My phone buzzed to notify me about the moon phase (it's a New Moon today), and that actually reminded me that the New Moon Priest motif dropped today. I really want that to have been intentional. Please tell me it was intentional. : D

Eh.... I already knew it was New Moon - as I've been having my usual rash of weird dreams for the last couple of days; which will continue for a couple of days past the New Moon, and then start up again a couple of days before Full Moon - etc etc ad infinitum ad nauseam. Not fun.

As it happens, I don't really like any of the Elsweyr motifs. What I DO like is Crafty Alfiq - which isn't a motif, and lordy I hate having to craft stuff every ten levels just for the look (because the sorcs I want it on are 20s/30s mostly)....

Not always. This month seems to be, last month I don't think was, though I wasn't really paying attention.... Hmm. Might have to spreadsheet it and see!

IIRC, Crafty Alfiq uses the Pellitine style, so you could collect those motifs.

Huh. I looked at it on ESO-Fashion, didn't look quite the same to me, but some of the pics on the site aren't great. I'll pick up the Pellitine chest motif and see how it looks real-time. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes, that could be it. Sometimes that site is pretty confusing. I will do a better deko tomorrow, and again, my thanks!

I've been hanging in there since menopause (a LONG time ago now....) and.... well.... it's not better. In fact, it's worse. I crash the instant I hit the pillow - for about 5 hours. And then.... it's just dreamstuff from then (around 1 - 2 am) until getting up at 6:30 am.

I blame it on husband. And he's well aware that his sleep cycle does NOT in any way mesh with mine and in fact that his insistence on me adhering to his sleep cycle causes me issues - but he simply doesn't care. If I'm up until the late hours (as I really prefer and need to be - considering that I honestly need less than 5 hours sleep a night....) he's sitting out here moaning groaning and sighing, instead of just GOING TO G'DAMN bed and sleeping.

Way too late to fix it. Been married for going on 46 years, and he's never been any different. *shrug* It is what it is. And I shouldn't whine, considering COVID 19!

Are you me? I'm younger than you (33), and I have no husband to drag me to bed, but along with the moon crazies I'm a very nocturnal person, too. It sounds like your husband really needs you to sleep, which is very sweet. Understandably exhausting, though. lol

My birthday is in December, too! :o It's encouraging to see a woman your age is still gaming--and I hope that comment doesn't make you feel ancient, that's not my intent! There's just this idea that when women pass a certain age they've become too old for, well, anything, so it's nice to see people going against the grain.

I'm OP. I forgive you. lol I'm not sure there actually IS much of a discussion on the topic that can be had here. I thought the coincidence (or is it a coincidence) was amusing and wanted to share it.

Hey, if you were born on the same day as me (Frank Sinatra's b'day no less), THAT would be hysterical! And by now, I'd totally spaced that you were the OP! Hmmm.... maybe a bit too much wine tonight? Nah. Never too much wine....

Nope, I don't feel ancient. In fact, husband and I and the dog walked about two miles this afternoon (as we do any day the weather is good - because keeping social distance is absolutely NO problem in a town of less than 100 full time families....)

Tomorrow or the next day I have to help a friend and his partner start putting his studs to the mares. I don't handle the studs any more - THANK THE GODDESSES! - but I'm the one that makes sure they clean the stud and the mare etc. I'm also the one who vaccinates and worms.

/grumble - Should have taken my vet friend up on his offer of employment back when my gelding was a baby.... Lordy. That was.... 1991.... But we were retiring in 1994, so didn't make sense to go there. How time flies....

Ahaha, that'd be great, alas, my birthday is the 27th. And NOW you're putting me to shame, because it sounds like you're a much more active person than I am. To be fair, I've always tended to be very sedentary and low energy, so, probably, everyone on this forum is more active than me. I love that you get to work so closely with horses! That's been a dream of mine since I was, well, smaller than I am now.

I'm going to attempt to go to bed now. If anyone wants to come by this thread, chat about the moon, their life, their experience actually getting a hold of the new motif, whatever, have at it!

Well, you're closer to my sister (24th) and my very good long time friend (30th) than to me - but still.... December is a month of light and life - and change. So we all have that in common. I LOVE winter, and I love having been born in December - the deep of cold, of change.

I don't like spring (allergies UGH) or summer (heat - MORE than ugh....) Fall is wonderful; winter is my "home season". Unfortunately, I was the only winter devotee in a family of summer hedonists - so I had to deal with beaches, deserts, and unending sun.... Ew. I'd be perfectly happy to never see the sun....

I am pretty active - because if I didn't do proactive I'd sit here in front of the computer until hell froze over. And I can't say that would be a bad thing really - because as long as my mind is active and engaged, I'm not all that worried about my body (because I'm very much like my paternal grandmother - who was 105 when she died....) However, husband has various health issues (he's nearly 86) and walking does mitigate some of them. But one of his problems is osteoporosis, so he cant walk alone in case he falls and breaks something (like a hip - VERY bad news); therefore I walk with him, and take the cell phone with me (silliness, really - it doesn't work here.... but it does seem to make him feel better....)

We each opt for actions that we hope mitigate issues. Do they? We don't really know. But I DO know that as long as I have lived, as long as I have ACTED, things have not been hopeless. Hopeless happens when you give up...

Sleep well, and I hope the same for myself!

@Versispellis Now your conversation has me thinking- I never realized that the moon has an effect on dreaming and mood, but I'm beginning to wonder if I'm also being influenced by this as I tend to cycle through periods where I will have strange, vivid dreams all night long and other nights where it seems my mind is quieter. I'll have to start keeping track of it to see if it is indeed the cycles of the moon that are influencing me. (Strangely enough...I'm also 33, but was born in late September, on the 21st)

That being said, I'm quite fond of the new motif. Got the bow today! Hoping for another piece tomorrow :3
    Legends never die
    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause

Dragonguard Supply crate. If you've done enough Dragonguard dailies a chest should be available for you to loot once a day on the lower level of the Dragonguard sanctuary, in front of Dirge.

For reminding you to be proactive about getting yourself to sleep - so hopefully the strange dreams aren't so awful.... and some people keep the old druidic or wiccan ways where moon phases and other "passages" are more important than they are in "mainstream" religion/cultures.

The moon cycle affects my dreams/mood too. That's why I have the app, as a reminder that I may need to be more mindful of myself. Hang in there!

Uh. My dreams at two of the moon phases exist thanks. I'm not superstitious; I'm simply stating a fact. I have a chart for the last 15 years tracking the nights I dream and the nights I don't (I'm talking the "strange" ones), and it overlays pretty closely with New Moon and Full Moon.

That is the self-fulfilling prophecy effect - it aligns because you believe that it would.

Btw: i don't want to mock you or something - but if this is a real problem for you, think about it - you yourself expect it to happen and are creating the problem yourself and then you search for proof that it isn't your fault but something external. Once you understand that this is all just superstition and self-imposed problems, you will have a better life.

@Lysette Part of it is a little superstition, for me. I have a particular cycle I go through each month that seems to coincide with the lunar cycle. Whether someone believes that's rational is up to them, and I don't fault anyone for being skeptical! For me, it's not completely outside the realm of belief, as the moon affects the tides, and provides more light on certain nights (people who don't live out in a rural place may not realize just how LUMINOUS the nights can be!), which may affect someone's sleep.

Now, speaking for myself, it doesn't cause me any distress. I actually look forward to the deep dreaming. I actually agree with you that if this is a belief that causes someone distress, practicing some mind-over-matter may be beneficial to them--whether that's in the form of pragmatic dismissal, like you suggest (totally valid approach), or through some other avenue provided by their belief (if it's a religious thing).

Of course, @Sylvermynx is 73, and I think she's entitled to have her ways, however mysterious or baffling. lol

You asked for reasons to have the app installed: I also have it installed just because I find the moon fascinating. Moon gazing is one of my little hobbies and I like to be informed of what to look for. This is a time saver for me, because before apps like this, I had to keep track of these things myself.

@ArchangelIsraphel @Nord_Raseri So many people with funny little commonalities!
