Why do you solo pvp?

There might be different reasons for each person, like 1vXing and stuff. I personally love good fights, but the main reason why i mostly solo pvp is because of freedom. Freedom of deciding where to go, who to fight, when to leave and also i'm too lazy to tell people what to do.
Why do you solo pvp?

    The same reason.

Not being dependent on anyone, because random groups rarely work. They dont buy sieges, they dont follow crown etc...

Only times I group is with my guild runs, because they know what they are doing and it is always friendly and smooth with guild.

I sometimes PvP when my PvP guild is not doing anything and I do not like running with the large groups.
    Really, idk

To pick and choose the battles I want to go to. Also, to do things like check for sneaky sneaks after a successful keep defense, as opposed to being forced to follow my group if they have no interest in being thorough.
To be able to go AFK if, say, my cat is making suspicious noises and ARE YOU ON THE COUNTER AGAIN YOU FUZZY EMBODIMENT OF CHAOS?!?!
And if I’m on an alt with a slow mount, I’ll just be falling behind even with rapids.

Even if I’m not in a group, I try to be as helpful to others as I can with heals, rezes, whatever class-relevant utility I have to offer, when we’re defending a keep (my favorite thing to do in Cyro) or whatever.

(Edit: and I want to reiterate that when I’m talking about playing solo, I just mean ungrouped, not alone. I still prefer objective-based PVP and being out in the wilderness attacking other players doesn’t really appeal to me. More power to you if it does, I just need a different kind of focus).

    Grouping or PUG'ing ?

PUG is usually as good/bad as solo.

Specialized grouping or even raiding i gave up many years ago.

because soloing or small scaling is the most rewarding gameplay there is . You rely on yourself to do good, and if you win a 1vx it is most likely because of a mixture of you playing better and having a better setup. Relying on yourself forces you to become better, and this in turn allows you to do more impressive 1vxs. there is a nice feed back loop here. This is especially true in no cp imo, and back when the game worked a lot better. With all the current bugs, like break free being a roll of a die, the whole skill improvement argument sadly is less of a thing as you stop being in charge of your character

I agree so much with this too. It took me a lot of deahts but i eventually became decent at pvp. I also pvped without pots for a very long time and that helped as well.

Same reasons as you OP. Freedom. Very often I have to go afk or completely log off because of my job and home responsibilities. Sometimes I like to watch a show on second monitor etc.

Additionally there is nothing more satisfying than 1vXing opponents, and the more you do it, the better you're at it.
I am doing my best, but I am not a native speaker, sorry.

I usually split my time 50/50 between solo or small scale group. Part is that I play a sniper and while I usually don't gank at pointless spots, I do it at keeps behind other players of my alliance. Or I kite enemies to other allies.I do like the freedom to go wherever I want when I want. Sometimes I follow larger groups and help them out, but if the battle is starting to seem pointless, as in we're not gonna get the keep, I go to another fight and help out there instead. And I can also avoid the Alessia bridge fight 100% of the time.

Performance issues has prevented me from grouping in cyrodil for a couple of years now but I’m fine with that being an Aussie so if you see me hanging outside a keep under attack sorry sometimes I just can’t enter till half of you are dead ;)

    I'm mainly a PvE player.
I have scheduled Trial and Dungeon runs all week, plus the unscheduled ones.

I love PvP too, but I do that on my "free" time. I'm always with groups several days a week, so that's a nice thing to have an activity solo, and killing a ton of people in BGs is more fun than endlessly running vMA or soloing DLC dungeons.

I would add that going solo in cyro is a good way to get better. I had a dueling guild a long time ago, before the dueling feature, and it helped me a lot to get better. When you always play with a group you don't have the same necessity to get better to do well.

I started as pver as well, but i eventually realized that the only way i have fun right now is by killing other players.

My playtime's choppy and hard to plan so most of the time I can't get a group.

Same reason as you. Freedom to do anything. I used to lead pug group but its an exhausting job especially when raiding for scroll, lots of coordination and AP spent for camp, siege, etc. Sometime I got blamed if raid failed.

Now I mostly solo sometime zerg surfing. Taking resource, fighting someone taking resource, go whenever there is cross sword on the map or flagged keep.

Short Answer: Performance. PvE runs perfectly smooth in ultra.

    Long answer:
The game is beautiful. The mechanics are fun. I play pve because the sense of achievement is stronger. I got nearly all the Hard mode achievements in this game, and I'm progressing toward the ones I'm missing.

PvP is a long process. I'm constantly trying to get better. But what is the ultimate goal? Grand Overlord? Emperor? I feel like there is a lot to be done in PvP, but it's not as simple as just getting a clear. I've been playing for 5 years now, and I still consider PvP to be my "final goal". I feel like it's the right way for me to actively focus first on PvE content clear and then progress on PvP on the side rather than ignoring PvE content to focus on an activity that has no end.

PvP is the endgame. But first I have to finish PvE. And well... It takes time.

If I group up with a group then Im basically doing what I would be doing if I was solo: going where the action is.

Grouping just makes it easier to follow where the faction is putting their strength at.

Well there are a few very valid reasons... in no particular order...

    - Sometimes I do not want to speak with or interact with anyone. I need solitude sometimes and I never get lonely.
    - Sometimes I am playing at times when there are few if any guild mates or alliance mates online, or who want to group up.
    - Sometimes I am just on for a quick smash n grab for AP, I dont have long and just want to mess around a bit.
    - Sometimes, though this is rarer, I just want a challenge, for example - lets see how many of that big group attacking one of our keeps I can pick off...

There are probably other reasons but thats enough for starters.

ps, edit, I group up often, I enjoy grouping, I enjoy group play, this isnt under discussion, solo play is.

    same I guess, freedom.

I don't find stack on crown, kite, ult dump, repeat, to be the pinnacle of pvp skill others find it to be.

I like going where I want and fighting what I want and how I want, yeah it sucks to be, like, the only solo players trying to fight groups as everyone seems to have grouped up and gotten tanky so its just banging your head on a brick wall till you get ult dumped.

but I just enjoy wandering wherever I want.

that said I have naturally encountered very good small man groups and augmented them for a fight or two, its very easy to tell what they are doing and help them out.

    Few different reasons.

    -nobodys on

-mic silent or just dont feel like talking

-dont want the responsibility of being crown finding fights, getting people out of a sticky situation

-dont want to worry about staying on crown so can try to pull off a quick kill and string some out.

-you do get zerged solo but people crying about it are a bit off. Its usually more like you are just easy opportunity solo if they happen to cross you. If they see a smaller enemy group, it's more of a commitment of the large group to kill you all to make sure there's no camp. If you beat a few people in a camp though, or at the back of a zerg, better not linger as they will then commit to you.

Haven't done much of anything lately though

I mainly solo, purely for the freedom .. I choose where I want to go, when I want to fight.

I will group with my guild when they’re in Cyrodiil, if they send an invite.

.. & there have been times when I have accepted a random group invite .. low population, late at night etc.

There's something about having no one else to rely on that makes me love running solo. I like to know that when I win a fight, it was because of me. When I lose, it lets me know that I need to improve. Also, the freedom to run around and do whatever I feel like doing is nice.
