I'm literally sitting on millions of gold here and would love something crazy to spend it on.

Imagine if old places like Earth-tear Cavern or Grand Topal hide-away was offered for 7 or 10 million gold. You'd get billions out of the economy in a day.

    That's a good idea.

Thing is if that was the case people wouldn't even buy them with crowns just play the waiting game and ZoS would get nothing...

They could make it rare enough, like 1 house a year. I don't think it would cut into profits and would definitely give moneybags like myself something to look forward to.

I mean they release new houses every few months anyway, so the crown only ones would still be there. And you'd still be able to buy the older ones with crowns too, so Its not like people wouldn't.

Agreed. ZOS would rather have a revenue stream from houses than use them as a way to get gold out of the economy. Who would pay 15k crowns for a house if they could buy it with gold, even 7-10m in a year or so? Not to mention all the players who would justifiably be upset at having paid 15k crowns only for ZOS to now introduce a way to buy those same houses with gold.

The gold is already out of the economy if it's sitting in your bank with nothing to spend it on.

That's what I don't get about trading in this game. Players are keen to belong to multiple trading guilds and farm stuff to sell, at prices that are inevitably inflated by the restricted supply of trading spots, but why? There's nothing to use it for beyond bragging rights.

I can see the advantage of the proposal to a small number of players, but I don't see any advantage to ZOS.

We don't know the overlap between those willing to spend $130 real dollars on a house and those willing to wait 2 years and pay 10 M gold for it. There may not be anyone that is in both of those groups.

Will people be upset? Yeah probably, but there were people upset when Morrowind switched to Crowns only, and those who were upset that a $40 mount got included in crown crates. There's a gold cost / wait time that would make the least amount of people unhappy and most amount of people happy.

In a MMO you have to make those kinds of sacrifices from time to time.

You don't see an advantage in giving end game player something to spend money on? Something that no one is spending money on at the moment? I think it would give players something awesome to work towards which would get players excited about the game and bring in long time players again.

I spend my gold on stuff that is gifted to me from the crown store. I have spent c. 8m gold on the pc eu server, and just over 2m on the n.a. server. I am now saving it for when some zone dlc's go on sale.

I doubt it; if people are willing to wait two-three years for a crown only home to go for gold they were never going to buy it for crowns anyway. I know if I saw a house I wanted I would definitely not wait 2-3 years for it to finally be available for gold... Most of the housing community would I think agree with that sentiment.

But I'm also more a fan of just having them stabilize their insane prices to better fit an actual "microtransaction" model rather than the whale hunting they currently thrive off of. There are plenty of us with disposable income of 15-30$ a month we could throw at a game and the problem with the current Crown Store layout is that 15-30$ is a single item/furniture/small house/furniture pack in most cases. The crowns themselves are worth more in gold than they are in the Crown Store and that's rather sad.

Oh no there's plenty of people with ichy creditcard fingers and it shows why we have so much high price crap

i'd have nothing against them allowing Old Houses to be Purchasable again but only during the correct event that'll match the house. Murkmire event = Murkmire House and so on.

You best bet will be to trade your gold for crowns and buy them that way. ZOS is never going to allow you to buy them in-game for gold otherwise they’d never sell any for crowns.

In this situation, ZOS is really only interested in selling crowns. They’re not that bothered what you spend them on or, indeed, if you even spend them once you’ve bought them.

Sure, why not? Like chapters, after 1 year change it into a giftable DLC.
So maybe after 1 year, change housing to be giftable or purchasable with gold.
Some housing does contain strangely exclusive furnishings (Imperial stuff in Wraithhome, IIRC) so maybe they might have to release those Unfurnished. But I think those are only rare cases anyway.

I wouldn't mind being able to trade someone for them either.. But at the current exchange rate 13k crowns is only 2 or 3 million gold.. seems kind of cheap.

The only problem is houses can not be gifted so trading crowns for gold won't work
