PVP: What class would you choose to play if there were no such thing as a "meta"?

Imagine for a minute that all of the classes were on equal footing and there was no clear "meta class" for any particular application. All of them are equally viable in solo, small group, and large group PVP in their own unique way & they are all suitable for any role — the only differentiating factor is the class identity & playstyle. (Or as ZOS puts it: "Power Fantasy" & "Play Patterns.")

Which one would you choose, and why? (The poll wouldn't allow for more than 10 choices, so please specify magicka or stamina in your comment.)

Note: I've posted a PVE poll as well, since the answers may be different based on PVP/PVE, and some people only play PVE.

For everyone saying "I don't care about the meta," you've missed the point of the poll. I don't care about it either, but some (many?) people do. I simply wanted to know what classes everyone would play if class strength in PVP was not a consideration at all, so I asked for everyone to imagine that it was not. If you don't care about the meta, that's great — then you don't have to imagine anything.

Stamina DK for dragon leap alone, being able to fly across the map and slam someone with all 200% of your players body mass as your hardest hitting attack thats only 100 ulti is probably the most satisfying thing ever to grace this game. That level of mobility pared with power and survivability from passives is just straight-up fun!

Se my answer for the pve poll. Though in this case my necro is meant to be my dedicated pvp character once she's fully leveled and decently kitted out, until I'm going to run with my main sorc. I got a templar healer that I briefly considered repurposing for pvp, but I hate how the class plays. So necro it is.

And as stated previously I don't give a hoot what the meta is. I doubt I ever will.

I precisely like to play with the "weaker" classes. I like it when i can make something "not meta" work.
Right now i'm pvping as magblade, magden, magcro and magDK.

The last years I got into healing(PvE) and transfered my "knowledge" to PvP.😂

I play a Warden Healer with an organized Group at the moment, and I really enjoy it. The Skills are interesting, it's tanky, the Design is pretty and Wardens are generally fun IMO.🥰

I've always played khajiit sorc. I liked the abilities and the theme more. I already don't care about the meta, I try things myself to get the best results with what I have.

In PvP I have a lot of fun, and great results, with an off meta build. I've tried a lot of different setups over the years. I settled for a balanced Bow/Bow build. Balanced as in : Survivability, Sustain and Damage are all important. It's not a ganking build. It works great with the sorcerer kit.

I love my character. And when I play something else it's just for the free transmutation crystals. I wouldn't change for any reason.

Still looking for the day that frost warden is a legit thing in solo. But a few things need to change first. Glacial Presence is just the beginning.

Frost Wall and Winter's Revenge are keep/bgs tools. I'm looking for proper burst combos and a fun frost skill with an offensive stun attached to it.

I don’t think there is a meta class in PvP and the game is all the better for it.

To me the biggest difference at the low end is simply experience, a more experienced player with any PvP build will usually defeat a less experienced player. Fights will be short. Having a ‘meta’ build might keep you alive a second longer, but not having the awareness or ability to react will kill you rapidly.

At the top end it seems to be more about player ability, if you can block, dodge or counter your opponent’s burst damage, then apply yours, you’ll be very hard to beat. And, again this seems to be independent of actual class. The ‘meta’ seems to be play the class/style you feel most comfortable with and know best.

There are 2 things i love. Healing, and being invisible stabbing everyone in the ***. Sadly these are 2 different classes for best use. Nightblade is pretty much the only class with effective invisibility, and Templar is far the best healer as far as i know. Could be changed with new classes, but from the default 4 it was sure the best.

Even worse there are 2 different builds. But for PVP it would be still Templar i think.

I am pretty sure there is no meta in terms of classes in pvp right now. If you are in a group you may just have harmonizing classes, like one templar for minor sorcery and heals, one sorcerer for major berserk, prophecy, one warden for extra health and minor protection, dragonknight for minor brutality and shields, etc.

Templar has been my sort of 'main' since launch. My magplar is the guy that I do all my questing on, have done the most of pvp on, use in trials for dps, etc. And this has been regardless of how they were in the 'meta' throughout the years.

Although I do use my DK as a tank more than any other class and my templar tank gets used least of any of my tanks. So that's been disappointing. I also tend to use a lot of classes in pvp, so all my experience there isn't focused on one character. (Though being a couple levels short of legate black on my templar makes that fact sore sometimes).

Also want to add, probably magsorc is my least favorite class to PvE with. He's fun in PvP. And Stam sorc is fun. But magicka sorc play in PvE just feels so... 'meh' to me. Definitely the most boring, maybe lack of a class spammable adds to that feeling. For some reason on stam builds I'm ok with weapon skills as my spammable, but on magicka builds, its nice having Jabs, Funnel, Skull, Whip, Bird, but nothing for the old sorc.

I have one main that i've played since 2015: Mag sorc. I have one alt that i leveled and barely played...also sorc! I was a fire mage in WoW for years. Stam may rule ESO these days but I choose what I enjoy and stick with it even if they nerf us sorcs inevitably into the ground.

I put dragonknight because I have actually started playing on PC now. And since I have no dedication to a character it allows me to play whatever I want. So I picked a magdk because I like the way the class plays.
