Shouldn't these buffs help with the self inflicted damage that Offering does?

Minor/Major Protection
Reduces your damage taken by 8%/15%

Example:
Offering self ticks for 428/second
Slot Temporal Guard and it still ticks for 428/second
Slot Bolstering Darkness and it still ticks for 428/second

It's always been the case, healthy offering is oblivion damage and can't be mitigated in any way.

The only way to reduce the self dot is to tank your mag and spell damage (the self dot scales with those two stats) and pump up your healing % done and crit, since those two don't effect the dot strength.

It's probably the same as Balance on a tank. They have all of the mitigation in the world and it still does about the same damage regardless. I feel like it wouldn't apply, because while it's technically damage taken, it's caused by yourself.

Yea, basicly. They thought ahead and made it so you can’t get a back door benefit in any way. It also doesn’t proc any damage taken sets like Bloodspawn, nord, desert rose, etc... I tried possible way to cheese it, but no luck, they were thorough.

Ritual mundus and a high crit build is as good as it gets.

Feels like this should be looked into.

Offering has always been oblivion damage and thus not effected by mitigation factors. Even its first version when it was an up front burst damage on your health pool for what was at the time the single most strongest hot in the game.
