Old Combat Mechanics You Miss

Some of these were brokenly strong, some were just fun play:

• Leaping into keeps
• Heavy attack mag DKs
• Empower increasing your next any attack
• When light attacks were... light
• Crystal Frags stunning
• Not losing momentum on streak
• NB sap tanks
• Blazing Shield doing decent damage
• The original Alessia Bridge, with all it's nooks and crannies and fighting spots
• Destroying resource towers
• Doors on resource towers
• When only DKs yanked you around the battlefield, or pulled people out from under your execute

Just for nostalgia -- what mechanics do you miss?

I forgot about doors on resource towers! that was a big deal when they changed it..

I miss holding my bow heavy instead of it stupidly auto attacking

Yah this. I miss Templar stuns. Shards and Blinding Flashes. That was a great time in the Templar toolkit. I love the Jesus Beam, but I would trade it for a class cc that didn’t actively work against me by knocking enemies out of range.

But mostly I miss the huge range on talons and impulse. I was a dress wearing bat-pulse spammer. And I’m not sorry.

I miss having my butt handed to me by Gutsripper at the end of one of the first mages Mages Guild quests. That boss used to be hilariously difficult.

Combat related, I miss the persistent visual effects from toggle skills (Inner Light, Bound Aegis, etc).

when eclipse used to reflect, could be cc broke, but reflected everything including ultimates.

I miss the multiple reflecting now that the game went further downhill in mechanics.

I miss interrupting and I miss that disorient used to go through block, but was instantly removed if you dealt any dmg so the power came at a disadvantage.

I miss when channels were designed around HIGH dmg but HIGH counters. Now we just have low dmg and HIGHER counters.

not sure this really counts but i miss the 2nd skill in the siphoning skill line (now malevolent offering), wish they had never changed it

Silver Bolts one shotting vamps in Cyrodiil, those days were glorious!

old fire based stam DK (it was amazing)

Old siphoning strikes (both morphs)

Old shards

Old elemental ring (they screwed a winterborn build I had)

old WB (it was never OP)

Old clouding swarm (they killed stygian with that change... poor stygian)

Old oil pots on soil (It was a great anti-zerg weapon)

old tower farming

I noticed the biggest dip in players after that patch on console. Everything felt like it had real power and every class was dangerous. I loved it

I do miss seeing flame reaches whirling across the battlefield, only to be reflected back at the caster by DK wings. What a satisfying scene.

Also, the original Arctic Wind. The damage was minimal, but the flavour was perfect.

I think Homestead era was probably my favorite time. Balance wasn't great, but every class had things that were OP. It felt more like class choice mattered.

Odd, the forum denizens complained then just as much as now.

Oh, another one: old Bound Armaments. Not the "old-old" one with the cruddy suit of armor, the cool blue/purple aura we could have on permanently. They murdered that skill. I want my cool aura back.
