Maintenance for the week of October 5:
• [COMPLETE] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – October 8, 8:00AM EDT (12:00 UTC) – 12:00PM EDT (16:00 UTC)
I still strongly believe it's as simple as how this game is funded. The money flow just doesn't go back into the game as it should.
You hear people like Alcast (who's been to HQ a number of times. Most of us have not.) talk about how teams are run on the tightest of shoe strings... he talks about the combat team being two to three people at most, for example.
When I saw the road map to improvements, I wondered why it had to be spaced out over so many months...wouldn't it just be more beneficial to fix everything as soon as possible? Ideally, yes...until you think about the money behind these fixes. I got the impression from the ESO live that the team had to beg and grovel to even get the fixes on the roadmap. Nothing I have evidence for...just a gut feeling. None of us know what actually goes on behind production meetings, but that roadmap discussion just sounded off to me, like the undertone sounded (to me) more like "Don't get your hope's up". 🤷♂️
I don't blame the employees at Zos. I think they are just severely underfunded by greedy shareholders who look at any reinvestment into the game as pure profit loss. I do think they are doing the best they can with what they have to work with.
Having said that, it's not nearly enough. I remember the "10 year plan" for ESO. It's only been 5 1/2...just think how far this game has deteriorated from lack of care and fixes.
Either the reinvention during One Tamriel used up all available funding allocated to the longevity of the game, or the shareholders simply see the playerbase as something to be milked, because no matter what and how bad things get, some of us will never stop paying.
Either way, I just don't believe they have the funding to do any real, actual fixing.
