@Whitebeerd I am an average player when it comes to dps, but I managed to clear vMA almost 3 times (I still have the quest saved at the last arena) with my magsorc. For my first clear I did not know of the one bar build, so I did it with my non pet build up to the last boss, when I hit a wall. So for that fight I switched to the cheese build and did it. The 2nd and 3rd run I did it mostly with the 1 bar build. The hard part is learning the mechanics. Some of the hardest things to manage are the one shot mobs, like archers, or crem guards. The last arena doesn't leave much room for error, if any.

So because my dps is poor, and I cleared vMA twice (got my infused staff too, yay) I don't think the dps is your primary concern. The 5th run has an enrage timer, but also it has mechanics tied to it, you have to stun the boss before she enrages and one-shots you. Use more penetration. For your stam build, I would use Vicious Ophidian, and the soon to be improved Vengeance Leech jewelry. These will give you lots of resources because in vMA you fight a lot of mobs.

    Good luck

I'd recommend to the OP to find space for clatrops in his build. If you dislike endless hail, then I'd leave it off for now. But one AOE ground DOT is going to help. And then I'd consider switching out night mothers embrace and upgrading all your weapons to legendary. Without legendary weapons, you are setting yourself up for frustration in vet content.

15k is more than enough for vMA, sigils will help a lot. Be more worried about damage coming in than damage coming out.

You'd be clear for all story 1 vet content, and likely be fine for all vet non dlc. Realistically, it's going to come down to how comfortable with your spec you are, abd what the group alongside you does and expects for content. If you find people happy to run with you, run with them.

you can do veteran maelstrom with 15k dps... but... as some have mentioned beore, you will struggle... a lot... you will die hundreds of times but yes 15 k is enough to do it if you dont mind being in for hours. Furthermore you can do all veteran dungeons with 15k dpsit as long as the other dd does 30k dps or so and still the team will struggle. With any purple hundings rage + good other stamina set and any purple julianos + good other magicka set, golden weapons, spellpower/weaopnpower pots and a simple rotation with spammable and 1 or 2 dots/ aos you can do 20k -25k at least so if you want to do veteran content work towards that, for the time being enjoy your playstyle

vMA is all about memorization, prioritizing and knowing mechanics, high DPS Is not required.

I finally did a flawless run back in April, and my DPS on the stage 1 boss was 17k.

There is only one dps race (Stage 5 Boss last island), and you only need about 10-12k to complete it.

You can do vMA with 15k dps, but obviously it's going to be harder. But really, vMA is 90% knowing the mechanics, 10% being a dps god. Here are some things that are going to make or break your vMA run:

    1. If you're going in there as a stamdps, YOU NEED VIGOR. If you don't have that, you're not gonna have the self-heals to survive in there. It's the #1 most important skill to have in there while running a stam toon. The same goes with any vet content in which you don't 100% trust your healer.
    2. Build with sustain and defense in mind, not max dps (at least while you're learning the ropes). There's no better learning set combo in arenas than Vicious Ophidian (crazy stam recovery and speed bonus) and Briarheart (respectable stats with a built in heal). It's always a good idea to have 18k health (at least) and some form of major resolve up at all times.
    3. Bring your AoEs to the party. Especially for trash packs, keep volley up 100% of the time. Casting 1 or 2 AoEs and healing will get you through many trash mobs.

And you'd probably be fine in any normal dungeon with 15k (DLC included), assuming your second dps hits at least as hard as you. 15k sure isn't gonna carry the group through nDLCs though. And don't take this the wrong way, but maxing out at 15k isn't a problem with gear, it's a problem with rotation and/or weaving. Do you use combat addons like Srendarr? That has been a huge help in timing out my abilities so I'm not over/undercasting.

Let ZoS realise that forcing people into set builds (and making other builds red herrings) is not good game design.

In fairness, if your rotation and weaving are good, you can do way more than 15k in crap sets. Gear can help you push your dps, but it doesn't determine if you have the skills and build for vet content.

Is the rele/lokk combo way better than the alternatives? Of course. But if you know how to dps, you can run anything in non-meta gear. Skill>Gear

You definitely need a ground based dot like caltrops. When you head into vMA you'll learn the spawn locations. Cast caltrops on one spawn to start damaging an enemy. And then use your melee abilities to burn down a separate spawn. All of this was from the first two patches this year but you need enemies to be at half health by the time you're within melee range.

I really like my playstyle (stamdk) but i know what to change and what gear i need to change the dps to 20k-25k but still i dont want to change becuse i have fun the way i play right now, but i still want to do content

Now i have stopped caring about Trails and vDLC so was wondering is 15k (can do 19k max) alot or atleast okey for all conent exept vet-dlc and vet-trails but like vMealstorm is something i plan to do very soon and what about nDLC ?

So the thing is most if not all content in the game can be done with 20k DPS even VET DLC content the problem is the amount of time it takes a group to complete it. These people talking about DPS races do not understand this game has no rage timers at all so no need for high DPS alot of it is learning mechanics and VMA is one of the hardest solo things in the game and only one for a reason. So do not fret about what many call bad DPS do what you enjoy find what works for you cause even someone running hundings/ranger/krahgs can run VMA fine and thats with gold weapons and everything else purple.

Many also forget VMA was done long before players could even reach 30k dps and was done then with less. Most here are talking score runs not completion and thats all you sound like you want to do is complete it. So don't worry you can do it it takes alot of practice and patients if you want to do it.

Hi there, i run a Stam DK, he is my Main PVP Toon but can, in this setup even solo most WBs and Dungeons: 5 Vipers Sting, 5 Shacklebreaker and 2 Stormfist.
Vipers is evil with the Poison Dmg
Shacklebreaker, i personally love a lot, its a great set to help with Stam and gives a bit rec back(Works also great on Mag Toons )
Stirmfist, i like as it procs also from afar if you, for example use Caltrops and can, at least sometimes even kill through Walls

I did vMA when 25k were the "veteran trials" coolness. I think I did like 15-18k DPS back then.

The hard part wasn't and isn't the DPS, but the fact you have to learn both the mechanics and the most important NPC spawns.

With 15k you can do normal mode Craglorn trials too.

play the way you want they (ZoS) say but don't expect to be carried by players.

Yeah really hate meta but if its only the gear then that works for me, and meal seems like dark soul fun but dont want to fail because of my build and not because of my skills

"Meta" is just the most effective setup. Not sure why you hate that concept, but anyway you don't have to use a meta build to get around 25-30k dps or so. Pretty much any build that makes sense would work for that, and yes, your player skills are very important (since a lot of dps comes from precise rotation).
It is technically possible to clear vMA with 15k, but it will be a struggle. It's even possible to clear it with no gear whatsoever, but of course you have to be very skilled to do so.

As for dlc dungeons and trials, they're pretty much out of question with 15k dps, maybe except for IC dungeons.

15k is fine for most content with the exception of trials — I know a lot of sweatys want between 40-80k, but ignore those dudes. When VMoL first dropped 25k-30k was enough for us to complete — HM I don’t know, was never interested in being that neck beardy. But I would just work on your rotation more, and find like minded individuals to play with it.

You can't really compare 25-30k dds in the current patch to the top guilds from 2016.
There's more to it than just dps numbers, for example, clearing vMoL hm with 30k requires you do to all mechanics perfectly, which you cannot really expect from an average dd. I often see people saying that "who cares about my low dps when I'm perfect when it comes to mechanics"... But often it's not the case. This is why people are asking for more than bare minimum, so that you have a room for mistakes that inevitably happen during training runs.
And when players become more familiar with mechanics, their dps usually increases.

    @LadyNalcarya is on point.

Often the dps people get is an indication of their game understanding. It comes down to not over casting dots before they reach their "dps pay off time" or re casting expensive skills and killing your sustain, or managing to hit your light attacks between skills.

If I see someone with 15k dps on the 3mil dummy there is something wrong with their understanding of how the game and dps "rotations" work.

If I see between 25k and 30k on a 3mil dummy, then there is probably something build related they can optimise to get over 30k. if they are getting just below 40k it's usually slight adjustments to their rotation and maybe swap an enchant or something.
    small changes.
if you want to hit 45k then you need to be running BiS meta or close to it (depending on the class).
If I see > 50k it's usually a dummy warrior running parse food, using all the dummy tricks like pre-drinking a pot for slightly more resources during the parse and doing 20 parses looking for the lucky crit rng on their execute or frag procs or whatever.

When it comes to parse warriors every dummy has a different "meta" for highest dps.

VMA can easily be done with as little as 10k dps, just means you will have to learn and follow the mechanics and use sigils when appropriate.

15k abit low for vma tbh, unless you like to struggle in frustration and do every single mechanics cos you can’t burn them to skip it. 22k will make vma much fun.
Normal dlc have some dps check point bosses as well, 15k just too low as well, 18-20k is acceptable.

Also, this is an mmo game, meaning if you’re having fun with whatever setup you like but others in your group gonna have to suffer or to carry you for the lacking of dps, or you’ll get mean comments about your setup cos it’s weighting the team down.
I like fun and creative builds too, but this game has gone to the direction of boring builds unfortunately, there’s no much room for creative sets or skills, or you’ll face the toxic community player in this game and it won’t be as fun.
