I am sure everyone has seen the people in zone typing messages like this one :

I am just curious as I don't remember ZOS taking a stance on it, it is probably fine if they do it with gold as seen in the screenshot, but is it OK to do it with crowns? as it could be perceived as RMT.

I have never understood that obsession with achievements, they are useless.

Afaik, the only way to "pay" someone crowns is to gift them the item(s) they want. The rmt stops after the initial purchase of crowns. After that, they're virtual assets owned by zos.

I can't post you a actual quote right now. But yes, services for in gold are fine. I don't think ZOS has taken a stance on carries for crowns, as I never even seen that topic before. But as crown trading in general is legal, as ZOS has confirmed many times, I'm pretty sure this is as well.

I think the loophole that it is virtual items is kinda silly, I think everyone can come to term with the facts that if you are selling crowns you are just trading money for gold.

What I was trying to say is that first part is that in WoW it is against terms to sell runs for gold even, which I think is an interesting deviation in ToS between the games. I mostly agree with the WoW side personally

And you are making ZOS a lot of money doing so, thats why they encourage it. ;)

Yeah... It's definitely a bit below board. The legalese of it is that you are not actually purchasing crowns, you are paying zos for access to a virtual item (crowns) that you can exchange for other virtual items while zos maintains ownership over all of it. Essentially paying for access to a service.

It's legally the same thing as if you could purchase any of the items directly with cash; you never own the pixels you "purchase", you simply have the right to access them.
