a problem for high level stuff but its really good for normal trials and vet dungeons.
