Why are you still charging sub fees if you cannot provide a decent running server. I cannot switch char, I cannot login, etc etc etc.

Why is this still happening?

Clearly, after five years of waiting, it is beyond ZOS. Sell ESO to another company that can fix the game. Stop screwing your customers with this substandard trash.

It really sucks being an ESO player right now, sorry to say it but it is true.

Just to be pendantic.. but there is no sub. There is ESO+ and a B2P base game.
You don't have to give them a penny more than the B2P price. If you don't feel ESO+ or the devs direction is for you then the novel thing to do is to stop paying and try something else. It's not like there aren't a thousand games out there or anything.

You do know you dont have to get a sub. I have no dc issues, hardly get lag but I'm on NA. If your on EU its hell from what I hear, but that's most likely the crummy data center they are using.

Funny enough I just subbed ESO+ at Sunday. Then I came to the forums and saw there's gonna be an update the next day. I guess there's no money back guarantees :DD :dizzy:

Yeah its more of an EU server issue, but both servers suffer from their long-existing bugs. I sub because I enjoy the game but whether you sub or not, you still deserve to benefit from a well run product considering there is a purchase price. Zenimax is not a small indie company and so putting out a decent service is not above them.

However, it seems like they are pinching pennies in the wrong areas.

As for the EU servers, I can only speculate that they must be getting a great rate from the provider since they are perfectly happy to keep them in place to continue running a dog***t server to a substandard level.

I am not even surprised, given its Zenimax. Their decision making over the past few years has been very anti-customer and ESO is the last game I am buying from their studios.

I can't believe they're developing another game. I guess they're banking on people who don't know who they are to buy that one.

Weren't we getting server upgrades to help deal with the anticipated increases in load on the PC servers? Like, back in April/May the last time this happened to PC/EU?

If the performance improvements included to prevent people from even login in in the first place you´re doing a *** good job ZOS. Less people who can log in, less stress on the servers.......god damn brilliant 10/10 would pay these loading screens and error messages a visit again.......

Well, on a business point of view, WHY woulkd they bother improving the quality of service ?

    - They're "killing it". They are now the number 1 MMO on the western market, and maybe worldwide.
    - You need a game account to post on the forums, either here or on Steam, so it's pretty impossible for anyone who didn't already buy the game to ask specific questions about it and get answers, unless it's on Reddit or elsewhere.
    - Inconvenient posts get deleted or locked and drop in the depths of the forums so new customers won't see them.

Because it is often believed that you gain more money from new customers than from keeping old ones, it's "good" business practice. They can still try to rip off us old customers with 500 gems mounts (I haven't seen that many of them, by the way), 120 bucks manors, whatever, but the real money is on tricking new folks in, and they are extremely good at that, by burrying their *** under the rug.

In truth, nurturing a healthy relationship with customers to retain them is better, and more efficient, and returning customers tend to spend more than new ones, but hey... When you really have nowhere else to go, why bother ? What would you play ? WoW ? Some boring asian grindfest MMO ? There are some true gems in the indie market, but they are often percieved as less polished, and might lack a larger community. Granted, at this point a student project running on their home computer would work better than EU server. But it's not about REAL quality, it's about PERCIEVED quality.

Then... Once you've bought the game and a few costumes, a month or 6 of ESO+ or whatever, then you realise the servers are terrible, you complain about it, but... You keep playing. It's called the "Sunken cost fallacy". The more you have invested in something, the more likely you are to keep investing, because you don't want your past investment to be for nothing. Except that the proper way to do is to cut all investments if you're not getting a proper return for them. Investing more often leads to losing more.

Then of course, a game in which you have created characters you like, that you've built and evolved over time, well... There is an affect in that. And they DO count on it. The fact that despite my Bosmer Nightblade was absolutely, entirely butchered by previous updates, having had her stealth ripped from her after 4 years, and her class fell from the nerf tree hitting all the branches on the way down, and yet I'm still around, says how much they are right to count on it. And the shareholders are very pleased about it.

TLDR : They keep f***ing you in all the unpleasant ways, you know it, you keep asking for more, so why would they stop ?

Yes we were... there's a big pinned post at the top of General Discussions saying we would

No, it's the same issue, the servers cannae take it Cap'n

Hold on, so they refunded you, because they allowed other people to keep something which they were given by accident?

I understand why you might be aggrieved that you had to pay for Necro and they didn't, but it seems a bit harsh to demand a refund because of it.

You did, after all, get what you paid for - they just got something they didn't, due to an error on ZOS's behalf.

Also, ESO+ doesn't have anything to do with the Necro class, does it?

So, if you should have received a partial refund, it should have been on Elsweyr, not ESO+, surely?

They didn't give me a refund directly related to that instance, for me that was the frustration that broke the camels back per se. My main concerns were the performance of the servers/game and the lack of communication from anyone who matters to the player base.

Edit: Also, when I asked to keep the chapter but be refunded the cost(which I asked for on behalf of anyone who bought Elsweyr mind you) I was told that was not an option. My main points of contention were the fact I paid for a chapter to unlock a class that was given for free to people due to a company oversight and the fact that the game itself was running as poorly as it had ever run(i.e the PC-EU server issues now were also happening then which is where this announcement came from https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/477841/eu-server-performance-update-from-matt-firor#latest

No it sucks being a PCEU ESO player currently, your experience is not my experience, and honestly perhaps you should just take a break while they work on it, that's what I do...if a video game causes you to be that frustrated just recheck your priorities, and find a game that entertains you.
