Why not just cap DPS?

Genuine suggestion.
Think about what it could solve in relation to the latest outcry after this quarters dramatic changes.
Devs have always struggled to achieve 3 things:
- balance classes
- reduce power creep
- minimize dps gap
And every quarter we are treated to a maelstrom of changes as devs struggle to hit a moving target.
So what if we just capped dps? Let's say 40 or 50k. It would stop power creep, reduce the gap and result in all classes being equal from a dps perspective.
It would allow the scope to give class skills their own unique flavour.
It would also give a consistancy to dps output that would stop the huge changes every quarter and would give devs a fixed dps base to design content around.

    Pretty sure 'standardizing dps' is what they are going for. People just don't like it because their favourite skills will inevitably take a hit.

    And I don't think DPS should be capped.

    Actually yeah, this would actually be significantly preferable.

    Although a slightly better idea would be diminishing returns (damage works on a curve so damage above certain thresholds would be reduced proportionatly) - this way players won't just hit a brick wall when they are doing well.

    Whether or not skills are overpowered is largely based on how they are used in someone's rotation, so this idea is something that should at least be tested.

    I think ZOS combat team set LIKO parse result as the current standard .

    with buffs or without buffs?

    So instead of just having PvP vs PvE balance problem, we will have Trial vs Dungeons balance problem.

    what Zos is doing is like making the manual workers pay the same taxes as Mark Zuckemberg, because he can earn an insane amount of money.
    It´s like taking the Olimpic records as reference for the physical performance to enter the army


    For me the answer is easy. Create more difficult content.

    But this requires inversion.

    So better we pay with our time and efforts... Or quit

    Yeah, this could also work. Or you could use the CP system to give you a diminishing rate of increase past the cap

    why would that be? even the hardest content in the game can be done with 30-35kdps 70-100k has never been needed regardless of the claims from certain quarters
