Why do Zenimax/bethesda charge €1 on players who pay or renew their ESO+ subscription?

Curious practice and given the number of players, this must represent a pucky sum... disgusting...

    I don't know what you're on about. When I used to subscribe, I paid by credit card and the only amount charged was the sub. Maybe something tied to your payment method/jurisdiction?

    Or is it like what happens when I change payment methods: I see a US $1 charge (so ZOS can verify it's a good payment option) which is then refunded later.
