I’d love them as a playable race. Pass on the weird fish skin; that’s not how they look in game.

Yes, there are ongoing hostilities, especially with the Altmer, but that’s true between many of the races of Tamriel, even ones that are currently allied. And yes, we encounter many that are evil, but what race do we not? Some even have whole “disowned” offshoots (at least that’s my understanding of the Reachmen — never heard of them before Orsinium).

It would also be great if more NPCs actually recognized the PC’s race when appropriate! It’s very weird when NPCs talk to my Bosmer as if she were not one! Most Altmer may make no effort to hide their condescension but it would be toward “you people” rather than “those wood elves,” etc.

Yes, I was very excited when I first saw them! Haven't seen maormer for a long time and I hoped there was an interesting conversation. Of course you couldn't talk to them and they are just there as a filler for the room (I rather have NPC's like this and locked houses not in the game).
