I'd recommend Auridon over Alik'r. The runs are almost as fast, but the population is lower, so it might be more reliable.

I thought writs dropped exclusively from the dremora plunderskulls.

    I hope I'm wrong.

    Please tell me I'm wrong.

Dolmens, public dungeons, world bosses and delves are all quick sources of plunder skulls.

You can get more than just the 1 skull per final boss of a round?

Nope, but since there is a timer on skull drops (5 minutes if I'm not mistaken) it doesn't matter since everything melts on normal.

Downside of nMA is you can end up in a situation where you're only getting five skulls a run, because you're blowing through the rounds too fast. But, otherwise, yeah.

Are you suggesting we should stay in normal Maelstrom longer than any god-driven player just wanting a clear should ... ?

New this year, you can find Witches Festival Writs within Dremora Plunder Skulls!

Assuming they make no changes to the Plunder Skull system you can only earn 7 Dremora Skulls per day per account, if you kill the 7 different types of bosses.
In addition to regular Plunder Skulls, during the event, you can also acquire the brand-new Dremora Plunder Skulls. These devilish new rewards will be the first Plunder Skull drop you receive for each type of boss each day. A Dremora Plunder Skull contains all the same items found in a regular Plunder Skull, but it is also guaranteed to have a new Dremora Motif page based on the type of boss you defeated.

Final Arena Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Bows and Legs
Dark Anchor and Geyser Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Daggers and Gloves
Delve Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Staves and Belts
Final Dungeon Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Helmets and Maces
Public Dungeon and Quest Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Shields and Boots
Final Trial Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Swords and Chests
World Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Shoulders and Axes

Has the event started yet? Info on this event has been terrible this year. Normally it would of started by now. And no info about what date it's meant to start. All I've heard are rumors it will only last a week.

Can't find any official page. Unless i'm being blind. Nothing on the eso news page.

All I found is this from the unofficial elder scrolls page:

The Witches Festival 2019 will run from October 24 until November 4, 2019. A total of 24 Event Tickets will be available.

    Witches Festival Writs

"A direct request for a festive food, from Alyxe the Hag. Once accepted, this contract cannot be traded or sold. Completing 13 Witches Festival Writs awards you the Witch's Infernal Hat; completing 28 grants you the title of "Witch."
Witches Festival Writs are special master writs that request a certain food or potion. The recipes for these provisioning items can be found in (?). Charity Writs can be obtained from all varieties of Plunder Skull.

    Skeletal Marionette
"Be the life of your party with this cute little skeleton marionette! It dances! It prances! It hangs from strings, ready for you to make it move! (Creepy skeleton voice not included.)"
The Skeletal Marionette collectible can be obtained by consuming Skeletal Marionette Parts, which can occasionally be found in all varieties of Plunder Skull.
