Who cares what anyone says in a forum post? So yeah ignore it. Are they going to climb into their computer and portal to yours and climb out and punch you? Most of these people are just keyboard warriors.

Obv. youve never dealt with targeted harassment.

Never once have I ever seen a system where once you blocked someone they couldn’t see what you wrote/posted in any game or forum.

Now, I grew up old school and have never had the need or want to block anyone, because imo lol.

But I’ve never seen this to be the case. I’ve seen people who blocked people still be able to read that persons posts if they are quoted by another though.

I agree with most op, if you genuinely feel you are being harassed then report the person.

In this day and age Zos will HAVE TO do something because it’s the age of snowflakes and god forbid one melts.

    Swtor. End.

Facebook will not let you see the comments of someone who blocked you. Conversations will make no sense due to invisible comments. Makes sense there though since people have their real identities.

I'm not sure if this is an applicable concept; but sometimes the answer to these sort of problems is just:

    3opnag.jpg

Seems to work for me, have never blocked a soul in ESO or the forums.

Unfortunately, you'll NEVER stop people from being rude, trolls, or so forth; it's just a part of life we all have to deal with. That isn't condoning the behavior, but it's merely the reality of the situation.

There is a difference between being rude and harassment.

Then /ignore their friends? It’s not hard. There’s not 50+ people messaging you.

Just continue talking in chat (without insulting or baiting them). They’ll keep trying to message you, and then just keep ignoring them. Maybe even turn of whispers for awhile.

I 98% guarantee you that they’ll stop. If they start again tomorrow and the day after that, report them.

Eventually, they’ll calm down or move on to whatever they were doing before.

All I am gathering at this point is that many people seem to have never been harassed and think people who have should just ignore it and leave it be. Which is sad.

Well, the short difference I can say, and not to be rude doing so:

Report Harassment if you feel that is the case and let ZOS deal with it. Starting forum threads, or threads anywhere else doesn't especially raise awareness to the fact that people can be... 'Fetchers' and more than likely, you're not changing opinions or the stance of anyone on the issue.

It's fair to say there's dozens, or perhaps hundreds of threads like this or of similar intent. If you REALLY feel like you're being harassed by strangers over the internet, well. I don't know what you want anyone to do. While I agree in theory that you shouldnt be matched with people you ignore, there's a thousand ways to solve the problem without crying foul.

Join a guild, or make friends, socialize, introduce friends from IRL or other games to play, I have extreme difficulty running into the same players in PVE content whatsoever. In PVP, rarely; moreso if they're a premade group in BGS, or under 50.

In my opinion, this just seems like another "Expand the block feature" posts that never gains traction simply because of the million manners to circumvent dealing with other players. Maybe I'm not seeing your point otherwise, but that's all I'm getting right now.

It's actually the best solution. It works 100% of the time. Unless that person escalates the harassment to your real life. But just for the internet, as soon as I stop taking any notice of them and not caring about them one way or another, the problem is gone.

Getting angry and making threads like this probably just make your tormentor happy.

Bringing attention to harassment is what needs to be done, ignoring it and saying whatever is not because it will effect someone else eventually or often.

Why? It seems more like bringing attention to harassment instead just brings more harrassment

You can be grouped with people on your Ignore list, but as of 5.2.5 (Dragonhold), you should not see what they are saying in group chat. If you can, please report it as a bug. You ignored them for a reason; group chat should not be an exception, according to ZOS.

Ill do that, because in cyro you tend to get the same groups over and over when you join random ones, guilds arent always doing runs, and at times i dont really feel like leading, and then you get into one where a group of them are and oh boy, prepare for cringe.

no offense OP but you coming on forums and make a fuss about it...well u just put a red target on u for the forum trolls and harassers...sooo yeah at this point u just need to learn to let it go...Remember what Olms always said: There is no Justice here.

The OPr has been on here since dec 2019 and less than 2 months he managed to make almost 1K comments by december 2020 he will have 10k comments.
All he does is complain about sorcerer and thinks every comment he reads are insults. No wonder why so many forum users have him blocked.

First off its she, seriously just digging the hole deeper and deeper.

Every time i see you on the forum youre complaining, and or youre looking to feel offended. You made one thousand comments in less than 8 weeks! Get off the forum and play your video games.

    Delparis is that you?

There tends to be lots of loading screens in cyro. Lets also do some math here.

Beginning december I joined, I post about, 15 posts a day, now what is 15x70 days. Ill wait.

And I thought you had me blocked? =D. And yeah, more victim blaming. Classy. You also seem to have a strange obsession with me hounding -every- post I make, and passive aggressively attacking me, which also is harassment.

You're not the victim if you're antagonizing people

If they are truly harassing you then report them to Zos. Provide SS and whatever else you have to support the claim. Zos is going to kick them where it hurts.

If it was two people who kept on replying to each other with rhetoric and ratcheting up the heat to the point one could not longer handle it then Zos will probably let them duke it out. I doubt Zos will make it so when we put someone on ignore they will never see what we type as that is pretty much not common in MMORPGs that I have seen, though I will admit I rarely have needed to use the ignore feature in an MMORPG.

HM, then it probably was because they couldn't see your actual account name, only your character name.imo that just rewards people who do the harassing by allowing them to continue harassing others in the future.

how about real life ignore treatment?

Are you really telling someone who is being harassed to " just ignore it "? Thats a non solution.

So dont do anything because the harassers do more harassing? O.o

It's called the Streisand effect and yes basically, you ignore them.

You dont ask bullies to stop bullying you because if they know it gets to you they're going to do it more. The same logic applies to this

Clearly you were never bullied. Ignoring them usually doesn't work. However in this situation I am doing that now, the mods have enough work tomorrow.

Clearly I was, just not for long because I know how to deal with them.

Oh so do I, but it wasn't by ignoring them.

This is probably the only game I have ever seen that when you block someone, even on the forums too, they still see what you write, and so they can just have their friends copy and paste insults and send them to you, and then when your block list is full you are SoL, why can it not be like every other game where if you block someone they cant see what you say, and vice versa?

I'm not sure if this is an applicable concept; but sometimes the answer to these sort of problems is just:

    3opnag.jpg

Seems to work for me, have never blocked a soul in ESO or the forums.

Unfortunately, you'll NEVER stop people from being rude, trolls, or so forth; it's just a part of life we all have to deal with. That isn't condoning the behavior, but it's merely the reality of the situation.

There is a difference between being rude and harassment.

Only other mmo I played was swtor and in the you block someone, they can't see anything you say. Prevented a lot of trolling cuz eventually they could t talk or play with anyone

I can say with 100% confidence you are incorrect. I have played SWTOR and after a long update tonight I tested this. I setup with a total stranger what I was testing and they were able to see what I typed in general chat even though I had them on ignore. Obviously I took them off ignore and confirmed they saw what I typed.

What SWTOR ignore list does is they cannot sent letters or DM anyone that has them on ignore. You will not be placed into a FP with anyone on your ignore list but that does not apply to WZs. You can be invited into a group that has someone on your ignore list and visa versa. While they will see what you type I do know you do not see what they type. That makes sense because it is called an ignore list, not block list.

So it still goes back to if they are truly harassing you report them to Zos. If someone says something stupid of clearly intended to aggravate do not even reply as things often escalate from there. PvP hate whispers after killing someone is a prime example. If they are not fed they move on.

While there are times when one can ignore someone physically and not let it bother you, the system at it's core isn't the most efficient. When I found out that I could STILL BE GROUPED with someone I've ignored (back with Morrowind's release), I stopped doing a lot of group finder content because of it. I'm not sure if this is still the case and I really hope that this isn't still the case.

This is exactly the case still. Ive gotten in groups with them , been stuck in bgs with them over and over, etc.

You can be grouped with people on your Ignore list, but as of 5.2.5 (Dragonhold), you should not see what they are saying in group chat. If you can, please report it as a bug. You ignored them for a reason; group chat should not be an exception, according to ZOS.

For me, it's not a matter of what they can or can't see in group chat. For some of us it's a matter of being stalked in-game which is something that's hard to prove along with their intent TO stalk. I've had to go through a few name/race changes on all of my characters, either stop wearing guild tabbards or just drop them outright when they join, and change my @ name just so I could do overworld content again. Reporting didn't get me anywhere, so that's why I just run with guildies who've already blacklisted them.

Not only this, but you still get grouped with them in ques. My girlfriend and I blocked quite a number of really nasty folks when we ran veteran dlc dungeons some time ago. Some time later we saw them again and were really confused. We double checked our lists and found them in there. Not only were we grouped with them again, but they could see our group chat and we could see theirs. Not much of a block player list. We submitted tickets and we never really heard anything back from CS.
