Remove champion points and add multiclassing

BEFORE YOU SAY NO READ!!!!!

As zenimax has finally noticed champion points are the cause of 90% of the class imbalance causing zenimax to nerf our abilities into the ground. Every patch they a whole host of abilities to nerf. But if they removed champion points then they wouldn’t have to nerf the class skills as much. Champion points add a ton of buffs that diminish the skill gap of the game.

And let’s talk about skill as well. Zenimax caters to the new players. Thus since they couldn’t nerf champion points to give them a chance to be as powerful as us they instead nerf the skill. Without champion points new players could get to our end game status much faster and then it would be on them to learn actual skill given they now have the same stats available to them as all the other end game players. If they complain something is overpowered sorry more than likely a learn to play issue.

Now for multi classing. Many mmos have it. It could be the new end game progression the game needs. Now hear me out. Multi classing is tied to having a max level toon of the class you want to multiclass and would be limited to unlocking a SINGLE skill tree from that class at a time. So if you want to change the tree you can but wouldn’t allow you to double or triple dip into all the other classes. This would allow a ton of new unique builds. This would encourage players to branch out from playing one class too. And since champion points would be gone class skills would be more balanced. Now to further offer a path to balance we could even say that the multi class selection can access its class abilities but not its passives thus keeping the original choice of your primary class the dominant aspect of your build. You could be a sorc with nb cloak but it wouldn’t last as long without it’s nb passives. You could be a nb summoning warden pets but they aren’t as specialized and hard hitting due to passive.

So what do you all think?

Ooo interesting read, but no I don't like your idea at all. For now I think everyone should wait for the passive skill changes before coming up with ideas like this.

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

    Many mmos have it.

    That I've played:

GW2, FFxiv, BDO, Terra, SWTOR - No multi classing. (although GW2, FFxiv and BDO have further progression on top of core classes, it's still not multi classing)

    Archeage - Multi classing.

In my opinion, ESO doesn't have enough classes to make multi classes work. Augmenting with CP is ok, but class specific CP could be great if done well.

    I read it. Still no.

Cp does not cause class imbalance, as every class has access to every cp. for every mag cp there’s a stam one

I think cp is a great idea tbh they should bring it back

Multiclassing is a terrible idea and would make for a very unhealthy PVP environment. The CP issue can be fixed by having a different CP tree for both PVP and PVE with separate buffs that you can obtain for each.

Removing CP will not change the constant adjustments and nerfs to class skills.

ZOS has been changing stuff every update since One Tamriel, when they replaced vertical progression with horizontal progression. Constant changes to the meta are how they keep ESO "fresh". CP has been stagnant for several updates, will stay stagnant for a while yet, and still ZOS changes gameplay with every update.

That's not even mentioning how multiclassing flies in the face of any desire for class identity. There's no unqiueness when anyone can borrow one of your formerly class specific skill lines. It would also be wildly unbalanced in PVP, making it extremely hard to predict your opponent's moves, with the extra class line working as a wild card. In fact, the unbalanced combination of certain skill lines would make nerfs more likely even without the benefit of passives, which will also impact even more players. And finally, with the way the meta works, the actual variety would be minimal as players would take useful lines and ignore skills that suffered due to lack of passives or class synergy.

So I think it's the sort of idea that:
    A. Isnt going to change the way ZOS constantly changes and nerfs gameplay every update
    B. Is going to have bigger impacts on the game than you suggest. Mostly, I think those are bad impacts, namely the effective loss of class identity, unbalancing PVP builds, and the dominance of the meta meaning that non-useful skills will still be avoided.

In the end, it'll just be business as usual for ESO with the same old constant nerfing and meta-chasing, except now you'll have another skill line taken from another class.

Read your whole post, since you asked and no.

Problem I see with ESO's combat is its design around having limited usable ability's, other MMO's you can hotkey just about every single ability you have unlocked, here your limited to slotting 12 ability's, only a small number of those skills are going to be for offence, meaning they have to be powerful to make up for the lack of options to deal damage and keep yourself alive.

Not that I want this MMO to end up like all the others with a massive amount of skills on the ability bars.

You can't fault players for figuring out what works well when they have so few options available, endlessly nerfing stuff because players have figured out how to min max it better than the dev's intended, won't achieve much since there will always be something the dev's overlook/screw up, that players will notice, since they are the ones spending countless hours playing the game.

Now for multi classing. Many mmos have it. It could be the new end game progression the game needs. So what do you all think?

    a) We do not need more grind i mean "end game progression"
    b) Show me a MMORPG with multi classing.

No, with ESO's variety of skill lines already it would be hard pressed to create even more balanced skills. Most multi-classing games SUCK BIG TIME. Multiclassing implies powercreeping a lot of skills to the point that old skills are simply unusable. With more "high level classes" these MMORPGS are adding the illusion of having more variety/choice, but that is one big misconception. Multiclassing while done well might open up variety but it definitely severely limits choice. If the "high level class" skill is bad, no one would use it/run that class. If the high level class skills are good, everyone would be running it to the point that originally available skills lose their purpose. As ESO stresses on PVP (and hopefully after next patch balance and usability of most skills) and is not just a carbon copy of typical low quality MMOs that simply slot in multiclassing just to appear like they're doing something, I wouldn't suggest implementing the system at all.

A change of CP system is needed, not the deletion. If CP is removed, gg you'll see 90% of the playerbase that has CP crap on the forum and I would say, yeah Zenimax *** up big time. Taking away, instead of replacing a whole system, that everyone after level 50 is benefiting from (not to mention our gear is CP160) would cause a riot and the players definitely have the right to *** on Zenimax if that were the case.

I read your idea and no thanks. I didn't spend eight months grinding to max CP just to get access to a second class. To experience another class, I just roll a new toon. Multiclassing gives me nothing while CP gives me actual combat benefits and QOL upgrades. If you want players to be "endgame-ready" faster, you should be lobbying to reduce CP grind.

The separate trees would be great :) One branch of the Warrior tree is utterly useless if you only run solo PvE content.

It’s an interesting idea, but I do like the idea behind CP — to further customize and specialize your character. I have no idea as to whether it actually works that way — new player here with highest level 49! :)

Maybe some abilities / damage are able to be increased too much? Idk I see other basically one-shot the mobs I have to have some care while attacking — now I’m sure they’re also more skilled than me, but I think it must be dull to be that powerful relative to all enemies.
