Why Does Wood Feel So Rare?

I spend hours doing a crafting writ each day because I have to hunt for wood nodes.

I'm finding 5-7 clothing plants, 4-6 mining nodes, and 8+ rune nodes, EACH, for every ONE wood node I find.
And I have the Spotting skill (at rank 1) so wood nodes should glow!

Probably not looking in the right areas. I expect that there is a balance between the nodes, actually less for mining since jewelry shares them, but ofc I do not have access to the true numbers. I can attest that I find ample wood.

Also, rank 1 is where you have to be the closest to that type of node. I suggest you put all points into spotting wood if you are having trouble finding it.

Greenshade and the Rift zones are littered with wood.

This. For me it's much more the clothing nodes that seem to be hard to find, whereas it sometimes feels like I stumble across wood nodes every third step I take.

I think it depends on what areas you like to hang out in. Eastmarch and Glenumbra have a ton of logs. Me? I roll for jackpots on crafting writs.

Just do the surveys. I have hundreds of wood from just those alone.

As a genral rule of thumb, metals/jewelcraft-nodes will spawn more in rocky mountainous areas. Cloth at grass fields. Wood spawn more frequently in very forested areas (as some mention above, find a not-so-visited forest-y area, and you should be finding looads).

Also the addon Harvestmap may help you

Also, you can find logs washed up on shores. In fact, if you do the round trip from Castle Rilis on Auridon all the way around the isthmus, you can usually find 15 minimum. If you aren't just behind someone else of course! Shadowfen is great for logs too.

There are almost no builds that don't use wooden items.

Tanks have a shield and quite likely a staff too.

Magic users have two staffs.

Stamina players will quite likely have a bow, maybe two.

I usually see more wood than anything else.

Do you use map pins? You can even set unknown nodes to appear.

Out of curiosity, what level is your woodworking? I know maple is a lot harder to spot than rubedite.

I find them along the shores. They are dominant there.

I give up for tonight. 2 hours and about 10 nodes later; 2 beech nods, 8 oak nodes (I need beech).

I even looted chests and bags; all OAK weapons. The game is just refusing to let me have beech.

Beech is fairly cheap if you spend a bit of time looking at some vendors.

If you are on PC NA server let me know and I can send you 200 sanded beech. I have 1.2k of them and don't really use them.
