Vampire's drain essence change. Feels like a bug.

Hello.

First of all, i read a litle about this change before this posting and i want to say, that if the original effect being stunned while draining was a exploitable mechanism in PVP, it needed some change.

Secondly. This is just a sort of change that makes me dislike PVP players more and more each time my abilities that felt well done in PVE were made "Broken" at least on immersion point of wiev. Why do the developers feel need to punish PVE players because there is a problem in PVP? I really should blame developers, but instead i blame the PVP part of the game and think the game might have been much better without that part. Not because i hate PVP but i have extreme dislike agains PVE getting the short straw due PVP. I actually liked the ESO PVP the litle i do it while exploring Cyrodil.

These changes should have been implemented only to PVP. And even there, i feel like the stun belongs where it is most painful to the recipient which is, while draining. Maybe the change should have been on the damage output or the heal... Maybe reliable stun cooldowns so that multiple players with same stun cant stunlock the opponent.

While i use it now on PVE combat, it feel like there is a bug in the ability. An ability delay of sorts, a communication problem between server and the client which makes stuns happen too late. Why does it not hurt the enemy when i drain him/her? Why is the enemy holding its head and screaming in pain after his life essence was drain? Why does the enemy not collapse to the grpound on its knees from exhaustion being drained? Instead he screams like he is NOW being drained while in reality, the enemy was drain earlier. It just feels like a bug and while i like vampire, the drain was only ability that i used, i did not like the mistform or the batswarm that much. So now the coold ability feels broken to me and since its not really broken but changed because some PVP issue, my circle of hate begins all over again. I blame the PVP. I blame the devs, the PVP players who exploit mechanics and all because someone on the ZOS side did not do the necessary work to keep the ability cool and immersive for PVE abd also fair in PVP

Its just that i think these sorts of changes make game less fun for many people. Create strain between different types of players and anger between combatants on PVP side.

I for one am getting pretty tied of losing fun and immersive stuff on PVE because there is a problem on PVP. This is not just an issue on ESO, but in other games i play as well.

Yeah, this is a change I said a few words about in the PTS forum and am not looking forward to. They've gutted and removed so many stuns in this game because of PvP I'm more than tired of it. What's particularly frustrating about this is that they can just have two different functionalities in PvP and PvE. We used to have an ability that did exactly that - stuns NPCs and snares players. They removed that too a few patches ago and it was dumb. The better solution to drain would have been to stun NPCs as it does now (well, on console it still does anyway) and snare PCs.

The main issue is that the developers want people not having to relearn their entire class and skills for PvP, which is why they don't make use of these changed behaviors anymore. And while I get where they're coming from, I don't think it's healthy for the game over all. It certainly won't make people try out new things if they drive a wedge between PvP and PvE players by always nerfing skills one side likes just to please the other.

More skills should be like Negate - Silence in PvP, stun in PvE. Thinking that players wouldn't be able to handle more of this is belittling them.

Indeed. and its not even that im against a change once in a while. subtle changes that make sense also in terms of immersion and cause&effect connection.

They are also showed, that they are capable of separating PVP and PVP in terms of how abilitis work. The way you described would have made more sense in this ability. Works as it did previously work (And still on PS) in PVE and replace stun with snare on PVP. Also recipient based CC cooldowns make possibility of exploit lessen due not being able to be stunned/snared/whatever by multiple players with same ability.

It just feels like the ability is broken now. It can be used, nut the effect does not make sense to me in how the recipient shouöld react to being drained. That sort of violating drain SHOULD hurt WHEN it happens, not afterwards.

I often think its insulting towardss playerbase to think, that they cant learn slightly different actions in different playstyles.

Like if PVE Stun ability is instead Snare in PVP or root, it is still very close to the other and the learning curve is extremely low to remember the difference. Especially in ESO, where there are only few skills in use of whole arsenal.

Stun in PVE replaced by root for example in PVP also makes sense in immersive point. We are the "Champions" so to say, the slightly or more stronger than those normal opponents out there. Effect should be diluted when you use it towards more powerful opponent. It only makes sense.

Each its own i say and i also like the PVP aspect in Cyrodil while i am just a PVE player. I like the risk it invoilves. It makes sense in a warzone to have hightened risk of death. I dont want to go blaming the PVP for changes in PVE because of developer short sightness but it always happens without me noticing, because when i notice these things i tend to get annoyed and think less rationally, thus projecting to anger to the playerbase who wanted the change. Afterwards i realize its the developers who made the error my making wrong choice on how to implement fixes on PVP. Playerbase does not need thos sort of strain. It creates hostility on many areas of the game tpwards the playstyle that you dont use but the other player loves.

Someone slot drain in PvE for the stun?

    Where is the doubt button?

It would be cool if it slowed down then stunned.

Just like that psijic skill morph does.

Maybe even copy paste that effect.

edit: But for single target. Because I know someone is going to rag on me about aoe if I don't specify. :D

For me, it is yes and no. The stun that lasts through the channeling makes sense in immersive point of wiev but its also more connected to its cause. The one being drained should be the one being disabled like with vampire feed, because it is highly violent and invasive attack.. If thered be any after effect, it should be an opponent grasping for air in the grounbd for a moment or maybe enraged by the attack, like going berserk from rage and dealing more damage to me but being more vulnerable, but when the drain ends, the opponent is usually dead so the stun is basically wasted like it was not there at all.

It also gives good damage and heal naturally which is good, but the disable effect is in the wrong place and where it is now, it just feels like a bug rather than working as intended and in larger picture, these kind of changes makes me gringe to PVP side which is totally unnecessary and avoidable by better designing stuff.

Why not just give the vampire skill tree an AOE stun similar to fear or turn evil? Hell they could even mimic the conal aoe stun off the bats in BRP. Then change essence drain to a uninterruptible channel, remove the stun, and give it something like minor vulnerability 5 sec... this would keep in line with the vamp RPrs wishes as now your enemy takes more damage cause they were drained. Day one player here and tbh the game is in its worst state. Abilities firing off 5 full seconds after casting, populations dwindling, and the general homogenization of skills and classes have left this game stale. @ZoS , maybe its time for some new blood...

    Good input

It's interesting that forever, it was seen as an ok skill and found viability in a handful of specs, and therefore it MUST be nerfed......

Within pvp, the trade off of the skill was sitting in animation, even though it could be canceled, it was still clunky meaning you could get dunked on by anyone else around you.

I think one issue with the team is, I don't think any of them regularly pvp, so they scroll through forums to see what the issues and concerns are.

In terms of PVE, trial/dungeon groups don't slot this ability. This part of the pve community isn't impacted. I can see the *immersion* centered people wanting something else.

Yet immersion, at least competitive play, isn't even on the radar of zos. The story line and landscape is great, yet there is zero feeling of being immersed in a dangerous unknown. For immersion, when was the last time in open world you had even the slightest challenge? They can play with mechanics and abilities but if the overall function is bland and lacking then we are just ignoring the bigger problem. The biggest issue for immersion is how can you make it challenging
