They kicked you for being unprepared for dailies? Why should they wait on you?

Mainly to be nice... Sort of the point of the thread this person started. Right?

Wouldn't queuing up and not forcing people to wait on you be the "nice" thing to do? It seems that the person that queued up unprepared is 100% at fault here.

So, if I may paraphrase... what you are saying is that if someone perceives that the other is not being "nice" because, in their eyes, they were not ready, it is perfectly fine to not be nice back to them. Yeah. That's a model community member right there. 10 out of 10.

Nice has to start somewhere. Didn't happen here.

@lordrichter You're right. Nice has to start somewhere. He should have been nice and prepared before he queued.

Yeah. That's a logical community member right there. 10 out of 10.

We are talking about forgiveness at this point. Your neighbor comes over and takes a *** on your porch. It wasn't nice but would you forgive him and let it slide? I mean - it's only going to take you 20 seconds to clean it up.

Nice starts with being prepared and not queueing for instances where you're going to put out other people.

Maybe the kicked you for a different reason rather than the pledge collection, they could have had a friend joining in, etc. It was still not cool, but just saying it could have been something else. There's bad behaviours all around, however the ESO community is great for the most part, don't let that encounter discourage you from participating.
That's a possibility, yes, but in that case they could have told me they wanted to bring a friend in and queued by mistake.
That was kinda crappy but imma be honest with you I used to play dcuo (the only other mmo I’ve ever played) and eso is way more friendly by comparison ... maybe I’m just used to a way more toxic community then eso but for the most part people are usually understanding and will help if you give a heads up

I'll agree with you both! ESO is way more friendly than many MMOs out there, but there's still a level of toxicity in the game that I think needs to be addressed, especially in the upper circles of the raiding community.

People can kick you for whatever reason and it's okay.
Move on find another group. We are humans, don't expect everyone to hand you rainbows and unicorns.
The trick is to not take everything personal. That will save you a lot of time and nerves down the line.

When people make mistakes they should face consequinces of their mistakes (in your case go on without pledge) and not try to force others to pay for their mistakes (in your case make everyone wait for you).

And why would a roleplayer be unprepared. ANYONE can be unprepared. Hell most the time its pvpers who make my group wait.

Not saying one has to do with the other. Just how it is if you land with certain PVErs. I can imagine their conversation now:
"oh god we got a RP tank. And now he wants to go pick up pledges. Let's just grab so-and-so from the guild to come tank for us instead."

Of course who knows what actually happened. Everything here is based on limited info and lots of assumptions, which is why it's easy to poke fun at it.

Waiting for someone while I'm doing my own stuff is one thing, being stuck in a dungeon waiting for someone is another. You're stuck with nothing to do, nothing to watch, nothing to listen to, just NOTHING. You can't even alt-tab and read the news since you may miss when the person comes back (and usually rushes at mobs).
I don't play this sort of game to "optimize" my time, and I don't mind wasting it, even to a large extent (after all, playing a game IS a pastime, and as such a waste of time, depending on how you look at it), but I truly DO HATE when I'm stuck doing nothing while waiting for people... that's why I make a point in not making other people wait for me.

Sometimes you have no choice : you have to go to the toilet, or there's a storm and you must afk a few minutes to check and close windows, that sort of things. But grabbing the pledges.. ? Nah...

This One thinks if you forgot the pledges you should either Do the Pledge next time or leave the group and queue again if you don't want to do it twice. This One doesn't think you should make your problems other people's problems. It's not their fault you forgot the pledge. They already had to wait in a queue and now you want them to wait again? Most people when they queue for a Dungeon just want to get it done. This One thinks its a very reasonable thing to kick someone who is just gonna waste time. This One wouldn't cast the first vote but would vote if someone else did vote to kick.

Whenever I queue up for random and get the daily pledge which I happen to not have picked up yet, I just do the dungeon and forget the pledge. To be honest, I think it's very impolite to make 3 people wait to get a pledge quest that I can do later on anyway. It's not "a matter of two minute". Depending on loading screen, connection, server load, etc... it can be a matter of ten minutes.
You had yesterday's pledges and got today's dungeon ? Bad luck, suck it up.

Is that a valid reason for kicking ? I don't think so, but then again, be prepared for anything including rudeness if you PUG.

Looks to me that everybody did something wrong in the case described by the OP.

This is exactly how I feel on this matter. It's super rude to take someone else's time for your own personal gain.

So, let me ask the basic question... does rudeness beget rudeness in this case?

My point here is that the actions of the party that kicked were worse than that of the OP because they had a definite choice in how to respond, and decided to respond in kind.

Depends on how you look at it.
The problem in this thread is that the OP seems to think that asking 3 people to wait for him/her to fetch the pledge is a perfectly normal thing. We try to explain to him that, to some of us or maybe many of us, it is not normal.
That's all there's to it really... Whether it justifies a kick is another matter entirely. Furthermore, the kick is a collective action, so it's hard to judge. I'm not usually a person that goes with the crowd, but in this case, if someone else had initiated the kick I might just as well have followed the stream.
And finally, we all have our moody times, and there are countless factors which could have led to this kick, unrelated to the waiting and fetching the pledge, so I'd also advise OP to not take it that personally.

As a raid leader and guild leader for many years I have always impressed upon members that being prepared before starting a planned goup activity is imperative. You cannot and should not expect others to wait for you to do what you should have done prior to queing or the beginning of the event. Asking 5+ others to wait for you indicates you place no value on others time.

And it's not just a "couple minutes". We wait for you to grab the correct pledge, player "A" afk a sec letting the dog out while we wait, Player "B" ok afk too bio, Player "C" me too, smoke break brb.....

Would I have initiated the kick? No, but I certainly would have voted yes.

I know that the OP is an experienced player, but I tend to look at this from the perspective of how welcoming the community is to new players that don't know all the rules, secret handshakes, and customs. This thread pretty much tells me that we aren't. This isn't the first thread where I have felt this. Case closed, really.

This isn't the case of a new player asking someone to wait around so that they can finish a quest. It isn't the case of a player not knowing the mechanics and asking for help. Its not the case of a new player not understanding how this works or why it isn't considerate. It's the case a high level player that pushed a burden on their team and did so knowingly. They admitted that they understood this and said that they would continue. Quite frankly it is inconsiderate.

I wouldn’t kick anybody for not being prepared like this, but I still wouldn’t blame others waiting in que for half an hour and being mad at something like this. I usually only kick people for fake tank queuing, and it feels so good every time. When I que on my tanks I shouldn’t have to enter a half done dungeon with people thankful that I have more than enough hp and a taunt. Scum of the earth I say.

I agree with that! But when people make mistakes, do you believe they should be crucified?

I only asked for a short while to grab the pledge. I think that it's rather callous to outright kick them when they have the manners and politeness to give them a headsup.

What does it have to do with crucifixion?! It is not like you can't queue up anymore for the day...

Hopefully you learned from your mistake and next time you enter dungeon finder, that's with today's pledges.

Calling it a crucifixion is what we call an exageration, or hyperbole. It is meant to make a point that which I'm not entirely sure you understood...

Hopefully, people will also be a little more patient in the future. I don't believe I made a grand mistake, as it was a matter of a minute, or maybe two, so I will continue my practice of keeping the old pledges saved, in case I get them when I queue for a random dungeon for the XP. :)

    @lordrichter
Yes, it appears that they did. They knew it was a mistake, but they mistook the magnitude of it because they're assigning their own value to another's time. They go on to say how they will continue. It's an indefensible practice.

Kicking may or may not have been the best solution. I don't blame the group, but I wouldn't have kicked them. As it has been brought up, it's only a matter of minutes, right? So there should be no issue with us starting without the tank. If they see a blue portal, it took too long. :)
