Is it even possible to fix this game?

Overall it’s not that dire. There is two pressing issues although they are major.

    1) Server/client stability and performance.

We all know the problems. So let’s move on.

    2) Combat.

Combat has turned bland overall with watered down abilities.
    Race passives are a mess.
And animation canceling has gone from something only the high end players used, to a standard tool that the new vet dungeons (and maybe even normal versions) are designed with in mind. This creates a two tiered combat system that is restricting content to a great proportion of the players.

In short, combat is a mess.

    But...

The chapters are interesting, and the game looks great.

I just knew A/C would be brought up! PIN YOUR EARS BACK!!! MAJORITY of players WANT A/C! [snip] Combat IS a mess but its not due to A/C! Nothing is unavailable as everyone can learn how to dps if they CHOOSE to!

Also i agree with point 1.

Sigh. First what is your source if AC is wanted by the majority? Did you mean majority of forum posters? Because there is no other way to measure it.

Second, making dungeons and pvp the realms of a minority of players is not winning strategy. We don’t get a lot of new pvp areas or trials. Why? Because not many people use them. And if you have to wait a long time for one of the new dungeons (like mazz) it’s because they are not really that popular either.

AC has been in the game since it began. The percentage of players using it now is what it’s going to be. Zos is not going to make content for a minority of players. What is new is that the new content is depending players to know it.
So don’t expect more pvp maps, just a single trial per year. And just a few dungeons because (I believe) the player base can’t keep up.
However expect at least two houses per quarter, and a ton more costumes and furniture packs. Because guess what the “majority” of players want?

    Jesus!

Every possible measure that can be carried out shows the majority use and want A/C fast based combat not turn based animation watching like Final fantasy. But yes as you said only forum can really be done so every forum post has shown the majority WANT A/C.

Dungeons and pvp are available to everybody!

The reason this game is in decline is the majority of talented people have been pushed to ES6, ESO is just getting milked for the last bit of $$ now hence the houses and all that stuff so people buy crown stuff etc.

But this game is dying now so whatever happens it dont matter, it will never be good again, every patch it gets worse and worse and more bugs and crashes are introduced.

Only thing that needs to be fixed besides the bugs/crashes is the combat.

This game will never be taken serious as long as animation cancel keeps being exploited. It makes all the classes seem the same, and it has force the developers to balance around it.

We will have a much better game, if they fix it..and balance the skills around its animation.

Gw2 has a better combat system, and has very little AC. ESO developers could learn from them.

Because you just came back and dont A/C, now imagine you have been playing the whole 6 years and enjoy fast combat like the kind this game was designed to play with A/C, skill chaining and burst and some potato's are wanting to make you slow down to 1 skill per second while your character dances around like some kind of fairy.

Dont know if you realised but as your character is animating the movement is slowed, so if A/C is removed then mobility and therefore speed is literally halved.

But people who dont know how to play this game and want to watch thier character dance around like they are in a west end dance number want this so they can RP during combat with *a suspicious, cloaked figure flips a coin as they invite you into the crowded tavern.

@Solace1981 if you're not going to out line how it needs "fixing" then what exactly are we discussing?

What is with the "animation cancelling" hate?
what are you guys even talking about?
Light attack weaving? Is that the big issue?
It's a skill you can learn and master. I'll give you the big secret metronome
Set it to 60 seconds and cast a light attack and a skill every tick.

actual animation cancelling, bar swap or bash cancel is a small part of this game, I don't care about it, i don't pay attention to it and i'm parsing 80k. with 250 latency.

Combat is fine from a technical point of view.

I do agree that I would like to see more emphasis on the classes differences, whether it be unique buffs / debuffs and just generally making class skills stronger with more "personality". But balance matters, or so out PvP fellows keep telling me, so it seems the path forward is to reduce class flavour and enhance set strength so your "build" matters more than your "class".

To that point I really like how unique mDK is now with elfbane. I think anything that does "magic damage" is the most boring *** ever. Only mDK can get away with running sets like silks of the sun or elfbane because only mDK can build for only 1 damage type

Yes, the only source we have available! So 100% accurate as there is no other measure, you get that?

IF players cant do the dps required as the game currently stands when you can do 30k dps with just heavy attacks and the right gear also many many vids on how to 'git gud' at dps then they will never be able to do this content. But there are new dungeons with every single dlc, i dont know what you are talking about.

As i said this game is dying and is being milked for final bit of $$ from crown store, hopefully we can lay it to rest some time soon.

As for the other guy we were just trolling each other on another thread nothing serious.

No need to be that dramatic.

They just need to listen to feedback, but my impression is that they are very cloistered in their thinking, and not very adaptable.

If they (ZOS) really loves AC then fine, keep it in. But they have to start making dungeons and trials not depend on it. And that includes a way to get helm and shoulder pieces for those people who don't use AC.
ALSO they need to figure out how to separate the two in PvP. Players that feel that they are getting mowed down, while also not making a dent the other way are not going to return. But they balance around AC now, so PVP is not going to attract players not doing it.

The same thing happened in wow, they made the dungeons and raids harder and harder, making less people play them. So to actually warrant the budget to make that content they had to implement LFR modes.
Zos does not have that kind budget to make various "levels" of dungeons, so they will just end up making less of that content in general.

Ya it looks really bad on the developers. The least they could do for people to come back and saved this game..is to fix this glitch and give us skill based combat, that is not a exploit of a broken system.

I suggest an animation cancel CANCEL. That's right for those players that don't want to animation cancel, they can hit an extra key to cancel the animation cancel so their cancel is canceled. That way, they don't have to worry about the animation cancel cancelling their way towards victory.

Another possibility is to just bake it into the game. Let the game do it for the player so everyone is on the same page.

It's by far not ideal, but combat is a mess anyway.

I think the people who want to keep ac, does not want a combat that is more reaction base. Where they have to think on feet, and make choices where players can react and counter said choice. Instead of just cancel everything. Animation cancel really is the easy mode of this game. They just want to upload all the damage they can do base off GCD only. No reaction base combat, at all.

I get that you don't understand what an accurate source is. A source only generated from the forums is by no means accurate to what the "majority" of players want. If that was the case, judging by the amount of PvP threads on these forums you would think cyrodiil is buzzing. But right now (8pm-ish EST) on the NA/PC server most of the factions are showing 1 bar of activity, with only one campaign showing multiple bars, including Imperial City.

I would suggest a "majority" of players don't even know a forum exists, or if they do they don't even bother to visit them.

Look I get it. You appear to want few players in Cyrodiil, trials, or dungeons. But if the game is to survive, they need to get more people in those places. DPS is the issue, as I feel the mechanics themselves are not that complicated compared to other mmos.

    Short answer: yes
Long answer: judge after they have rolled out their game plan to fix the game this year. I truly think the Devs get it, in a way they didn't in the past.

The chapters are not that interesting to everyone, certainly not to me. And yes the game has always looked great, fully voice acted, very nice, but what good is it if nothing works right. The combat is the one thing this game has always had, imo, that was way better than any other mmo. When they ruin that they ruin the game, at least for me.

But they've already pretty much ruined it for me because pvp is so unplayable. So much of is is skill delay and lag.

Regardless im not sure why anyone would believe they will ever fix the issues with this game. Ill give them credit for saying they are trying, which is waaay more than they have done over the last 4 years of silence while so many people kept telling them how bad performance was getting.

But as a pvp player I have only seen performance get worse since morrwind, never better. And that leads me to believe its something very hard for them to fix, and if thats the case they probably will never fully fix it. Every single person I've ever played this game with (on a somewhat regular basis) has quit because of performance issues.

Of course is possible to fix this game. If publisher has the will for it and if it can be done in reasonable cost. Coagulated layers of 'it just works' can be rather difficult and slow to untangle.

I myself believe game will be patched just enough to not totally collapse and no more. I'd be glad to be wrong in that.
