I don't PvP either but the additional Cyrodiil instances they start up for the event have little to no PvP happening so you can do the PvE daily quest stuff that is there for event tickets. All I do is find an instance that is mostly my faction and go to it. If PvP does pickup or a griefer arrives I move to another area, move to another instance or leave and come back later. Out of the two events I participated in I've been killed maybe 3 or 4 times but in general any true PvP'ers tend to realize you are PvE and leave you alone.

This was the case for me earlier this year with the MYM encore. I don't PvP, either, but I did just exactly what you did and was pretty much left alone.
However, during the week of the anniversary event, which awarded boxes by doing PvP dailies or the town dailies, PvP players WERE griefing PvEers trying to do the town dailies. That's because the only reward was getting boxes from doing dailies, rather than during MYM, where players are doing PvP activities for the extra AP. Plus, they didn't spin up any additional campaigns, iirc.
