Snareplar is overloaded with snares

Templar has 4 different class snares: Sweeps, Sun Fire, Eclipse, and the Sacred Ground passive (primarily activated by Cleansing Ritual). Snares do not stack, they are useless in PvE, and everybody in PvP hates snares. These redundant debuffs have 2 effects: they cut into Templar's potential PvE combat effectiveness, and they make PvP a PITA for everyone.

Templar only needs one class snare. All other class snares should be changed to something more interesting.

Puncturing Strikes: This is the optimal candidate to retain its snare, since it's attached to an unreliable AOE ability with targetting issues in PvP, especially during low-performance times. Snaring the target is essential to landing blows.

Sun Fire: This ability does not need a snare at all. 100% of all Templars playing this game would happily trade it for something cool and on-theme, like a 20% damage bonus to undead or a guaranteed Burn.

Eclipse: The new form of this ability was a good effort to do something cool, but snares are not the best mechanic. The damage/healing portion works well, but the debuff should be changed to something that is not redundant, obnoxious, or OP. This is already basically a PvP-only ability (one of the few in the game), so try something PvP-specific like a 5/10/15% skill cost increase.

Sacred Ground: Ok, this is the biggest headache of them all. In PvP, it's permasnare everywhere and it's no fun at all. A better option would be personal snare immunity for the caster, or if that's too powerful then a snare reduction by a certain percentage (like Redguard's racial passive).

TL;DR: snares gotta go.

already took Eclipse off my bar because they nerfed the root into a snare.
sweeps are good now, used to slow on last hit, finally logic hit them and they put it on the first hit.
sun fire agree, i cared on it to be a ranged dot, never needed a snare here, but maybe for ranged builds.
sacred ground is debatable, nobody fights in the same area in pvp, and 30% slow is very small.

I agree with the OP as a templar and would be ok with not replacing snare on the sacred ground or sunfire.

For eclipse I really dont know what to do with it. Root and snare was not it. A tank AOE root would be good but that was not the way to do it and a snare is just silly for the reasons the OP mentioned.

The biggest headache is players who don't want to learn how to counter a class

Get out of their house if you don't want to be snared. period.

player snares were nerfed this patch if you nerf templar snares because of magplar then you kill off stamplar

    L2P they're not that bad

Sigh magplar is kinda falling behind as it is right now and still you wanna nerf it?
It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
    And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
    Ends life, kills laughter.

If the replacement effects weren't garbage I'd be ok with all that too.

Lets face it we're not allowed OP dots, we're not allowed to heal effectively, definitely not allowed to be played as the class is intended to be, a healing cleansing HA clad tank essentially.

    Redundant to ensure effectiveness.

Any changes would be a pvp buff but more than likely a pve nerf and those skills are not super awesome in pve

I dont see any of those effecting stamplar except for sacred ground, but I doubt that will hurt stamplar. We need some more diverse things in the templar kit. Stamplar in particular lacks a class defining defense.

tbh im ok with the current snares on templars...EXCEPT for the one on the sacred ground...that one is unacceptable since its a huge radius and u can easily recast it all the time...thus rendering ganks useless on mele and those who try to run away cant...nbs cant cloak out...so this needs to go...snares LIKE ALL OTHER CLASSES should be bounded to a direct attack not a damn AOE ability...

players with high movement speed are gonna run circles around stamplars and landing jabs will be a joke. With the adjustments to player snares having at least two snares is needed for stamina templar. One defensive and one for offense and if you're close enough to get snared by both then that's your fault.

"recast it all the time"? you mean like twice? as a stamplar if I'm using this ability for a snare then im doing something wrong.

yes you cant cloak away because my play-style countered your play-style. If you enter a templars house be prepared to fight

LMFAO @ some of these reactions. I main Magplar, and I play Magplar almost exclusively in both PvE and PvP. Anybody with an IQ above room temperature can easily see that these are buffs. The idea is to reduce redundancy (because snares don't stack), and replace them with better effects for Templars to use in combat. My suggestions would give Sun Fire a small damage bump, add resource drain to Eclipse, and improve mobility within the Templar's "house". If you're calling these "nerfs", you're the one who needs to "L2P".

so we can go back to maplar being on top again? no thanks templars are fine where they are right now in Dragonhold. I'd rather not see anymore "adjustments" made to the class because we all know what happens when they start tweaking stuff.

if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I can make same about nightblades.

Everybody hates cloak and there are 2 many NB's bonuses from cloak!

Let's change SA/Concealed to set target off-balance always, and not only when from cloak!

Let's master assassin passive increase WD/SD always and not from cloak!

Well redundancy is an issue only when it comes to nightblades. Templars will keep their million snares.
Thanks for the post anyway

They are running right now even without nerfs to snares cause any decent stamina player have something with snare removal slotted.

Lol are you seriously implying that you can match stamden's damage output speed and survivability on your magplar? :D
