Hardened ward or Empowered ward?

Which do you prefer and why?

It has changed from patch to patch, but honestly? These days lightning mage doesn't use shields at all other than the one he gets from blocking (he has a psijic ability on both bars).

Before this last patch dropped, he was using Hardened. As of the recent patch, I switched him to Empowered for several reasons. One, longer duration. Two, more reasonable cost. Three, magicka regen bonuses.

But, like I said, I don't even have room for a shield on my bar anymore. I was one slot short of abilities I wanted to slot as it was, and then they remove major sorcery from the sorcerer (seriously, wut?), so bye bye shield guess I'm doing entropy instead (and I'd rather slot streak than entropy, because entropy is kind of boring by comparison).

Really it just depends on sustain. I tend to always go hardened but have rolled empowered and it's good for magicka regen.

Hardened Ward. Sorcerer Tank. Depending on my gear setup, it still grants a shield of around 10k - 15k.

If you want a shield, why not slot the one from the support line ult? share it with everyone?

I use Empowered because sorcerer group support already too small, so all beneficial to group skills are on short count.

I wouldn't even consider a 6 second shield on any mage.

That said, with the loss of dps from matriarch making her not worth two slots and the power surge nerf requiring crit + entropy to replace one skill, bar space on my magsorc is too tight to enjoy playing her.

Slotting something for the Psijic block requires a slot. Sucking potions is something I don't enjoy. Rattlecage is an option to eliminate entropy I suppose. There is at least one monster set that can provide a shield.

Rather than trying to work a round peg into a square hole, my magsorc is simply yielding her play time to some of my other classes that remain more fun to play at the moment. Hopefully, my magsorc will become fun again to play. . . some day.

I am finding more Sorcs are using no shields or just one. Back in the day, we would stack so many shields it would anger other classes so we had our shields nerfed. We adapted I guess
