Anyone else play this game in phases?

So, I returned to this game about 4 months ago after a 3 year break. The game was exciting upon entering back into it. I was doing pve quests for awhile and then got bored, switched to pvp for awhile until it became dull, and then I went to do first dungeons and vet dungeons. Now I’m back to questing a new char.

Anyone else have to keep switching it up to keep things interesting? If so, what do you do to keep the game fresh?

You kind of have to switch it up if you don't want to get burned out in this game.

Only I switch it up each almost every session, sometimes once or twice during a session.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The main way to avoid burning out on any game is to limit the time you play it. A couple of hours a day, most days of the week, is fine, but if you're spending six or seven hours a day every day doing the same thing you will get bored, and that applies to gaming as well as to most other things in life.

I've also found with MMOs that running just a single character is a guaranteed way of turning the game into a chore. Playing multiple characters at different levels in the game (not grinding them all to cap in one spot overnight) keeps things fresh.

I took a break for 4 months or so,and just went to reading pretty much exclusively during that time. Finished alot of material.

That is the way I play. I'm in a low play phase right now. Doing many other things and waiting for the coming nerf fest to settle down. I still sign in every day and occasionally do some crafting but became disenchanted with my necro.

I always have to drastically reduce my game time when the semester at the university starts, but once it's over I can play dungeons again, because the waiting queue eats away my free time that I could use to study. Anyway, I love ESO.
