We should be able to transmute the LEVEL of an item

My leveling characters never really felt like they had to "farm" for anything. Just questing through a Chapter or Zone gave them enough bits of the local sets that they could wear something useful.

(and yeah, sometimes I'd craft a few pieces from my crafter alt. Didn't do the "craft a whole new set every 10 levels" thing, though.)

But this is more for those players that play the game slowly, like my friends. For them, they have 0 incentive to actually try farming gear for the next few weeks, considering they won't be rushing to CP 160. I bet a lot of them will stop playing before that.

This game is an MMO, @Calm_Fury. You have to put in the effort and time to get gear. No shortcuts.

In other words, MMOs often aren't the best choice of a game to play for players with limited time.

That said, playing the game at a casual pace is a totally valid playstyle.

You just have to realize some of the rewards come later versus those who have more time up front.

This. And no matter how slowly they play it is still a quick trip to lvl 50 CP 160 time wise spent actually playing the game.

Besides, they would spend more time getting the matts needed to change the level of gear than the leveling would actually take, in all likely hood. It really is a silly idea when I think of it.

This sort of thing is why I don't run certain dungeons before I get a character to 50 (I am already above CP 160.

You know that the lowbie is gona get that BSW inferno and you'll farm for years after you hit 50/CP 160 before you ever see another one.

I have one BSW inferno. I finally got one last year.

Ha! I was going to post something similar but you beat me to it. :D I have become almost superstitious about not running things at low level when I have been farming for a drop on my main in the same location!

Honestly I wouldn't be against something like this. I hear both sides. For me the question is: could this have any negative unintended consequences? I can't really think of many. It is unlikely that someone would have such great RNG while low level that they would lost interest in obtaining more gear once they hit max level.

That’s the kinda thing that once you hit 160 you forget everything that happened before.

I get what you are saying but I couldn’t tell you a single piece of gear I had at lvl 74 that I have lost sleep over.

What’s more likely to happen is the set will get nerfed by the time you hit 160 and then you are screwed anyway!

    Yes, for sure.

It wouldn't make a huge difference, but I bet that this simple thing, even if they didn't ever actually transmuted, would at least give them some motivation to run stuff that can drop a good piece of weapon, for example.

If they're going to stop playing before cp160 why would they need to be able to transmute this in the first place? It's an idea with no real value, grinding for stuff isnt that hard and you're going to frustrate more people when they have say a lvl 39 inferno BSW staff they want to transmute to 50 cp 260 but instead have to spend a few days or weeks grinding for enough transmuted to use for one. It would demoralize players as you'd realize not only is your staff useless but to get it to what you need requires more work than just waiting to co 160 to grind for it.

It's not that they will stop playing. Is that the loot is basically useless until then, so the game looses a big part of the appeal until you are actually max level.

I understand people that don't agree with this. But there is some value in the idea, as others have also pointed out, that can even be applied to max level characters (if you run a dungeon with a low level and they get the weapon you want, if you craft an item in the wrong level, etc).
    The Pokes family:

Pokes-With-Horns - DK Tank | Shadow Breaker, Blackrose Executioner, Guardian of the Green, Boethia's Scythe, Mageslayer
    Pokes-With-Ice - Warden Tank | Flawless Conqueror
    Pokes-With-Shiny-Sticks - Templar Tank | Flawless Conqueror
    Pokes-In-Darkness - NB Tank
    Pokes-By-Zapping - Sorc Tank
S'sorcorc - StamSorc | Flawless Conqueror, Sunspire Saint, Mageslayer, Boethia's Scythe
    Pokes-With-Bones - Necro Tank

You can already do this with max lvl characters, all you need is one and the whole point and appeal is getting to max level. That is why they're there, not only that, the items required to transmute stuff is more easily farmed at max level. Theres really no value in having to farm for something to then need to farm for enough shards to level it and more to retrait it. You're just going to frustrate players into thinking they have a great item for later only to find out it's faster to get that item when they are max level due to all the requirements. Not only that, transmuted have trait research requirements. If they applied this to transmuting levels for items they would still need to be max level at least once to do it, negating the need for it in the first place.
