Murkmire Event - Can you get duplicate Fragments to trade?

Is it possible to obtain duplicate fragments from the Strongboxes to trade for fragments we need?

So far no one I've talked to has received a duplicate (some haven't even got any fragments). I just want to confirm it is possible or if the game won't give them because we already have it 'collected'.

No, the fragments are Bind On Pickup and go directly to fragements.

It will be impossible to complete both items in the given time at current drop rates without purchasing a large nubmer of tickets.

You sure its not enough to get one piece each day from strongbox and buy rest with free tickets?

You aren't guaranteed to get a piece every day. Most people got ONE and ONLY ONE piece yesterday, but I know several people who ground out 5-6 strong boxes and got NONE. *edit: this includes people with multiple accounts who still didn't even get 1 piece from a guaranteed box

And we still don't know if you are getting duplicates, but you just don't know because you don't get a "physical" item.

it seems with the current drop rate it is impossible to get the pet, emote and berry. people will have to wait a another year to finish everything off.

Duplicate fragments can’t go to Fragments; there’s no place for them. When you get a duplicate Apple-Bobbing fragment, for example, it’s not BoP and you can trade it. It’s only the first that’s automatically added. Similarly with feathers: when they made the change to fragments, the first of each feather was added to Fragments but any duplicates sat in your inventory still.

So the questions remain: can someone get duplicate Murkmire fragments, or would a duplicate just not appear in the strongbox? And if we do get duplicates, can we trade those?

I don't think there are "physical" items in the boxes, because with Apple Bobbing you had to USE the item for it to go to fragemtns. With Murkmire momentos, it just goes straight to fragments,.

See this is what I am worried about, they zoom off to Collections (so I have no idea if there is an actual item at all!)

It is a bad system. They should all be items that players can choose to add to collections or to trade/sell if they aren't interested in the collectible (exception for the ticket vendor only feathers and berries because they don't drop anywhere else and you CHOOSE to buy them)

Yeah, I wonder. Both Apple-Bobbing parts and feathers were changed after the fact, which doesn’t make matters much clearer. If these Murkmire fragments are just Collections entitlements and not actual “physical” fragments, then we would expect never to see a duplicate in a strongbox at all — if you rolled for it, it just wouldn’t show up in the strongbox because it couldn’t be used. (Like duplicate outfit styles in BGs, or so I’m given to understand.) But we’d need data showing the fragment drop rate declined over time in order to support that supposition, and with the drop rate of strongboxes being so low in the first place and the drop rate of fragments being low on top of that, we don’t have much to go on. ZOS should really step in here to explain rather than leaving us to speculate.

I brought this up awhile ago, when the apple-bobbing bits first got transferred to Collections. I thought it was a great idea until I discovered that I could no longer combine parts to make a new runebox, unlike prior to the change. Now we don't even get to 'use' the items to convert them to fragments and the autonomy over our drops/collections as in the past has been stripped.

I'm disappointed they go straight into collections too. I have no intention of even trying to finish either item, I'm just getting tickets for the indrik, so I was planning to save any memento bits I got and either give them to people in my guild who are missing them at the end of the event or sell them.

Now they're just going to be stuck in an unfinished collection forever. (Even if I finish it I'll never use the memento, I never use any of them, that's why I don't want it.)

This also removes the more social aspect of a lot of events, trading event drops! Or just asking in guild chat 'Who needs a thing?' Events always seemed to bring more comradery than usual to guild chats (and zone chats in between whatever lovely nonsense zone chat is getting up to).

Grouping up to share daily quests so all can be completed each day seems to be the social aspect of the Murkmire event.

And people said those viewing this event structure as an experiment to see who'd feel forced to buy event tickets in the Crown Store was tinfoil hat territory.

    How's that aluminum feeling?
