Questions about ESO+

I'm thinking about subscribing to ESO+ but I have a few questions:

(1) Does it always cost less if you subscribe for a year at a time, or is it currently available on sale-- and if so, is it usually on sale at this time of year?

(2) Do I get my allotment of Crowns all at once, or is it each month?

(3) Is the subscription cost charged all at once, or is it each month?

(4) Do my crafting materials go into the crafting bag all at once, or do I have to sign into each character and go into their inventory?

(5) Does ESO+ apply to my account on both NA and EU servers?

(6) Are the items in the crafting bag available at crafting stations, or do I have to withdraw them in order to use them?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

1: Its always set up to be slightly cheaper per month if you sub for a year as an incentive to get you to do it.

2: Get all crowns right away.

    3: Charged all at once.

4: You will have to log into each alt, if they have mats sitting in their inventories to get them to go into the craft bag. After that any mats you pick up go into the bag automatically.

5: Not sure, I only play on NA server.

6: Crafting stations will use the mats in your craft bag automatically, no real difference to if you had the mats in your bank. You only have to withdraw the mats if you plan to sell/trade them.

Ah, perfect. Thank you! And I think it applies to both servers, but I want to be sure.

ZOS get all the cash at once :) (which is why the discount)

ESO+ applys to both servers EU/NA

The crowns are applied at purchase, so you get all of them when you pay for the sub - Crown purchases only apply to the one server you made it on

You will need to log onto all characters (once) to get items transferred to the crafting bag - just make sure you waiting until the hamster has done it before moving on to the next :)

One note about NA server and EU server. Having ESO+ apply to both, chapters apply to both, but crowns spent only apply to the server they are spent on. So if you buy a crown mount on NA, you do not have it on the EU server. CP and the crafting bag are also server specific.

I think everyone has it covered - the only extra thing is that in addition to going onto each of your alts to transfer their crafting mats to the Craft Bag, you may also need to check any Housing Storage Containers to transfer their contents. Its been long enough since the last ESO+ trial that I can't swear that I have to do that, but I seem to remember needing to.

Also, just to clarify as some players don't fully appreciate it or get hot under the collar over it, the crown balance is per account, not per server. Thus if you have 10,000 crowns on the account then if you spend 5,000 crowns on one server you only have 5,000 crowns remaining across the account, you don't still have 10,000 crowns on the other server.

Subscriptions are never discounted in terms of a sale, only in terms of being reduced for multiple month subscriptions. There are also occasional free ESO+ trials when you can have all your crafting mats in the crafting bag and still be able to withdraw them after the trial is over but not then be able to put any in the bag unless you subscribe. Not only do you have immediate access to the full allotment of crowns when the subscription payment is taken, but of course the value of the crowns pretty much covers the cost of the subscription anyway so having ESO+ is an excellent way of buying things you might want in the crown store such as houses, mounts etc.

Yes, I already understand that the crowns are shared by both servers, yet spent on separate servers (i.e., purchases in Crown Store apply only to the server it was on). I held back for the longest time on buying any DLC on the EU server, but broke down for the Dragonguard event and started buying DLCs on EU, too.

My question about sales was because the current price for a 1-month subscription seemed to be a little lower than I'd thought was normal, so I wasn't sure if there's a sale right now (presumably until January 2 like everything else), or if the prices will still be the same later on.

It's hard to tell. When I've signed up to ESO+ and then visited a house with a storage chest containing materials the chest is just empty. But I'm not sure if they're transferred when I log into a character or when I visit the house.

The only way I can think of to work it out is to check the number of items in the craft bag before and after visiting a house, and I've never thought to do that.

But unless you've got multiple chests with materials in them, each in a different house (And I can't imagine why you would do that) it's probably easier to just visit your home quickly to make sure any materials to into the craft bag than to try and work out if they already have.

    1. you always get a minor discount if you buy in bulk
    2. you get your allotment of crowns at the exact time you pay, so if you buy the 3 month subscription you get the allotment every 3 months at the same time the money comes out of your account
    3. related to above, if you buy the 3 month plan you get charged the full amount at the start of each 3 month stretch
    4. have to log onto each character, you dont need to do anything beyond just logging on to each one though
    5. yes. Crowns are region wide too remember, so buying that hairstyle you've always wanted on NA will only be on NA, but it will drain your crown stash globally. Strangely crown crates are not, so when you get them (from twitch drops anyway), you get a copy on both regions. When I go on my NA account I open them in bulk and remind myself of how completely *** they are.
    6. craft bag items are globally accessed, so yes. The only real time you need to ever go into your crafting bag is if you want to withdraw stuff to sell in a guild trader or trade directly with another player.

Okay, so I finally bought a year of ESO+, and even got a $5 discount from Steam for 5000 sump'm'orothers that I'd earned last week for buying 21000 crowns on sale.

All I can say is, Holy Cow! I can finally start playing this game again! For the last two years it seems like all I've been doing is trying to juggle inventory between my bank account, my 8 storage chests, and all of my characters.

But now I have a couple of questions that I didn't think to ask before:

I understand that if I don't renew my subscription, all of the materials in my crafting bag will still be available to withdraw, but I won't be able to add any more to it.

What about my doubled bank account? If I don't renew my subscription, will it work similarly to the crafting bag? That is, will the extra slots still hold whatever I'd stored in them, but as I withdraw stuff from my bank account the extra slots will go away as they're emptied, or something like that? Will I still be able to add to any incomplete stacks of items?

And what about the doubled space for furnishings in my player housing? What will happen to the extra furnishings if I don't renew my subscription?

As before, thank you all in advance for your replies.

Your bank will revert to the default 240 (maxed) storage.

If you have 241 items in the bank, it will turn red and show 241/240. The 241st item is safe, you cannot add anything extra, you can only withdraw.

Thank you, that's what I figured, but I wasn't sure.

Now I just need to know about those furnishings! :)

Furnishings are the same. Any you've placed will stay where they are but if you're above the non-subscription limit you won't be able to place anything else.

You can still use and move the 'extra' furnishings, but be careful when you do because if you accidentally remove them you can't put them back, and you also won't be able to move them between areas if you need to interact with a door or portal or something.

Thank you for that explanation. This is all new to me, but very interesting.

I can now definitely appreciate the common remark that getting ESO+ will revolutionize the way you play ESO. Where I used to be more cautious about harvesting or looting everything I came across for fear of maxing out my inventory, I can now harvest and loot freely without thinking twice. (When I say "loot," I'm mainly talking about looting from crates and sacks and barrels in delves and such, where the items are provisioning ingredients and other crafting materials that don't need laundering.) And I no longer need to spend a lot of time managing my inventory before and after doing my daily crafting writs, before and after doing repeatable event quests, etc. And now I'll be able to play with my alternate characters instead of using them as mules.

If i ever could not afford ESO plus i would stop playing this game. In my craft bag, after just over 4 years of playing, i have:
    * 488 unique items which would require...
    * over 9000 bank slots valued at...
    * just over 73 million gold.

In addition, in my bank i have over 200 of various surveys. Playing the game without plus would be extremely frustrating to me and i would just go play one that has such tiny restrictions on such a large item pool.

I normally play without ESO+ and I don't find storing everything a problem, but I think it helps that because I don't normally have it I've got a system in place to manage materials.

My crafter (who mostly stays in town and so doesn't need much inventory space) holds blacksmithing, woodworking, clothier and jeweller materials (as well as surveys and master writs I haven't gotten around to). My bank holds alchemy, enchanting, provisioning and racial style materials (because those are the ones my other characters pick up most often, so it saves having to transfer them out my bank) and then I have rarer styles and upgrade materials in a housing chest.

Apart from materials my bank just holds consumables and things like soul gems and lockpicks, so there's plenty of space to dump loot in there and then when I log into my crafter once a day to do writs he clears it out.
