Sense of progression in end game PVE

ESO is going in a terrible direction and I don't even think the dev team have any idea to where it leads; they just roll with the punches 3 months down the line. If they were so against the dps changes for the last patch they should have picked up on this in pts week 1 of scalebreaker because it was clearly obvious. We begin to hit 90k - 100k for strong dps and we felt like we progressed in damage compared to previous patches. With CP locked with god knows how long and it will remain this way indefinitely, now ridiculous nerfs of 60%+ on a lot of skills we are going backwards. Progression and stagnation of dps is something people can live with but neutering our damage makes me question do the devs actually know what people want.

ESO is meant to be fun, grinding for meta shifts is okay but grinding because ZOS can't make up their mind on their new dot philosophy they were blabbering on about all year is not. The game is a chore people have lives outside of this game and I think for the first time in all the qqing about nerfs on the forums that this may be the straw that breaks the camels back.

Whats your opinions on this? I am not just here to qq lol.

    That’s ok 🙂

On topic, this is a game. Have fun in it and don’t chase the meta.

But still not sure what ‘end game’ means....
    PS4 / EU

    It’s all utterly ridiculous.

The meta is fun for a lot of people. We like the idea of having a concrete class with rotations and BIS gear. We like being powerful. We put in the time, energy, and effort to farm gear/transmute crystals, practice rotations and study so we can dominate. Some of us only care about PvE and some PvP. Others, like myself, care a great deal about being the best in both.

Top Tier: nerfs = 2 steps forwards, 1 step back

Progression groups: nerfs = 1 step forward, 2 steps back

Depending on the patch, it might well be more than 2 steps, but simply put, different groups of players experience nerfs differently. Progression groups usually get hit harder by nerfs.

Nerfs to players are apparently easier than making content for end game progression guilds. As long as it is more challenging for everyone, I guess that is the goal. Or they honestly just want to run everyone off and focus on their other games, none of this makes any sense to normal people.

You're not supposed to get "stronger". That's called power creep, and it makes old content less fun to complete.

I don't like ZOS' sledgehammer approach to balance, but I don't mind them addressing power creep.

Roleplaying is the real end game.

No, 10 forum stars is the real end game, and I have about 1400 points to go. Can’t wait to see how that makes PvP and trials a complete cakewalk.

You can make the game more challenging by buffing the enemies' strength, or nerfing the player. The former means a lot more adjustments need to be made than latter, so guess which they'll do?

There's also the issue of making the game more challenging for the experienced player at the same time as keeping it manageable for the new player. Reducing the rate of progression helps with that.

Of course, if you're an accountant, rather than a player, only the numbers matter.

There does need to be a sense of progression or else the game gets stagnant and boring.
