Radical idea

Ok so im probably coming back from half year hiatus.
Today is saturday. There should be plenty of people using group finder. I queued to FG2&CoH2 pledges. I got party for FG2 after 25min waiting. For CoH2 there was low CP fake tank. Got the dungeon done though.

I believe that the decision to use 4-man parties was poor one. There will always be more dmg dealers than tanks and healers. And using 4-man parties creates bigger bottleneck in party creation.

Idea is this: People using group finder receives 50% reduction in outgoing dmg, but increase party size to 6 or even 7. Add 2 or 3 damage dealers.

This would help dmg dealers to get parties faster. This in turn would reduce number of fake tanks.

This might even help server performance if this reduces the number of instances?

If it took 25 minutes to get 4 ppl, how long will it take to get 7?

    Much less.
The problem is lack of tanks.

I never do those 2 pledges, dislike them a lot. Try on other days and see if it is the same.

join as duo, even double dps in queue will join u faster than solo que. I'm sure you can find someone in 5 guilds or zone chat in the map with undaunted enclave

1st, the 4 man group is common in MMORPGs for small dungeon groups. Granted I have seen different sizes but OP's logic does not hold very well when you really take a look at it.

This type of MMORPG has two different size groups for PvE instanced content. 4 man and 12 man. The 12 man requires more dps and fewer support role so the issue reversed. That is only the first part OP ignored. The second is we have the ability to easily swap to swap roles. I can tank or heal on all dps characters and have performed all roles on some. I merely swap gear and skills and leave CP setup for DPS. It really is that easy.

So while OP is trying to turn small dungeons into full raids the easiest solution is already available to us. Oh, Also, forming your own group, or at least get key roles, before queueing is another amazing solution.

The problem is lack of tanks.

The reason for a lack of tanks is tanks find the experience is much better if they go with a premade group. We tend to find the dps we get with random GF groups lacking. Fix the DPS problem and more decent tanks will be wiling to queue up.

This is exactly why I stopped tanking. I tried coaching the dps or the healer wasn't throwing shards I just went back to dps.

It's good to have out-of-the-box thinking, as one idea can often lead to many more, but I don't think this idea will accomplish its intent for these reasons:
    1. No matter how many DPS are added to the queue, as long as heals and tank are required as roles the delay will still exist. (I personally do not support removing this requirement; just explaining.)
    2. Even DPS can be hard to find depending on the dungeon so adding more of them will likely exacerbate the problem.

The other day I was shocked to get a vCoS group extremely quickly even though my duo did not have the tank role covered when we queued. Then I belatedly realized that people were farming CoS because of the monster motifs.

Besides the fact that there will always be less tanks and healers in the queue (especially tanks), mileage also varies because it depends what the pledges for the day are, what the local time is for the majority of players on your server when you are playing, and whether there are other game wide events going on.

There are many topics out there on this and related issues with sub-optimal group finder experiences, and honestly I think this is a case where a tool can't fix a people problem. Tweaks to the dungeon finder aren't going to fix the fact that sometimes the queue is long or sometimes people game the system and queue up as a fake role. Joining guilds, making friends, learning how to adapt your build to be hybrid in a pug, being willing to give guidance to others in the pug, being willing to play different content based on what the community is focused on, and accepting the fact that it's the luck of the draw with Group Finder will greatly enhance your experience with it.

I do think that ZOS could do things to help make tanking and healing more rewarding or more accessible, and that would be a better investment in their time. For example, dual specs would allow us to switch to a tank or healing role on our "mains" when we are achievement hunting. The upcoming technical enhancements to the GF, which hopefully will allow people to finish quests and more quickly replace a drop or kick, are also steps in the right direction. Improving voice chat on console for easier communication would help. But a drastic re-tooling of group composition or an arbitrary limit to character skills or states within the dungeon would require an analysis of all current content and all content in the pipeline, and still probably wouldn't address the core issue which, at its most basic level, is that "not enough people are playing what I want to play when I queue up."

Que with another DPS. Usually pretty fast. Also, you can belong to 5 different guilds, ask your guild mates. If no one ever wants to do the pledge, leave guild and find another one. Lastly, perhaps controversial, make another character. I myself have always been DPS but said **** it I’ll make a tank for times I just need to get into a group and finish these dailies fast. Boom, always have a group now. Now I plan on making a healer. Knock out dailies on tank and healer first and if I can group with my DPS so be it, but honesty I prefer that character as my PvP character anyways.

Find at least one other dd in zone or guild chat. For 2 people queue is like 10 times faster. There is really not much reason to queue solo on dd if you are not fishing, housing and whatever and so queue doesn't bother you.
