I have all gold v.o. paired with all gold briar heart so I ended up getting lokke all gold and replacing briar heart with that. I was all excited bc I am a stamcro and I use avid boneyard and it works like a charm to proc the 15% damage bonus and I even have more weapon damage... Butttt I went for a test run and the lokke wasn't doing alot of damage even when I activated the synergy. It's actually about a quarter less than what briarheart puts out for some reason. Am I tripping bc last time I checked lokke is supposed the ***. Please some one give me a run down and tell the reason thanks

Did you happen to re set cp for the change in stats the 2 sets give/gave and where was you testing as new sets 3rd bonus only applies in dungeons and trials

I personally run Lokke and Spriggans, penetration is one the best way to increase dmg as long as you dont go over the cap. As a stamcro you get a lot of crit in execute range so extra crit bonuses have some deminishing returns.

In most situation the tank doesnt have Alkosh (5 stacks = 3010 pen), so the average pen value:

base: 100
major fracture: 5280
minor fracture: 1320
infused crusher enchant: 2108
Spriggans: 3450
1H sharpened: 1376
2H sharpened: 2752
*Kra'gh: 1487

Dungeon bosses have 18.2k resist which leaves 4566 armor with DW and 3180 armor for 2H setup (*without using Kra'gh).

The variable factors are the monster set that you use, with Kra'gh you get an additional 1487 pen.
And the amount of CP into Piecing depending on your weapon and monster set choice.
If the tank does run Alkosh you could swap the monster set if you run Kra'gh or 2H sharpened weapon to 2H nirn for example.

IMPORTANT: Before you spend gold, transmute stones and other expensive mats I would check out the Aegis Caller set thats coming in the Harrowstorm DLC. Single target its almost as strong as Relequen and doesnt require you to build up stacks before getting the benefit. For AoE is easily outperforms Relequen which makes it very strong in most situations.

Besides that, there's a change coming to the Molag Kena 2pc bonus, currently it increases cost by 20% during the proc but that might be changed to only 5%. The proc gives 516 weapon dmg which is really insane for just a 2pc bonus. The 5% cost reduction change would make it perfect alongside VO because you already get cost reduction and sustain from the 5pc bonus.

as for me when doing around 60k dps with VO and other my set...when I replace VO by lokke by dps i raised by around 5k with close to full uptime of lokke buff

how is AY btw? i had jewels and weapons all purple and played like that a bit. Then tried to gold weaps with 6 tempers (75 chance) and failed lol. should i try ay axe again or continue with rele/lokke?

with all this lag, using rele is torture

If you have regular Lokke self buffed with your own synergy, and it's paired with Vicious Ophedian on a stamina necromancer, here is what you are actually getting with Lokke:

2 PC bonus: 129 weapon damage
3 PC bonus: nothing since VO already has Minor Slayer
4 PC bonus: 129 weapon damage
5pc bonus: 66% uptime of Major Slayer, unless you can get access a second synergy and keep it up longer

66% uptime of Major Slayer on a Necro isn't as strong as it would be for every other class, they already have a 15% damage buff for damage over time. All the multiplier buffs are additive to each other before they are multiplied to the damage, so

8% Minor Berserk
13% Mighty
20% Thaumaturge or Master at Arms
5% Minor Slayer
15% Necromancer buff for DOT damage

are all additive.

Major Slayer's 15% buff gets divided by (1+.08+.13+.2+.05+.15) when it comes to DOT damage, so it's closer to a 9.3% buff for DOTs. And 10.2% for direct damage.

If it's only up 2/3 of the time, it's closer to a 6.5% damage buff. With normal Lokkestiiz you're only adding two damage stat buffs to that buff, so it's entirely possible that Briarheart could feel stronger by comparison. 450 weapon damage is like 9.5% damage buff on some builds. The two crit buffs with Briarheart easily rival weapon damage buffs if you have the Shadow Mundus & minor force, and you get some extra stamina.

Forgot to offer a suggestion for the title question.

I think VO is best suited for a mob-heavy environment. When you're fighting large hordes in a dungeon or trial and want to spam an expensive AOE skill.

Twice fang is pretty good at killing large groups, but you'll likely overpenetrate on bosses if the tank and healer keep up debuffs.

Alternatively you can cast caltrops on the ground and go with Azureblight Reaper. Caltrops + arrow barrage + soul splitting trap or some other AOE dot means every mob in a large group will be deleted in 7-8 seconds by the Azureblight proc.

New Moon Acolyte pairs very well with it for raw damage.

If you're not taking the time to set barbed trap on the ground could go with Tzogvin.

I pair with Twice-Fanged Serpent (Spriggen's is very, very close DPS-wise too), but something like Advancing Yokeda or even Hunding's Rage would work well if you're in a group that's gonna push the pen cap even without TFS. I also use Deadly Strike when I play on my stamplar.

VO is a sustain set more so than a damage set, so the Minor Slayer buff overlap with Lokke isn't ignorable like it is when you pair Lokke with Relequen.

Funny you said new moon acolyte bc that's the set I just bought full 10 items of and folded everything except the damn amulet and one ring. Yes I run channeled acceleration bc I love bobbing and weaving with all the speed boosts I get and I just think barbed trap is aggravating. I would much rather lose the x amount dps to be 20x more agile and mobile bc at the end a dead Necro ain't doing ***. And briarheart puts my crits so often (all bs aside) I literally crit at least 10 to 15 times before I ever see a white number. Lethal arrow literally hits from 21k to 40k and it is amazing to use. Also I crit alot more I have come to see when my detonating syphon is up. It's pretty cool to see the difference

And also the best burst damage I've ever encountered when you have the rotation down. Btw it's a bow bow build and I know it's not meta beta zeta whatever it definitely gets the job done and at a far away distance and the funnest character I've ever played

This, VO is amazing overland, an shame they both nerfed it and rapids as it was so fun going Sonic in public dungeons and delves. Bad on fights there you have to burn an boss with few adds however.

Both of those sets are worth collecting. In the meantime I’d suggest dummy testing with what you to see what hits hardest.

Regarding slayer sets (you usually want exactly one or Rele+Lokk). Pairing Lokk and VO generally is not done especially solo.

Relequen: best if encounter is ST and permits holding stacks

Lokk generally best if you get synergies

VO best if you need sustain and many things are dying (eg arenas)

War machine: not useful for necro

Alkosh: trial situational when tank can’t/doesn’t wear it

Briarheaet, Hundings, AY, leviathan, NMA, warband, deadly, TFS, Azure, Auto etc all work with any slayer set. The “best” is situational and class conditional. You can use Briarheaet in all cases and do just fine. If you’re parsing less than 70k on stamcro I wouldn’t worry about sets beyond getting the 3 main slayer sets and using briarheart.

I'm a DK stam build, and I run relequen armor, velidreth ms, deadly strike dagger/axe with neck/rings, and master bow. Everything is gold and I'm doing high damage. VO is a nice sustain set, but not so much for the higher dam. I also have AY daggers and the gold rings/necklace, but I find the deadly strike out dose the AY, but that's just me.

I run a Stamsorc with VO, Sprig and Master Bow. Im still using Stormfist but I see Selene used frequently.
