Lootable nodes in houses

Anyone ever ask for this? All the things you put in your house are just cosmetic besides the stations. I think it would be so cool if the barrels in your house could actually be looted for flour or whatever, maybe put a fishing node in a lake or some alchemy nodes in a little garden. As long as they limited the number of nodes you could have (account wide not just in one house), this doesn't seem like it would have that much abuse potential and would make the homes feel much more alive.

I really like the idea of a garden that grows alchemy reagents. I think it would be a fun way for people to grow their own mats. Obviously it would need to be a low amount per week so as not to affect the market too much but it's still a nice idea

Its a good idea only if the node can be harvested once every 12 or so hours kind of like how the hirelings work, otherwise I can see this being exploited regardless. I can already imagine people placing barrels and other things down to farm ingredients like decorative wax cause I know I would.

    Overlands already full of them.

running bot inside house would not be very efficient, unless it had fast respawns (which would totally break game and economy)

Hirelings that don't suck up mail space or require visits to DLC NPC's? Blasphemy.

I know plenty of people that would just enjoy the gardening 'mini-game' as a way to disconnect from the grind.

I would love to have a fishing spot and some garden spots, for the immersion, but I do see how there could be issues with that. Vevvev, you might be on to something with the idea of tying it to the hireling timing. Maybe... you could use a skill point to unlock an option to morph the hireling into a house node?

Seriously I'd love having alchemy stuff on my garden *-*

Yup, this is something that should be added. When harvesting nodes in the game, you have a chance of getting a furnishing item that lets you place that node in your home. Can be harvested once every 20 hours. I also wouldn't mind it if they were just static and not interactable.

Yeah I love the idea of being able to create a garden, it would make me interested in housing.

I agree this would be a nice addition. If nothing else it would give me an incentive to visit the house I spent so much time decorating now it's "finished" (except for 200 books on the floor instead of on shelves...although I'm tempted to claim that's realistic and call it done).

Of course they should be limited so you can't just constantly farm your own private instance. In other games I've played with systems like this it's usually time-gated. Sometimes a simple 'once per day' and sometimes with different timers depending on what it is - for example rarer materials might take longer to grow than common ones.

My one ask is if it is once per day I'd really like it to follow the daily reset rather than something like a 20 hour timer from last time you harvested it. If you're not the kind of person who is able to log in at the same time every day, both during the week and at the weekend, that gets to be far too complicated to follow and I end up missing far more days than if it was a fixed reset time because I log in "too early" one day and then can't get back online when I am allowed my "daily" harvesting. With a fixed reset time I barely need to think about it, I can do it once in each 24 hour period, whenever it's convenient.

It's a great idea. Housing community has been asking for something like this for a while now, but nothing so far. Looking forward to this year's housing QoL additions.

Completely agree with everyone. Would love it if you could get a patch out back of the house to grow veggies or fruit for provisioning and/or the greenhouse from Skyrim Homestead where you could grow alchemy mats. Would look cool and serve a purpose

SWToR did it. Of course, they also made them very limited to keep things from being abused.

Don't worry, after they effectively release Skyrim, the next best thing is going to be redoing Hearthfire in eso 🤣😂🤣

I figured as much but haven't been enough part of the housing community so wasn't sure.

The strategy for eso has always been to try and get people to buy the same thing 180 times in slightly different skins rather than selling actual upgrades or improvements. I love the universe and game but that's my main gripe overall.

agree, that would be a good solution that can't be exploited.

i'd absolutely love to grow herbs and fungi in my garden  the textures and assets are already in the game, so why not? :)

It always kills me a little inside to see barrels and crates and sacks and stuff in a house that can't be looted.

It'd be neat to have lootable furnishings, and to help make it less exploitable, maybe you can only loot things from other peoples' houses rather than your own on top of a timer of some kind? That would also encourage people to visit their friends' and guildies' houses, get out and see stuff and maybe be inspired for their own places.

Agree, it would work a bit like an login reward.
Remember making an farming mod in Skyrim there you used an farming hoe to make soil to plant plants for harvesting.
    Easy to go overboard on.
But the option to plant eggs to get an nest who not only spawned eggs but also chickens if not harvested was fun :)
Nests are technically plants in Skyrim as they work the same way.

WOW did that in their version of housing, and they found out that players never left their garrisons. For some reason, that really bothered them. I enjoyed it though. You could farm mats and craft in the comfort of your own home.
