Is it legal to trade ESO Steam gifts for in-game gold?

I know it is legal to trade items from in-game crown store for in-game gold with other players. But is it legal to trage ESO content from Steam store (like ESO+, Greymoor etc.) for ESO in-game gold? I don't think this can be treated as RMT as the money will go to Zenimax via Steam store and a seller doesn't require access to a buyer's account to send a gift... but I don't want to be banned in case it is prohibited by some reason

Gina isn't enough for you? She has clarified that it is perfectly allowable to trade gold for crown store items in several threads in the past. Here are two direct links to her saying so:

Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

But really it's like buying in-game gold from ZOS, no? Is there some ToS entry this trade violates or any else proof? Please :)

The TOS has language prohibiting buying or selling goods for Real World Money. Not sure where it is exactly but it is in there.

It's tolerated, but not encouraged or supported. If you get scammed ZOS won't do anything to help you. So I don't advise you to buy off people spamming zone chat, especially if their prices seem way too low. Ex. on EU-PC the price is around 350-400 gold/crown but anything under about 275 gold/crown is suspect; prices may vary a lot across platform. But the safest option is to join a crown exchange Discord server which have an intermediary. Crowns may be on the expensive side, but at least the risk of getting scammed is very low.

While OP's hypothesis is very general, trading an out of game item or money for something in-game is strictly prohibited. That is the specific way Gina explained it.

Any item purchased via steam is out of the game so it would be prohibited to trade it for gold or anything else in game.

trading crowns IS legal correct, but OP was asking about trading Steam cards for gold which is NOT legal in game and very much frowned upon and will get you banned as it is classed as an "out of game item"

No, it is illegal and definitely falls under RMT.

For all of you who are trying to bring Gina's two comments into this:
To clarify, trading an in-game item for other in-game items is allowed; trading in-game items for real-world money or other out-of-game items is strictly prohibited.
A Crown Store item is considered an in-game item.
Trading a Crown Store item for in-game gold is fine since Crown Store items are considered in-game items. Chapters or ESO+ subscription you buy from Steam (or even ZOS' store page) do not fall under "in-game items". And per Gina's words, "trading in-game items for real-world money or other out-of-game items is strictly prohibited".

ESO+ and Greymoor might be game items, but based on how they're sold, I would say they are classified as out-of-game items . You can't buy them in-game, meaning they're not in-game items and as such I'd say it's probably against TOS.

I didn't make it clear enough in my response that if it is giftable from the crown store in game then it is fine. If not giftable then it isn't.

On top of this, we do know that Zos has taken action against gold sellers and likely those who bought the gold. We do not know what that action is but we can safely assume, at the very least, Zos took the gold from the player that received it.

    This it not correct.

I guess it's not technically incorrect, since the definition of illegal does also include something that's prohibited by "official or accepted rules," but yeah, it is a little funny how often some people seem to equate breaking a game's ToS with actually breaking a law. :D
