Drop rates in this game

I love ESO, have been playing on XBOX since launch.

One thing that has constantly bothered me were drop rates across the board. I WANT to play this game, but I get extremely annoyed when I do 50 of the daily hunts and quests in Southern Elseweyr and only have the dragon guard greatsword style page to show for.

Ever since outfits were a thing, this has been my biggest issue with the game - all the items/styles/loot we want drops at such a bad rate (at least for me). I've been doing the looming shadows quest and have yet a style page to drop.

Its frustrating to see such great armor sets hidden behind poor RNG, it has started to kill my drive to play this game. I think storywise, it continues to be great, but the grind and awful RNG is really starting to lessen my drive in this game

Farm gold and buy the styles instead.

I think part of it is that it makes you to interact with other players by trading motif pages, or buy and sell via guild trader or zone, this is an mmo, It’ll be super easy to get your style book complete when you cooperate with others.

Same goes for farming gears in dungeons and trials, they’re tradable.

I don't know.. I think the drop rate for anything tradeable is pretty good and when it isn't, players in dungeons/trials are usually very open to trading what they find. I've played many MMO's where things costed a ridiculous amount, I'm talking about grinding gold for a week just to afford something rare and they was literally 1, maybe 2 items a week per server.. There are expensive items in the game, like 400k+, but generally the items I'm interested in aren't that much and even if they were, that's a manageable amount.

In this game, you may pay 50-100k for something good, it really isn't that bad when you can make gold pretty quickly. That rough average can gold an item out and even then, you don't need to gold every piece of armor since it barely does anything.

I remember a previous MMO I played where you maybe made 50k an hour grinding mobs, leveling took FOREVER and was the entire extent of the games content. Items literally costed 100-400 milion and since leveling was the entire game, you had to buy really rare and expensive gear along the leveling process or grinding was just impossibe. The best way to make money in that game was to just get lucky, which is how a lot of asian MMOs work. ESO is different in that there are guaranteed ways to make gold.

I'm talking about gathering 15+ mobs over 60seconds, to kill them over 15+ seconds after grouping and using aoe damage, just to get 0.01% exp per mob, even less at higher levels. 0.1% per grouping was considered good and there was 120+ levels and rising with updates.

Not only that, in this game you can use transmutation stones to get the proper trait of any item and they aren't hard to farm. The game I'm talking about had items you could level to + 15 and they got more Glowy effects, they also had a less than 5% to succeed past a certain point and they required items to proctect them in case you failed, only obtainable using real world money. Of course these items could be bought in game after people purchased them, but they cost like 10 mil per.

So yeah. You don't know how good this game is until you've been addicted to those crappy asian made MMO's that instill endless grinds to enjoy the game. I've been max level for years in ESO, I could of used the same sets this entire time, getting gold equipment is a guarantee with 8 materials and sets don't need to replaced unless you want to chase the meta. Vicious Ophidian YEARS after it was released is still an amazing set, one of, if not my favourite for stamina (please ZOS give it the perfected treatment like false gods). That's insane when you really think about it..

When you play any MMO genre game, you should already know what you're getting yourself into in terms of drop rates, @concentricarc.
"May you walk on warm sands."
"First, I would ask that you look to the poor and the suffering around Cyrodiil. Look into their hearts, and then look into your own."
"May Auri-El's light guide you in your darkest hours."

Drop rates seem to fluctuate between summer and winter months. Summertime, I noticed a better drop rate on MS inferno staffs. Chest farming would allot two to three a week. Winter I haven't picked one up in months.

What drop rates? They are non-existent for some items, I swear to Bob!

This past event I ran vDarkshade Caverns 2 a few times and got several Opal Engine Guardian Helmet Motifs.
I ran vCrypt of Hearts countless times and only finally got the Opal Ilambris Hat Motif literally 15 minutes before the Event ended.

Not to mention my absolutely disgusting Multiple Bloodspawn Battle Axes I pulled from "Hefty Boxes" I had a thread about. (But also to mention it. Lol)

The drop rates for the opal head motifs was a guaranteed 1 per group at least.

We ran the four motif dungeons 3 times each and all got hats, although we did trade when someone had spares.

Unless you went with PUGs or unsparing types, you should have easily been able to get all the heads.

The weapon styles were another matter. The fact that no one could collect them all simply by doing dungeons was *** disgraceful. And that had nothing to do with RNG, just OurNakedGreed from ZOS.

Yep, totally get this. No problem grinding - but some of this can be just absurd at times. I don't expect to get whole sets immediately, but when I get one style page after 50 clears, somethings got to give.

Yea, I get that too. The issue is that on console if your guild mates don't have it, there isn't an easy way to trade outside of zone chat and getting lucky at a guild vendor.
