Where's the rejigged Champion Points system?

Maybe 6-12 months ago, ZOS said there would be no more champion points, we'd stick at 810 and they had a new system of progression in mind to replace it with. Any update on this? Seems like an awfully long time to have no news on something like this which will affect everyone. Any news??

And yes I appreciate the game is crashing all the time at the mo and they need to fix that first.

It was mentioned in the Update 23 Combat Q&A.

We’re actually working on it internally right now, but in terms of when we’re going to get something out publicly, that’s not anytime soon.

Something to keep in mind is that they still have their Audit, standardization, and a couple classes yet to work on like Templars, Nightblades, and the WIP Necromancer. So assuming they want to lock everything in for classes, skills, and possibly sets before touching CP, we've got a while to wait.

I understand champion points being locked until a new system in place.
I do miss the feeling of getting those 30 points to add every update. Even if it was the tiniest form of progression, it felt like something.

I do understand the need, my sticking point is why 810? Beyond the obvious reason of when the freeze happened, 810 is just a really odd number.

Considering this will be their 3rd attempt at a progression system beyond level 50 (the first two being veteran levels, then champion points) I'd prefer them to take their time and get something they think is right, or as good as they can make it, rather than trying to bring something out ASAP and realising, again, it doesn't work.

I think that's literally the only reason, 810 was where they'd gotten to by the time they decided a different system was needed. Same reason CP160 gear is red, they were making each tier a different colour and happened to be on red when they stopped.

    Very good reply.

Also, the freeze on the CP cap is not that big of a deal. Beyond the fact that most of our power creep over the past few years has been outside of CP, the 30 points a quarter have a very small effect due to the heavy DR.

that was my thought from the beginning...i believe we'd have been there by now too, had they announced that they'd be freezing it at 900, or 300 in each path, while they figured out what to do afterward...

Our experience with the combat team has been pretty random sledgehammer nerfing

Rejigged, Rejiggered. I'm here for these words. I wonder if we will get a peak at the new CP system Q1 2020? God, I hope so. But only if they make it super interesting. Otherwise, I would rather wait. My biggest hope is that all this upheaval has a direct tie to the soon-to-be implementation of Spellcrafting.

New CP system, new combat balance rejiggers... all to set the stage for :star: SPELLCRAFTS :star:

Progression seems to be limited to getting a new hat, new memento, and a new room for your house. Plus, you get to rub elbows with heroes who faked their own death to stop some dream planemeld, and kill dragons that magically appeared in the Age of Man out of nowhere. And think of the joy of learning new skills and building new armor sets every three months..... what more could you possibly ask for?

Every day there is a new progression, it's just up to you to find it and make it happen.

30 more CP may have a very small effect gameplay-wise (I agree), but the morale boost that comes with being able to invest more CP at regular intervals is not inconsiderable. Right now, with all of the severe technical issues plaguing the game and radical combat design changes the past several quarters, many players could use some of that. Instead we’ve been left at cap for nearly a year with no sense of vertical progression and not even a hint of when we can expect that to change (save for “not in the foreseeable future”). That’s a lot of needless waiting on nothing: no increase, no progress towards an alternative structure for progress, no insight into said (lack of) progress, no ETA even on an ETA. It gives the impression that this is extremely low priority while we sit at cap waiting for them to come up with something - and then waiting for them to implement it. A couple of months would be one thing; a couple of years is another. Allowing us to invest more CP in the meantime would not have such an extreme effect on gameplay that it would outweigh the intangible benefits of feeling that one of the key universal measures of experience in game (if not the key one) is counting for something.

There was no need to freeze the cap when 30 CP per quarter was nowhere near the top of the list of things contributing to power creep. Keeping it frozen indefinitely contributes to the feeling that the vision of the game and the implementation of said vision are foundering even as the day-to-day experience of the game is becoming daily more frustrating due to technical issues. I sincerely hope this all gets turned around. I’ve enjoyed playing this game immensely, and I have a hard time watching it suffer both for technical snafus and on account of certain highly impactful design choices.

    Pretty much this.

I'm terrified whatever they are planning is going to be far worse than what we have now. They haven't exactly instilled confidence with thier changes to skills/abilities this year, not to mention thier "improved" group finder.

And if it's another mmo gear treadmill as way of progression, I'm out.
If I wanted that, I'd be playing WoW or FFXIV.

I tend to not get very excited about such insignificant impacts on my game. I guess we all have different priorities.
