[Feedback] The Patch Improved Many Things, Love It

Just wanted to thank the developers for listening to the community, making all these quality of life changes, and for the awesome new content. I returned after leaving sometime last year following the changes to DoTs. Here is a list of things I have noticed since the patch went live:

Feedback:
  • DLC story trailer is incredible and so are the new dungeons, love the direction and connectedness of the story telling so far.
  • Blastbones isn't useless anymore and works in battlegrounds (haven't tested in Cyrodil). In PvE however, if the original target dies and I attack a new one, the blastbones will only walk towards the new target and never leap or explode. I'd imagine this is the same case in PvP, but haven't had this scenario play out yet. Stalking morph's +10% minimum damage bonus is still not enough in my opinion. I feel distance traveled versus time walking would be a huge quality of life change to this morph. That or provide a form of utility to the morph, such as a stun or major breach/fracture.
  • Tether abilities perform better, though sometimes my heavy attacks will miss in PvE when using them or blastbones. I'm not sure of what is happening there.
  • Loading is almost instant from my experience: Windows 10, GTX 1070, Sager laptop.
  • Block animation changes look so better, I think this was a great change, I have had no issues with canceling attacks like others have reported, so far anyway.
  • Happy to see cast times remain and DoTs nerfed but not useless. The combat seems really fluid and there's time to respond, making all fights feel more fair and less nightblade-gank-instant-death-unless-you-have-shield-up-or-HoTs-stacked dominated or dragonknight-leap-swing-boom-no-time-to-respond-dead dominated. I'm sure several in the PvP community will disagree with me on this, but for casual players (the majority of those playing the game), this makes PvP feel fair and gives up a chance to play. Plus aesthetically all the changes make combat look way better.
  • New armor sets and their animations... What can I say, they're all spicy and I love them.
  • I have had zero lag with the changes, whereas I had re-occuring lag last year, but never lag that was too bad that I could no play. So whatever the devs did, I can feel it in the gameplay, and it's a great quality of life improvement.
  • Changes made to other classes I have no tested, so I cannot give my thoughts on those, but the DK stone fist animation looks awesome. I kinda wish blastbones for the magicka morph was like this, so necromancer would feel like you're summoning a lot of skeletons haha. Would definitely be interesting to see, but I'm happy with the changes on it.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new chapter content and the changes to come, especially with vampire.

Yeah I have crashed 56 tmes in 3 days now. They can have the best performance in the world, if the game constantly crashes, there is no point and it was a failed update.

Crashes aren't an indicator, I've had 1 crash since and I've been mainly in PVE/BGs since it dropped.

Uhhh, yeah it is, if a massive amount of people, and most of cyro are crashing every 5-30 minutes, it is a failure, especially since it was marketed as a PERFORMANCE update. And sure the frames are better, but its pointless if you crash every 5 - 30 minutes.

I was unaware about 5-10 people on the forums indicated a massive amount of people. I suggest contacting technical support to see what the problem is. Google will test your internet connection for free, and you can send your computer specs to the support team to see if your computer can handle the game's graphics. If the problem were the update, everyone would be affected. I have had no issues.

    Is this a troll post?

DLC story trailer: I sure hope you aren’t referring to the cinematic they released for greymoor which has nothing to do with the game itself.

Happy to see cast times remain and dots nerfed: If you like certain classes having cast times on all of their ultimates you are just wrong and (probably biased against nightblades specifically). Didn’t see what changes to dots they made this patch, but they were already nerfed to the point that many were not viable.

Less-nightblade-gank: if you are still complaining about nightblades that is 100% l2p.

No lag with the changes: I don’t even know what to say to that, unless it has drastically changed since Tuesday, lag is unplayable to the point I’m not going to even try pvp again until they get some of the initial patch kinks worked out. (Hopefully) The one time I entered cyro since patch I was getting 4 seconds of lag, 80% of skills didn’t fire and my game crashed after 20 mins.

I’m not trying to be rude if you sincerely believe these things to be true, but I’m going to be honest. It is very frustrating to see these white knight posts praising ZOS on specific points they continue to let us down on and are the greatest pain points in an otherwise great game. If ZOS wants a pat on the back for their performance they need to earn it, and I fear these sorts of posts give them the wrong impression.

What I see on PC EU (addons disabled):

    - loading time is same as before, it is around 1 minute for me from launching the game till getting into the world.

    - I have a feeling that the graphics is better. I had no lags before, I don't have them now. They only lag experience I had was several yeras ago: during the very first New Live Festival celebration when all players came to Breda at once.

-Yesterday I was playing from early morning till night. Not a single crash. At night I went to Cyrodiil with a group. Had one crash, other group members also crashed from time to time. It was during travelling, not during the fights.

I don't mind the patch, I hate that the block change is inconsistent and only applies to a handful of skills.

Like 30% follow the new animation cancel, 30% can't do it anymore and 40% still remained

It's sad and depressing, because almost everybody I know universally agrees that things have improved, other than for some fringe cases, which ZoS has already said they're looking into. But instead of even considering that their add-ons, their system, could be causing some issue they're having (since it's obvious not everybody is having those issues). They will come in and relentlessly attack and scream "white knight" at anybody who has had a good experience.

I crashed once after the update... in probably 8 hours of gameplay. It's gonna happen on patch day.

To the OP. I'm glad you're enjoying it (even if we may not agree on all your points), and I think this is a step in the right direction. Don't let the (extremely) vocal minority distract you or dissuade you.

Yeah, all of cyro, dozens of streamers, and hundreds of their followers are a dozen people. I crashed 56 times in 3 days.

and... I'm sorry about that. But it's not my experience, my friends' experience, nor the OP's experience.

What gives you the right to completely dismiss (and belittle them) their perspective because yours is different? That's the definition of arrogance.

And you are doing the same thing, [Snip].

I’m not seeing any improvements in PVE. It’s exactly the same as before for me. Except for the crashing when logging out. And some skills not playing (I don’t intentionally animation cancel) but it could be the class not the game. Maybe if you have a weaker machine the improvements are more evident? I can’t give this patch a grade just yet for PVE performance. Next week I’ll have more time to pass judgment.

Crashed zero times, but I don't ball up and zerg in memory leaked areas. I play more solo and never have FPS issues or crashes.

Well I think the point is there shouldn't be any memory leaks.

I certainly didn't, the OP didn't, they are stating their experience they've had. ZoS hasn't, there's literally a thread in "bug reports" forum where they acknowledge that some people are having crashes in Cyro, their looking into it, and that some are caused by add-ons.

So... who are you referring to?

.Guys, please, it is really bad for some and I understand that they are pretty unhappy with it, because they are basically unable to play "their" game. But a lot have no or just minor issues and if their experience improved, I think ZOS should know about this as well, in order to get feedback what works on a wider scale and what doesn't. I had a CTD about an hour ago, my first one, on arrival after teleport to Balmora by no obvious reason, but otherwise i have a really good time playing

I'm not totally feeling it yet. I do have addons.

    The Good.
    1. Only one non Cyrodil crash (endless load screen).
    2. Framerate is more stable.

    The bad.
    1. While some load screens are faster, there are some that have remained unchanged. I have specifically noticed Hews Bane and Thieves Guild have shown no improvement (including the Heist's quests).
    2. Overall FPS is down, even though it is more stable.
    3. Not sure if related. Overall ping seems higher. I would normally be around 80ms now it is consistently between 110 - 120 with more spikes.

I've had some shorter loading screens but did have a couple reloading UI that were about a minute long.

PvE land seems to be fine.
I heard of 1 or 2 crashes in Murkmire but didn't have any problems myself anywhere I went to collect surveys and get my tickets

    Cyrodiil is a mess.
75%+ of the players out there are experiencing numerous crashes.

I has a group of 8 people running I Cyrodiil for about 2 hours. Everyone crashed at least 2-3 times

I crashed 5 times in 2 hours myself
2x trying to port to another keep
2x approaching a keep with a medium size fight inside.
Once just running solo in a deserted area of the map with no one around at all.
I was running because I was afraid to port and crash again.

So while it's great that some things seem to be better, there are still some big problems happening that need to be fixed and fixed quickly

Yeah all of the people complaining = a dozen people with bad hardware/too many Addons lmao

Its funny, all of my pvp guildmates report crashes... so if the game worked fine before the update, what could cause the crashes ? i guess they have downgraded their hardware during the downtime of the game, because we all know what a great history zos has.... xD

Zos even admitted that there are crashes whitch arnt related to addons, but us we all know the server could burn down and there still would be ppl who ask if you hardware is *** or if you dont have an active internet conection.

It could be an ability that is character/class dependent that is causing the crashes, maybe? Something that others are doing differently that is causing the problem. I play magicka necromancer and haven't had any issues, what class do your guildies play, what abilities are used? Or maybe it could have something to do with the coding changes to do parallel computing/use multiple cores. I have a fairly modern GPU, GTX 1070, but maybe older GPUs cores cannot be used with the newer code?

Yeah I have really been liking the changes to load screens. It takes SO much less time. Two thumbs up on that. I haven't experienced any crashes or problems with the game, and now that most of the add ons have been updated, there isn't even a problem with that.

Yeah I have really been liking the changes to load screens. It takes SO much less time. Two thumbs up on that. I haven't experienced any crashes or problems with the game, and now that most of the add ons have been updated, there isn't even a problem with that.

I'm still waiting on AUI to update, that's like my favorite addon. : '(

PC NA, no Steam, solo PvE here. No problems with the patch. No crashes. In fact, I'm pleased because it contained no significant nerfs to how I play.

Though my game is smooth and enjoyable, I'm sorry that others are having performance problems such as crashes.
