EU PC - A list of things that desperatly need a change. imo.

Inventory management - Crafting bag should be available for crowns to remove blatant designer frustration monetization. (crafting bag should be in fact completely free, seeing as how extremely intentionally frustrating the loot design is in this game)

Proximity voice chat for PC - Many will disagree but i personally have learned this improves quality of gameplay in other game titles. Also immersion most of the time. As long as they give option to mute annoying players abusing this service.

Increase wall of fog range / Improve LOD's - The wall of fog that follows you around no matter where you go is unimmersive and gives a dull vibe to the envoirement, this is mostly because the range is so short therefore it's so obvious there is a wall of fog blocking ugly LOD's

Less monitization spamming - There's an obvious vibe of BUY BUY BUY that's often pulling me out of immersion. A little more sublety with your psychological manipulation of players would be appreciated. (think about the buy with crowns screen everytime you log on or the pushing to buy eso+)

Make items / quest rewards matter - Too often i'm being rewarded something that i don't give a crap about.. too much of this and i've found myself completely ignoring any quest reward or interesting loot because it's all just easy to forget pile of trash loot. Where's the uniques, where's the aedric /daedric weapons we heard so much about in the lore.

Uber uniques - In the lore there's always a weapon or two or an armor or two that is so unique only a few players can get it ever. Reward the most deserving players of your universe with a little unique flavor item that can only be in the server maximum 5 or something. Make it tradeable too so it will become an ultimate collecticable (knowing ZoS they will make this cost crowns rofl)

Arena pvp with rating - The most fun i've had in mmo's was fighting in 2v2, 3v3 arena's. unfortunatly pvp is very unbalanced (no matter what the white knight fanboys say) therefore arena pvp wouldn't be possible for now because it shines a light on how unbalanced the classes and pvp in this game really is. Stop hiding this ZoS, work on it. spend money on it. fix it. and give us Arena pvp like every other mmo succesfully has done. (oh and don't you dare hide this arena pvp behind a paywall.. dont you DARE!, it's vanilla content and should be treated as such!)

Animation canceling - This is one of the reasons why we dont have arena pvp, because this underlying mechanic is ruining it for everyone not just the people that can't manage to use this exploit. *cough feature *cough. It's unacceptable that even ZoS decided to officially call this exploit a feature when they officially declared not being able to fix it. (recent news has come to light that hopefully removes this exploit alltogether or atleast makes a first step into removing it. kudos on that ZoS.. don't accept exploits as features.)

-Be more impartial on your forum - too often i see (and the amount of people noticing this is growing daily) ZoS taking side with people defending the game and it's flawed designer choices by bashing anyone who makes painfully valid points of criticizm. Following by a legitimized reason to lock the forum due to "trolling". This is a form of actively blocking peoples right to speak out and let ZoS know that their product has many room for improvement. But often it's easy to see devs spending time and money silencing a large part of their crowd rather than redesigning and actually putting in effort in a project that's not gaining the amount of traction and moneycowing they expected it to have in the first place. (this is not the only game that uses these tactics to control public opinion, but it is one of the most obvious ones)

This is a serious topic, if people (ZoS employees) start flaming in it giving a reason for ZoS to lock it and hide this opinion i will reserve the right to reopen this topic to further a serious discussion without being silenced. I also reserve the right to repost this topic if i feel like new valid arguments can be added to support my point of view. Or if arguments were brought up that negate my stance therefore making my arguments invalid, i will remove them accordingly (my then invalid argument will be removed, not the players opinion against my argument like we see sometimes on this forum *cough ZoS)
The points im making here are not to just poke a finger on the soar spots, but to really raise awareness of what the player-side of this universe wants. It's not all about pleasing your investors and making sure they get their initial investment back times x amount.. or even making as much money as humanly possible drawing every penny from the player.
Don't forget that ZoS is a business and needs a business model. And Don't forget players want to play a game.. not a moneytrap pretending to be a game.

I would buy eso+ if only the psychological manipulation of forcing players to buy eso+ was removed, maybe even the lootboxes too since its illegal in europe and ZoS should be punished for still promoting these tactics in 2020. years after the ban on lootboxes and gambling for kids.

Quest rewards definitely need to be better. For a fully geared character the rewards are just boring and useless. Add furniture rewards or xp scrolls. Stuff that is useful or you might actually use.

Zos made clear the Crafting bag will never be sold for crowns. The crafting bag for ESO+ was a smart business decision and thread asking for it as this one is just reinforced how good of a decision to lock the bag behind a subscription really is.

Proximity voice chat, no way. What I have learned from playing games that had build in VoIP was people ramble nonsense and that experience was with VoIP that was limited to when you were grouped with them. Had to mute so many people because of their absurd and constant rambling. There is zero need for this on PC because we can join into Discord, TS and other VoIP servers when needed and desired.

I do not see monetization spamming. Just one thing once per day when I log in. Easy to look past.

Pretty sure AC is here to stay for a really long time as Zos has double-downed on it by adding skills that pretty much require AC of LAs and sets the encourage weaving LAs. Also, we have arena PvP but we call it BGs. idk, maybe you are not making yourself clear here.

Just my feedback on items I felt it worth commenting on. Have a good day.

There's a difference between "our game is so good people will buy subscriptions for it"
and "our game is so frustrating without subscription, people will buy subscriptions for it"
I wonder if you can spot the difference. i can.

Agreed, it's one of the cleverest "you don't need it to play, but you're going to want it anyway" features I've ever seen in a game - way better than locking skills/equipment (EVE Online) or levels (WoW) behind the paywall.

Crafting bag - Not arguing or agreeing. Just stating the simple fact that if you want the crafting bag you will have to subscribe for it. If you really find it as frustrating to play without a sub and refuse to subscribe to ESO+ the other option seems to be the clear route to take. Either way Zos is not changing it.

VoIP - I pretty much gave a solid example of the nuisance it is and have not seen it in a top-quality MMORPG. I am not worried though as I doubt Zos will consider adding VoIP to PC/Mac. They would have done it when they added it to consoles.

Monetization spamming - it happens once per day regardless of how many times you log in and out. If you did not log in yesterday you might see it twice since the "day" might start in the middle of your day. Hardly spamming. If you are seeing it every time you log in then something is wrong and you should open a ticket.

AC - I am fine with AC so yes I accept it. I am pleased it is blessed by Zos and here to stay though there are some minor tweaks I would make related to the LA weave itself. I find combat much more lively than in stiff and antiquated games such as SWTOR, WoW, and FF14.

    Cheers.

Idk if you missed it or something, but in a recent video discussing the upcoming blocking changes it looks like they're working to remove it as it isn't a "feature" it's a de-sync exploit, as they literally said.

And I agree, animations are there for a reason... Cancelling them seems just like such a stupid thing to vouch for. Like "ah yes, I don't want to see my ability fire off properly like it's supposed to."

Not sure I can get on board with this...

    Proximity chat is hell
Just my opinion... I get why you want it though and you make a valid point about immersion. My immersion is kind of ruined when I can hear a 12 year old practising his freestyle in the middle of mournhold.

In terms of AC what do you actually mean? this is a concept that is available with every action combat system.
The ability to block, dodge etc... when you need to. I personally love the fact I can react immediately to an impending attack and outside of that you are talking about cast times. I don't know if you watched the recent video Gilliam did on the new block system, but he states in that video that block cancelling only ever gave the illusion of a faster attack client side.

I would understand if you were saying weaving was an exploit as you are actually doing more than one attack a second.
The ability to cancel animations during a rotation is only really important in high end PVE i.e. trials. Even then the light attack weave is so much more important. In PvP doing either or not the difference is negligible. It is more about making as many attacks hit at once as possible through DOT's delayed burst (shalks for example) etc...

I have played a lot of MMO's and find this game to be one of the most playable without spending money. I did so for 6 months before I deciding that I was committed to this MMO over the rest. I also think a banner once a day(which also reminds you to collect your free log in gift) isn't really pushy.

I appreciate your thoughts though

They're not removing animation cancelling (even though it looks clunky af in pts to block- and barswap cancel), they're just moving the animation to the server side.

And to OP, animation cancelling isn't an issue, it's one of many reasons what makes the combat system of this game unique and enjoyable (at least for me and many others). It's 200% irrelevant if it originally in the development/beta was considered a bug. People have had 6 years to get used to and adapt to it. Animation cancelling isn't and exploit and if ZOS considered it to be one, there would've been actions taken long ago.

Yeah i get that absolutely, it's a bit of a balancing issue but the majority of the crowd in eso are adults therefore you won't run into a lot of 12 year olds practicing freestyles. It might actually turn out to be very fun considering the playerbase and it's love for roleplaying.
In terms of AC what do you actually mean? this is a concept that is available with every action combat system.

Yeah i ment the weaving to pull off multiple attacks in one second. I'm aiming on the abuse of the obvious exploit that we all know.

Your statements here are false, Animation canceling is an exploit and has been recognized as such by ZoS.
The fact that no action has been taking has been due to the inability to take action rather than a designer choice.
It also has been much easier for the devs to try and work their way into calling this a feature rather than an exploit.
Especially if having an exploit in an mmo for over 6 years is very bad for their trackrecord.

This is a point i'm going to add next time this thread gets reopened, i hate the fact that everyone can just see the name i use to log into my account. it's a breach of security if not completely unimmersive.
How come we have to pick a unique character name if nobody ever gets to see it except ourselfs? Why do i have to communicate with people ingame seeing their account names.
I hate the fact that people address me by my account name. it makes me feel unsafe unsecure and unimmersed.

I watched the video Gilliam made for ESO Live explaining the changes to blocking and it seems you have greatly misunderstood it.

First off he explains the current animation for blocking is showing on our screens before it is actually happening. So we think we are blocking before the server considers us blocking. It is why a block just before a sword hits us does not actually block the attack. Again, he specifically explains this.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/511531/how-the-new-block-is-system-going-to-work-explained-by-zos-gilliams-livestream-twitch-video-clip/p1

The video is in the first post of that thread. Shortly after the 2 minutes, mark Gilliam explains much of what animation canceling is merely a desync between the client and server. Gilliams specifically states the servers know when the damage is occurring and all we are doing is creating a desync between the client and server. In other words, they are not actually changing anything but bringing the animation in line with when it actually occurs. In other words, Animation canceling is not what many have thought it is.

TLDR; what we see when we are doing an attack and AC it with block on live is not how in line with what is actually happening. All these updates change is doing is bringing the client in line with the server which is the ultimate authority of what is actually happening.

Again, Zos' words (Gilliam). Not mine.

This is simply not true. Even instant cast spells have indeed a global cooldown (~0,9 sec if i remember correctly). Canceling animations don't allow you to just use multiple spells within one second.

Correct, but this is not really the exploitation issue i was talking about. My animation canceling issue comes from people fireing off multiple attacks where only one animation is supposed to be played. This is activated usually by weaving light attacks.
It's easy to derail into the blocking AC, but that's not really AC as the dev already mentioned. its a desync issue.

AC is an exploit, it's in this game and being abused heavily in pvp and high end pve.
Anyone who disagrees either participates in it or really doesn't know what hes talking about.

If you collect the daily reward on the first char you log in to, that window doesn't show up again for the day. Some days (usually Monday and Thursday), another window shows up at 16.00 CET when the crown stuff gets updated, this is the only other time I see that window. More than 2 windows in a day however never happens for me.

TLDR; what we see when we are doing an attack and AC it with block on live is not how in line with what is actually happening. All these updates change is doing is bringing the client in line with the server which is the ultimate authority of what is actually happening.

Again, Zos' words (Gilliam). Not mine.

What everyone is saying is animation cancelling doesn't come into multiple attacks firing at once.
You are refering to weaving when you can a light attack and immediately cast a skill.
You can make multiple skills land like this:

cast a DOT - Cast blast bones(for example)- light attack - spammable

You will then get hit by four sources of damage at once. this isn't an exploit this timing your attacks so they hit at the same time via delayed burst and weaving.

Try recording what happends on your screen when you do exactly this.
And please let me know what happends to your animations on your character while you are doing this?

And that comment was not in reply to anything you posted in this thread but to someone else who misunderstands what the change to block means, based on Zos dev who used to be a player expert.

However, to comment you did make. No character can fire multiple spells at once as you seem to indicate. It is impossible as the server would not permit it. Each spell is controlled by a 1 second GCD. That GCD is equivalent to a law of physics in the game.

Light attack weaving is something the devs want to stay in the game and specifically endorse in load screen Texts so hardly an exploit.

Right.. because all of the sudden AC no longer excists, and all the youtube clips explaining to newbies how to abuse this exploit are all of the sudden not existing.
I'm completely hallucinating all these things. right..

Im afraid you misunderstood. AC does exist as do the YouTube Clips you Mention. It just isnt an exploit.

Would you perhaps like to classify it as a bug that's being abused?
Or perhaps calling it a design flaw that players use to their advantage sounds more appealing?

Got added with the Wrathstone update (4.3.0) apparently:

Added a Loading Screen Tip: "Once you've begun a light attack, you can immediately activate an ability from your skill bar without interrupting that light attack."

So either ZOS is teaching us how to exploit, or they have fully embraced AC and it is here to stay :)

Apologies, but I don't understand the point your making...

You will see all of these animations bar the light attack which was interrupted by the skill.
The light attack making up potentially 2k damage of 20k combo. if you don't do the light attack you will still hit the enemy for 18K.

Do you believe the 2K damage is an exploit? It is fair enough if you do, I feel I would be more worried about the skills cast rather than the one light attack.
Besides isn't an exploit by definition using the mechanics to cheat? everyone has the ability to light attack, i tend to press it between every skill out of habit, normally to ensure my glyph is active.

I'm not trying to fight with you, but if you don't like the combat why do you play?
I love the combat and combat in a game is a complete deal breaker for me...

No I wouldnt. I would call it an interaction within the game which the devs explicitly want us to use. Thus it cannot be an exploit or an abused bug, because for either to be the case it has to be something that is unintended by the devs.

What is an exploit? - by floyd stash
There are games, in games there are bugs. Bugs are unintentional side-effects of a program.
Animation canceling is a bug. players utilize this bug to gain an advantage over another player.
This is how the concept of an Exploit is born. So an exploit is nothing more than an advantage gained by abusing an unintentional broken design.

    Why i play?
Because i love elder scrolls franchise. I hate the combat of this particular game.
And even thou you can't imagine why a player like me would go through this white knight trolly hell to prove a point,
I can tell you.. i do it from a position of love and desperation of having to deal with this particular publisher trying to take over a franchise of another company... and doing a bad job at it if you ask me.

Aside from the countless ignorant lore breaking stories, the combat is just absolutely terrible in my eyes.

(also .. i've quit this game for years, only recently came back to replay through story to keep myself up to date. im not enjoying the combat or challanges set by the devs at all. hope that answers your question.)
