If you're just going to PvP, might as well just start a new account.

    To answer your question.

    ZOS doesn't do transfers. Period.

I am not sure why you think you are the individual that will set a new precedent.

Now you can change the PSN ID it was the only one reason to block the transfers. ZOS can make a lot of money not just for me...

That's always been possible on Xbox and no transfers from there either.

    It isn't going to happen.

for 5000 € you can buy bazillion of ingame gold. Then you can buy anything you want. Materials, houses, motifs, pay runs. Whatever. You still need to level your characters though.

No it's not. It's not just the account name, it's also all the character names

The only reason they did transfers from PC to console in the first place was because the console databases were empty so no possibility for errors.

If they miss one little thing trying g to copy back, the whole game could crash and trying to hunt through 10s of 1000s of lines in the database tables for one or multiple problems would take weeks if not months.

They are not going to risk that.

I suspect it'll happen in say... Three or four years when the PS4 servers are shut down (wild guess). Unless they transfer to a PS5 client...

I'm sure they could do it.

They would have to transfer those setting into a new fresh character. So it's more like making a clone manually (automatically with software in place which they would have to develop).

I think, as someone previously stated above, that cross-platform transfers would be a risky move for ZOS. They not only have to copy your character (and name and race and gender and class), they would have to port things like the exact CP you have or how many skillpoints you have gathered. They would have to port all of you items - in the exact quantity you had - and all of the things that are tied to your character or account. Plus they would have to port your progression in each quest, etc.
It would be nice to have ports, but it's not cost effective for them (in my opinion).

I thought ZOS done a transfer from PC to Console when ESO was launched to console. So a precedent was set i believe )

The PC to console transfer was AFAIK basically a bulk copy of the database from pc, followed by removing of the non transferred characters and linked data. Their article on this indicates that this process cannot be extended to the current databases.

ESO will have the same servers for next gen consoles. You'll just download the game to new console and log in.

While your statement is true, the duplicate data would more than likely not even be inserted (granted they have the DB constraints set up as they should) in the first place. The end result would be the same though: failure to transfer.

Even programs that Red-Gate offers for SQL Data Compare would still have issues with this data transfer. There would have to be a process where they identified the item you had on server X and then re-created it on server Y in order to avoid data constraints... which would be lengthy and prone to error.

I feel like every week this type of thread gets started again. You're better off just starting a new account on PC than you are waiting for this functionality to be developed.

I seriously doubt Zos would add any option or feature to the game that cost 5k as it would greatly limit the number of players that would be able to afford it.

I doubt revenue is the driving factor behind the reasons Zos will not transfer accounts. There is likely something in an agreement with one of the consoles that prevents it, or something else.

Character names can be changed, its an in game service.

The problem is that an account in ESO is a lot of database tables, its the account, with its set of tables of unlocked or bought stuff. Houses with their furniture and bank and crafting bag. Then you have characters with all theirs stats, inventory achievements, quest logs and so on.
You would need some transfer software for this, copy all the above details to other server, then have player log on to other platform, change used names and press commit.
I estimate 1-2 months of an coders time might be higher if system is more complex than I imagine and user interface might also be an additional issue.
    Also testing this.
Note that games with lots of servers like WOW knew they had to have an system for server transfer.
ESO did not, and with the PS5 generation consoles coming its less relevant.

I have done an case study of an web application I created who tend to be run on clients intranet but most try it on our test server, now move the account over to the customers database server, Its not something I will bother with unless an customer pay for it and its way simpler than ESO.
Now I think it should be an service I don't expect it to become one soon.

That's the reason. The PC to Console transfers were possible cause the Console databases were completely clean. They can't do that again to a database that's had data on it for some time now. I have no idea why you think it's possible just cause you can change your PS4 version of a Gamertag.

This, graphic settings will be upgraded.
I expect this to work so transparent you could put your PS4 in your cottage and play ESO on it during vacations.
Remember playing ESO on an crappy laptop an short time after launch, I expected to just be able to log on to research crafting but was able to do some quests. No I would not do an group dungeon on that thing
In an couple of years PS4 and Xbox2? support will be removed.
Yes its a bit early but is far more likely they cut off rater than making Cyrodil and Trials off limit.

While I have no doubt the technical problems are a factor, I've always believed that a bigger factor is the contract between ZOS and the other platform providers (as well as Steam on PC). It's highly unlikely that ZOS are legally able to poach paying customers from those providers.
