Quick question!

Steveowatt
Morning all!

So I have been on and off playing ESO for a year or so now do really enjoy the game... confusing sometimes but I do enjoy it :)

So I am sort of torn between putting all my time into one or two chars and decided I wanted to level a Mag and a Stam class. Was wondering if I could get some feedback from players who have these chars at a higher level (I am currently CP500) and shall we say higher skill than I probably have to get some insight on how they play at higher levels. (sorry if this has been asked millions of times!) And I am aware that everyone will have their own opinion but that is what I am looking for really.

So Stam wise I am looking at Stamden or Stamcro. I do read that Stamden is not as powerful as Stamcro in PVE but stronger in PVP? Are stamdens still "viable" in PVE.. all the best will in the world I doubt I will ever get to a top tier player due to time but out of the two which is more of a desirable class in PVE and stronger in PVP?

From a Mag class I have played around with a few but kinda settled onto Magdk and Magcro... same sort of question as above really.

Any other advice on what is worth focusing on whilst leveling up CP or fun things to do. I spend alot of time doing group dungeons as find grouping fun . Have not really dabbled much in PVP yet as I found that my brain doesnt seem to work quick enough yet ha!

Thank for reading :)

I tend to not be up-to-date with all the changes going on, but as far as I know Wardens in general have been bottom tier DDs fairly consistently. Stamcro is still a very favorable class to play right now, should be good in PVP too... BUT a lot of people I know say that it's not enjoyable to play, and the bugginess doesn't help.

Magcro doesn't measure up to stamcro and MagDK should be better damage. MagDK is usually more of a meelee mag class though, if that's something you care about. I enjoy it personally and would recommend it over Magcro. I'd vote for Stamcro for the other choice, with the caveat that you won't know whether you enjoy playing it until you've tried it and it IS very buggy.

I don’t think you should give a rat’s arse about what other people say is great at endgame. The differences are very minimal and really won’t be apparent to the vast majority of players.

I think you should play what you think you’ll enjoy. I have both a stamplar and a stamcro and there’s a lot of overlap between the two, not least in having a bow as their backbar. Damagewise they’re both competitive, but I’m finding the stamplar way more fun to play right now. But who knows? In a week or two that might change. Stam Warden is an issue given all the skills start out as magicka..

Magwise I like my mag Templar way more than my magcro. I find the use of blastbones highly annoying. And while the colossus ultimate may have been a laugh when it was introduced, it really gets in the way of other players when you use it.

I have tried stamina and magic version of every class. The above advice is good. Play what you like and do what you find enjoyable.

Some people Love their Mag DK. I did not. Hated everything about it. You might be different. My stamina necro is easily the hardest hitting character I have. I don’t like it. But I do like magic necro.

In PvP, cp can completely change how a build performs. Battlegrounds are no cp, keep that in mind. You build completely different. There can be much skill involved. I’ve probably had the most PvP fun in the under 50 category.

Here is the thing. Most all Race/Class/Attribute combos are within a Percent or Three of each other.

Gear to an extent, and Rotations to a much greater extent are what really matter. You don't have to have best gear, only gear that makes sense to your character and more importantly playstyle.

The Rotations have to use skills that benefit your other choices. That is where your real DPS gains come from. It is not a stretch to state that you can triple or better your DPS with one rotation over another. Well, use Animation Cancelling for most of those gains.

Can you make a terribad build? Sure, but it is easier to make an effective build, and it just takes practice to come up with a great rotation.

And, finally, at this stage, don't let the folks who parrot the leaderboard chasing builds as the only way to play the game. Come up with a playstyle that makes sense to you, and is effective. You will soon see Vet Hardmode content as a brisk exercise, and not something that is just frustration.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Thanks, guys for the responses it is really appreciated.

Have been thinking a lot today about the class I really enjoy and for some reason, stamden does pull me in.. kinda reminds me of BL from EQ (randomly) I do find stamcro OK but I dunno something about the class that just doesn't click with me but can't really put my finger on it.. which is odd as I do like the idea of the class.. Just something about it... Maybe a bit more time with it I guess and maybe it is the bugs...

Think with Mag will give MagDK a go.. Got a pile of exp scrolls to use so will have some fun with that! Quite like the melee mag style of play.

I know it's effort, but if you end up not feeling stamcro either, I strongly recommend also giving other stamclasses a go, even if they didn't catch your eye at first. A lot of people end up falling in love with a class they didn't expect to like, just because the way it feels as they play it feels right. I don't wanna say it's not worth seeing if stamcro grows on you, but if you really wanna focus on these two characters, make sure you don't feel like you're settling; find what brings you the most joy. :)

MagDK is also sort of back in demand for mag heavy end game groups for access to engulfing flames since it was nerfed for DK tanks.

CP is shared, so the game is fairly alt friendly.

The main thing about splitting time between characters is that achievements are not shared- if you want to achievement hunt, you'll have to focus on one character only.

Otherwise, play what feels good to you. Unless you're trying for top-tier leaderboard scores/achievements where every tick of damage/healing is needed (no death speed run hardmode vet sunspire I'm looking at you), the only real differences between classes are play style. A "weaker" class can dominate the meta build if the play style works for you.

I like my Stamden. He's fun to play and takes care of PvE stuff easily.

I'm not a great PvPer, so I can't comment on that, but I have taken him to Cyrodiil in PvE gear and he handled himself well.

I've not gotten the hand of MagDK as DPS yet. Mine used to be a tank, and I think she's going back to that for a bit.

I think my order of Magicka classes would go Sorc - NB - Templar - DK - Warden - Necro, but that is personal preference.

I think looking at builds, but modifying them so you enjoy the gameplay is important. I was trying to use some skills on my NB that didn't click with me and it became a lot less enjoyable.

If you are doing casual PvE, you can pretty much play what you want provided your gear complements your play style. If you want to do vet content, particularly hard modes, you may need to look at your character a bit more closely.

I got my stamcro up to lvl 50 done a few dungeons with him and spent a bit of time doing random things and getting skills up but just something did not click. might leave him for a little while and come back. I guess that its always there :) Grinded him to 50 so it could just be I need to spend some time with skills etc (more likely that)

Majority of the time I have played ESO apart from a magplar I have never really played a mag class always played stam. So I guess I just wanted to dabble in some mag builds.

I have leveled all stam classes bar stamdk and stamplar. I have always suffered a bit with altitus! but yeah with RL etc just wanna focus on less really..

What I do is just make the toon a dark elf they get the same weapon damage as orc and spell damage as altmer and only 100 less mag and stam less I could pull 101k on a dark elf stamcro easy (last patch) and all I had to do was put 1 health glyph on it’s a small price to pay but well worth it imo
