need some advice pls: having some trouble with one of my toons

so all of a sudden one of my toons decided that it will not accept escape. the other toons are just fine. so i removed the game and redownloaded it. i also removed the addons folder. even after the download and removing the addons folder, this toon will not accept escape. is there something else i need to do?

the escape key. it wont work

Did you check to make sure the key is mapped as it should be? If it accidentally got remapped to something else on that character, it could be the issue.

this good be a good suggestion, but

i have 2 computers with eso on them. this toon is just fine on the one computer, but not on the other. so i guess key mapping is local? but i can't get to it on the computer with this problem since you need esc to get there. is there a file i need to modify to try this fix?

per default key bindings in eso are character bound, which can be a tad be annoying if you have plenty of characters. Therefore someone made an addon ( I think Votan's ... something) to give you the choice to make key bind changes global for that account. So you could try that one (just use a character with working esc keiy). Quite a handy addon anyways I think

This person is having the same issue you had back in 2015. They have two PCs and it happens only on one and only with one character it seems. Did you even find a solution to the issue you had with the escape key?

Can you access the key binds on the Character selection screen?

oooo ty i will look for it

ok so i got keybinder . logged on on good toon. made sure it was checked and then went to the keybinds, found system. saw that it was bound to esc, made sure the box next to it was checked for account wide. completely logged off.

then logged back in on bad toon. checked addons at the character select page to make sure keybind was checked. and logged in. it did not work.

no you cannot access them from there. you can access the addons, tho.
