Would you support an option to turn down/mute ambient dialogue?

Suggestion is for an additional audio setting that lets players adjust the volume on ambient dialogue. This would include Bards, Quest starters (including She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named) and open world NPC conversations, WITHOUT affecting the volume of other ambient sounds or dialogue from NPCs we interact.

Most of these cumulate in major cities, which most players traverse on the daily, and have gotten very tiring for some. I'd argue for many it even takes from the immersion, as some of the dialogue isn't very natural and has become repetitive.

Would you be in favor of having this option added?

There is already a poll asking this same question pretty much, though the answers may be in slang. We don't really need another one.

Far too many characters to list any more.

Honestly.... it's a toss up. There are things I do NOT want to hear. Ambient.... isn't something I want to lose though.

Ambient is everything in the world itself - the thunder; the crickets; the streams chuckling through the underbrush and over the rocks - I don't want ambient removed.

What I want is the option to turn off some very annoying VA.

Well no one is suggesting getting rid of ambient sounds. That is already an audio option you can manipulate.

That said, unfortunately being able to turn off specific VA bits only (which I think you're saying?) would probably be way too big of a system. :/

Find and delete files of the said npc audio xd (jk) uh, the times where games were simple to manipulate...

Options like these should be available, for instance there was a time that i played with the music turned all the way down because i couldn’t hear people over the discord voice chat thanks to my $5 earphones. Since we also have the option of turning subtitles on and off, it wouldn’t harm to have a voice over switch as well.

No, I like all the ambient noise. And it seems like a difficult thing to implement.

Reposting my reply from the other thread:

Personally, I very very strongly want to mute "Dragons! In your own homeland! What are you going to do????" but still be able to hear everything else. Having the ability to mute all dialogue wouldn't bother me, but it also wouldn't solve my problem of generally liking the immersion but finding only one or two pieces of dialogue annoying. So I would prefer a different solution, such as 1. making the dialogue harder to trigger, so that it can't happen more than once an hour or something rather than every two minutes, and/or 2. give the NPCs in question a conversation option that lets you turn off their specific dialogue forever.

Good idea. I love most of the ambient sounds but would love the ability to soften NPC dialogue. I still want to hear it (yes, even she who shall not be named as she continues looking for me) but would simply like to turn it down to push it more into the background while still enjoying all the other wonderful ambient sounds.

Options are good. There should always be options. Variety is the spice of life.

I like that one. Just add a dialogue line to all the bards:

(Intimidate, 1 Ancestor Silk) *shove a piece of ancestor silk in their mouth and whisper "next time I hear you sing it will be my staff/sword/maul down the other end"*

And in case of Stuga since she is such a meme she really should be just chained down to a desk next to the Orc emissary and gagged permanently.
