    Yes. The game should be reworked so that all skills consist of an identical animation of identical length, so that no one has to worry about anything complicated like thinking about what they're doing. It's too confusing and difficult to have wonder when the animation is going to end, and so all animations should be the same so you never have to worry about that. Maybe, if players want, different classes can have different-colored animations, to provide class identity.

    It's one thing to be able to cancel to be able to dodge and block. Most games let you do that. ESO takes it too the next level. Chaining attacks so that animations are removed to artificially raise your DSP higher then the game originally intended. Animation normally is part of class balance. Some games even changing a classes animation so that classes fitting the same roles don't have an unfair advantage. Zeni has gone so far from that, the game needs a large scale rework to get there.

    I don't have a problem with a toggle to turn all animations and effects off, as long as it comes with text overlays with prompts so you don't have to run animations in PVP, just get block, dodge, interrupt text bubbles so you can react. I think the hearing impaired would really benefit from this, had a few deaf friends who left a long time ago because of some events that only had sound queues.

    "We" don't have to cancel anything. In any case, it's pretty standard for games to have cancel/undo built into how they work. The question is how it is implemented, and whether or not it is implemented well.

    After playing for a while with the new patch, the changes to how animations flow into blocking really helped improve the feel of that aspect. It definitely has done a lot to resolve my major gripe with how animation cancels are handled in this game - what happens on screen should match the calculations the game is making behind the scenes. There's still room for some more improvement, certainly, but it's definitely getting there!

    Animations that look old or stiff should be reworked.

    Some of the run/walk cycles, especially swashbuckler and commander.

    Some other animations could be improved. Rezzing animation could be varied between old and new instead of just the new gasping one.

    Hm, there are a few weapon animations that could use more flair and impact.

    I’d like it if Argonians had crocodile swim just for some variety.

    I know that’s not what you meant but the animation cancelling argument is so old and tired it’s not worth discussing again.

    Of course they should be. Animation cancelling is a work around because the game was made with some animations that are too long so need to be canceled so they don’t interfere with the next skill.

    Not recognizing animation cancellation as an exploit to begin with and cutting it out of the game early is ZOS's biggest mistake and they have been paying for it ever since trying to keep up with allowing this "play style".

    Have you actually looked at the videos of the people who post the 70/80/90k parses on the Trial Dummy? That doesn't look like "button mashing" to me.

    I'm sure you type much, much, much faster than what you're being asked to do to get those types of parses. :joy:

    No matter how you rework the animations there will always be someone out there cancelling them cause they're not fast enough. Instead the animations should blend together so its not so jarring as it is now.

    Not being able to clear vCR+0 with BIS gear in a heavy attack build (aka not light attack weaving) is a you issue im afraid. VCR+0 has literally no dps check, all you have to do is do mechanics, not be stupid and survive. Same with HoF, HoF was cleared after Morro patch, aka when our dps was much lower than it is now and heavy attack builds can exceed the morro dps Level, not to Mention that they nerfed HoF so not being able to clear that is, once again, a you issue.

    They already reworked the animation, actually. Next step is to just remove all animation. Just have the character stand in the "cross" pose and slide across the ground as we move.

    Yes it should be removed completly, the game is still unstable lags, desyncs, frame drops, teher is no point to have anim cancel at all. and btw it is an exploit wich is also against the TOS (LOL i know right? :D we basicly exploiting the game )

    There are some skills that shouldn't be cancel-able but I feel as if a majority of them should be. However they should be still be somewhat telegraphed even if they are canceled.

    I do feel bad for trying to actually be constructive in a Knowledge-poll but here goes nothing...

    No animation should exceed the GCD for instant skills and respective cast time/channel time for cast time/channel skills.

    It's really that simple. Trying to balance MMO combat around animation length is a bad idea and the fact that balanced trait is no longer in the game proves it.

    With any skill, the server determines when the damage occurs. What we see with animation canceling is mostly a desync between the client and the server. Further, with all skills there is a GCD of ~1 second that controls how much time is required for that skill. That is the control for all skills.
