Has any trial or arena been announced for dragonhold or it will just be an update of game improvements and new quests etc?

No new arena or trial, unfortunately.

The zone does look quite well done though. Hopefully the performance fixes are effective as well.

Performance Fixes > Arena / Trial / PvP zone...

Note: If they would did not add any new quests & story too many people would drop the game, so I guess this is why we get only new questing zone.

If it's just a new questing zone I bet a lot will be finished in a weekend and people will leave.
That would be a really weird design choice.

No trial or arena this time, it seems there will be an extra season of the dragon finale storyline on top of the dragonhold storyline for the dlc, in place of it.

Yeah, no Arena this time. Seems like the 'Year-long story' was just an excuse to get away with creating less content. :disappointed:

    - Two years ago we got Morrowind with a new Class and a new PvP mode the usual trial,
    - then the Horns of the Reach dungeons in which had a distinct new look to them
    - then the Clockwork City with its totally unique architecture and a Trial

    - Last year we got Summerset with a new Skill Line and the usual trial,
    - then the Wolfhunter dungeons which were quite unique,
    - and then Murkmire zone with its distinct style and a whole new Arena.

    - This year we got Elsweyr with a new Class and the usual trial,
    - then the Scalebreaker dungeons which didn't look much different from random Elsweyr delves or public dungeons,
    - and then the Southern Elsweyr zone which is just a recolor of Elsweyr and has no Arena or Trial.

I'm really sorry but I'm wondering where all our money goes, since other games charge similar prices for their DLCs that have way more content, while ESO has been skimping on both the asset design and the content this year. So the 'Season of the Dragon' is more like the 'Season of Reused Assets and Hype instead of Content'.

Sorry if I sound harsh but I was really worried that the 'we'll spend a whole year on a story now' approach would just end up being a way to drag out a Chapter's content into the other DLCs and to cut corners when it comes to designing new zones and styles; and from what they showed us that is exactly what they did. Ah well, the PTS patch may prove me wrong tomorrow (and I would like to be wrong) but I don't have high hopes anymore.

Clockwork City was a big deal because Transmutation changes everything. And coupled with Summerset's jewlery trait research ability it changes so much. I like stuff like that.

Though I fundamentally agree with your point, @bluebird, make sure you support your argument with actual facts.

If you had watched ESO Live on Friday, you would have seen plenty of new Art assets ... especially in Senchal (the capital city of Southern Elsweyr). Remember, it’s a city that’s been ravaged by the Knahaten Flu ... and thus looks different than, say, Rimmen.

Sure, there’s no new Trial or Arena, which I agree is missing content this time around.

@Taleof2Cities I did actually watch it, which is why I was confident enough to state that it's a recolour of Elsweyr. Because it is. Not sure if you have seen it because the Senchal buildings are just the same Elsweyr Khajiit style with a different colour slapped on it (the stone is paler and the wood is more worn) and minor details (e.g. the gold trims are different).

The difference between Jode's Embrace and the Hall of the Lunar Champion (i.e. the stone and wood style of Elsweyr) is far greater than any difference between Rimmen and Senchal. Perhaps the dome in the Senchal palace was new, but I'm not sure if it's not just a reskin of the White-Gold Tower dome, I don't remember exactly so it might be completely new. The village and the Temple they showed off is also straight up from Elsweyr with a new paintjob at most. Not sure what 'plenty' of new Art assets you saw.

Hlaalu and Redoran and Telvanni styles in Morrowind were far more different, and Clockwork City was distinct from all of them. The same goes for Alinor and Psijic styles Summerset and how different Murkmire was. So thanks but I did see the ESO Live which is precisely why I was so disappointed. Until now, I was only worried that it would be a lazy reskin of Northern Elsweyr based on the early Dragonhold sneak-peek they showed earlier, but now we know for sure that it is. It's dramatically less content all around not just content-wise (i.e. the Arena/Trial) but also asset-wise.

Edit: Not to mention the Grappling Hook mechanic which they drummed up to be a unique way of traversal... while it's literally just the Tamed Vine-Tongue mechanic straight from Murkmire.

@bluebird You are wondering where all our money goes? To Commander Keen obviously, ZOS' new mobile game. They need to milk their current cash cow as much as possible before they can move on to the next one.

Jokes aside, in my book ZOS needs to deliver on this update. I can live with getting less content this year if it means we can finally get decent performance. And if it takes bland updates like Scalebreaker to get balance to a point where they can make it fun AND fair, then so be it. Let's see what tomorrow's patch notes bring.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

But what team responsible for making PvE game end content have to do with performance fixes and improvements ? Also from what they said on ESO live it doesnt even look like we'll get any impactfull fixes or improvements during this update anyway. Those will be some minor changes that should've been done years ago. Fact that we're getting some performance fixes , is no excuse for not getting new arena/trial.
