Anyone actually planning to farm the Mother Ciannait monster set?

Just wondering out loud, since the announced nerfs to Iceheart, that are to bring it into the same "standard" as the new Mother Ciannait set.

(1 item) Adds 1096 Maximum Magicka
(2 items) While in combat, casting an ability with a cast time or channeling an ability grants you a damage shield that absorbs 3000 damage for 10 seconds. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds. (shields going to be 5000 now)

To me personally I see no reason to farm this new set at all and with the changes being proposed to Iceheart, that set will just end up in storage now at least that is how I feel.

What do I hope to accomplish with this poll? Either to get the nerfs to Iceheart to be reconsidered or to get this new monster set reworked before it goes live to something I would actually feel like putting in the effort to go and farm for.

This is the first dungeon dlc I won’t be purchasing either with my own money or someone else’s.

From the continuing unethical business practices, to the lack of any real vertical progression, to a lack of engaging quest content, to the lack of competency in the combat team, and the complete lack of care the company has for its playerbase.

no. I invested more than 3 mio in iceheart (8 toons). I'm fed up.

If I can't play content with it any longer, I will not play it.

From a chapter announcement which brings less hype and no combat-impacting additions (new class, combat skill lines) compared to any previous chapter.... to now a dungeon DLC that players are being given reasons to dislike due to poor balancing decisions.

I hope 2020 turns out to be a good year for ESO. Not too hopeful atm though.

They thought nerfing Iceheart and buffing Mother would mean both sets would be good for defense... nope... both trash. I won't even run the dungeons once I do the story for them.

I'm at the point now that I will not engage in anything related to the game that creates a situation where I must pay real world money to get better gear. I certainly am not going to subscribe or pay for a DLC to get gear that other gear has been nerfed to make it enticing. That seems like manipulation to me and I don't like the feeling at all.

This is a real problem with MMOs. It seems the industry doesn't understand that when you suck all the entertainment dollars out of a players pocket, that they will stop playing because at that point, the game has become far too expensive. How many times have you invested a lot of money in a game only to feel bad for doing so?

I can understand selling fashion, after all that is the real end game for a lot of MMOs. I can understand selling houses. I do not like the fact that MMOs try to monetize to the point that it negatively affects the game mechanics, the gear you might use, the viability of a character you have invested a lot of time in. This last nerf, even though I don't use the gear being complained about, has made me realize how negatively over monetization of a game can affect game play.

Essentially it's like this. ZoS wants to sell more DLC, so in that DLC they create a new monster set. But that monster set is not as good as one that already exists, so they nerf the other set to make it less attractive, really ruining it, this makes the new set only available if you subscribe or own the DLC, more attractive. So if you want to have the best gear, now you have to discard the gear you invested in and pay money to get the new gear.

Naw, no thank you, if I feel I am being manipulated I won't do it. If this affects my game play negatively and creates a requirement where I must continually pay more money to be relevant in the game I'll quit and play another MMO. There are some coming up that look very attractive. I prefer spending my entertainment dollars with games that are not conducting themselves as if they are vultures.

Their stated plan is to nerf it even more in order to bring it in line with the new set.

But also revert the change to the cooldown.

In that case the result will most likely be that I will use neither of the set.

In PVE, no way. This set seems terrible. In PVP, I might be able to come up with some interesting uses, like casting dark conversion on a sorc will also give you a shield. Could be situationally useful I suppose. Certainly dont see myself actively farming it, but I will likely throw 30-40 keys into the DLC chest (like I do everytime we get a new piece), and like every other set, I will probably keep at least one head and shoulder of each weight just in case.

Too bad that, as a group, the entire player base of ESO can't refuse to use this new set until we get our iceheart back the way it was. "Oh yeah? You nerfed iceheart for this set's benefit? Fine! We don't want this set!"

As it drops from new content the helm will just get come passively. It's quite niche, but the other set looks potentially versatile and I'm always missing a few traited weights of other DLC shoulders.
