Good spots for crafting materials

InRetrospect
Hi friends. I’ve been wasting a lot of time trying to find crafting materials, and I know there are some good places to find certain things but I’m having trouble remembering other than there being a lot of beasts in Northern Elsweyr by the crafting station hut, in the plains in between Riverhold and Rimmen, which produces a lot of medium armor crafting material but outside of that. I know on the sides of mountains etc for jewelry and ore but like, places where there seems to always be a lot, same with wood and light armor materials.

The spread of mats is more or less equal across the zones. So find an underpopulated zone and go Farming. I would suggest any of the original 15.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Beginner zones like Stros M'kai have often certain paths, where you find a magnitude of nodes all within a few meters from each other. In Stros M'kai for example it starts north of the main wayshrine at the bridge heading west until you reach the sea and then heading south until you get to the point of interest there. I did that a lot in both directions when i started with ESO.

A low population Cyrodiil zone is easily the best place to farm mats. Thousands of unpicked mats lying around, and the Psijic portals drop a great selection of armor pieces.

Just check your map occasionally to see where the fighting is, and stay away from it. Friendly territorry is the safest, but the zone is so big that you can run around in enemy territorry for hours without seeing anybody, if you stay away from the towns, and off the main paths to and from and away from the keeps themselves.

The biggest problem is that the Cyrodiil material nodes are spaced extremely far apart.

Unless you have an optimized farming "speed build" and maxed out horse, farming Cyrodiil for materials is a huge waste of time - since you can go to literally any other zone and not need to run miles to the next node.

However, the Cyrodiil material nodes are great if/when you are exploring Cyrodiil to get 100% zone completion (skyshards, delves, dolmens, etc.) - most of the time you will be already far away from the front lines where any fighting happens, and occasionally stopping to pick up a node is a great way to refill your mount's stamina.

And as for other zones... although I haven't been farming those specifically, I did see fairly high crafting node densities in Bal Foyen and Stros M'Kai, as well as in Khenarti's Roost - although the latter is plagued by what looks like incessant botting.

I think craglorn is typically preferred because of the chance to loot nirncrux

As mentioned by @Lysette, the starter zones are really good places to farm mats:

    - Khenarthi's Roost (Aldmeri Dominion starter zone)
    - Bleakrock Isle (Ebonheart Pact starter zone 1)
    - Bal Foyen (Ebonheart Pact starter zone 2)
    - Stros M'Kai (Daggerfall Covenant starter zone 1)
    - Betnikh (Daggerfall Covenant starter zone 2)

You may want to go to specific zones depending on what type of mat you need to farm-- Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Clothing, Enchanting, Jewelry, or Woodworking. For example, when I need to farm Clothing mats for Medium Armor, I usually go to Stros M'Kai and head to the area near Bthzark, because there are a lot of wolves there and they respawn pretty quickly, so you can just run around in a big circle and keep farming wolves.

If you need mats for Provisioning, just head to a delve and loot every crate, bag, sack, backpack, basket, etc.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
