Server Stress Tests

One does not run a stress test on the PTS where there are low population numbers, yes you can see if the programming has no glitches.

To run a proper stress test you organise a live server mini event, lets say for 1hr during prime time on live and give everyone a rewardfor taking part with the understanding that things might go pear.

That way everyone will be only to happy to stress the living bits and bytes out our beloved server...
or what say you?

They certainly won't be happy if something goes wrong and the servers have to be taken down for an 8 hour emergency maintenance.

The live server gets a stress test every time there is a large event... the results are not so good usually.

I deleted the pTS years ago since I never actually tested anything and wont download it just to play for an hour

You do a stress test in the prime time. In this case starting at 7pm EDT on a Friday and run it for 5 hours. Have rewards given at several different points to encourage longer participation but a nice reward for just doing at least an hour, maybe 2 hours.

Yes the staff is working late but hey, it's their job and you plan ahead for one night.

As it is I will not be doing this as it's right when I am getting my son from school. Even if I could I would not as installing PTS again for an hour event is not happening. They lost my goodwill to help out when they time & again ignored feedback, made it like pulling teeth to get a tiny amount of clarification.

PTS is nice for testing out gear.

Else I agree with Marius that doing an mini event to test stuff makes sense.
People ask for no more content until performance is fixed. That will not help as the people making quests and dungeons tend to have no idea about server optimizing.
Trying to break the game on the other hand, yes this give lots of stability issues but think most will accept this.

I was just talking tonight that if they really are working on performance, they should run a PTS event to test it. Give out a unique pet or mount sort of like how they did the monkey in beta. Announce it everywhere a week in advance and people will show up.
